Leaf and Bean is such a lovely spot in Washington! The staff are super friendly and make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. The food is amazing â all homemade and absolutely delicious. Whether itâs breakfast, lunch, or a sweet treat, everything is fresh and full of flavour. They donât just do great food either â the other bits they sell, like candles and dog accessories, are fantastic! Itâs such a nice touch and perfect if youâre looking for a little gift or something special for your dog. Speaking of dogs, itâs completely dog-friendly, which is a huge bonus! Itâs great to have somewhere you can relax and enjoy good food while your dog is just as welcome. If youâre in Washington, definitely pop into Leaf and Bean. Great food, lovely staff, and an all-around friendly vibe â what more could you want?

Disappointed to find they no longer do food here, so only stayed for a quick shift drink. Fine as a pub but not what we were looking for.

Had a afternoon tea voucher to spend here, got a call to say they have sold the business and to come with the voucher and collect my afternoon as they finished at 4pm I asked the owner if I could just have my money returned of 25.00, he was really aggressive and said no I donât what to give you the money, his wife just walked away and his daughter I think was having her say as well. I was disgusted with there attitude to me I have been in there numerous times, if anyone else has vouchers unused you have till 4pm today 27 nov to get your afternoon tea angry horrible people they are, hope they donât have a good retirement

Had a lovely lunch here today with my parents. Food very tasty and fresh. Love the quirky interior and the owner is very welcoming. Great to find a new place to lunch close to home. Will definitely be returning. Looking forward to trying the homemade tiramisu next time. Excellent value.

A fabulous little gem of a café, serving excellent and inexpensive food, by owners who genuinely care about their people and their pets. So many cafes come and go in Washington, and many are ridiculously overrated... But CafeK9 is a place that I feel will be there for some time to come. It is unpretentious but unique in what it offers (meals and events for the dogs, for example), and nothing is too much trouble for these lovely people. CafeK9 is very much an underrated hidden gem, that needs to be found and enjoyed. You don't need to take your dog to appreciate the ambiance - but it helps if you like them!

What a shame to see this place go. Thoroughly enjoyed breakfasts and cakes in The Front Room. Excellent food, lovely staff and a cracking cuppa.

My brother has tried just about every Indian restaurant in the North East of England, and I have been with him to a number of what he considers to be amongst the best - which means they have to be good value too. For comparison, we also like Red Hot in Darlington, Ashoka in Seaham and any of the Mumbai chain (Haswell, Hartlepool etc). We go to Tashan for the FOOD. How lovely to be able to have an Indian meal without feeling guilty - the curries are healthy, not laden with fat, and none of the starters are greasy. I love the authentic street food options such as sweet potato chaat, and there are a number of more unusual "home style" dishes - including Indian desserts. Depending on how hungry you are and what you fancy you can have a very filling four course set meal (good value "early bird" available), just a main course, or you can mix and match starters, street food, even fast food (an Indian veggie style burger in a bun with masala chips is a very tasty alternative to a McDonald's!) The Indian breads are light and crisp. Tashan also serve the best mango lassi I have had anywhere - really smooth and fruity, served by the glass or in a big jug. Don't judge this restaurant by the location - the food is of a very high standard and nicely presented, the service is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere very relaxed (you don't need to dress up!). Currently my favourite Indian restaurant! Tashan deserve 5 stars for service, food and value (TripAdvisor button not working to give this rating).

Iâve had the pleasure of tasting a few of the mouth watering treats for here. The jam and cream scones are gorgeous, so light and fluffy, and the cheese scones are rich and tasty. My personal favourite is biscoff and white chocolate cookie pie. Warmed in the microwave for a few seconds at home, with a cup of tea is my idea of heaven! The staff are fantastic and always go above and beyond. Well worth a trip. You will not be disappointed

What a hidden gem! Afternoon tea today at The Coppertree Cafe. Choice of 3 sandwiches, fruit scone or lemon and blueberry with clotted cream and jam, a cheese scone, steak or corned been pie or quiche, and a choice of freshly baked cakes! I went for lemon slice and Nutella cake. A macaron and unlimited tea and coffee. All of this for ÂŁ12.50!!! Canât believe theses lovely ladies bake everything fresh each day and they have only been open for 3 months. They also do a range of home cooked meals homemade broth, chicken curry etc! I would definitely recommend a visit!

A lovely shop with delicious ice cream and sorbet, as well as the most wonderful staff! Having been turned away from another ice cream shop due to my 5yo nieceâs milk allergy, the staff at Ross Gelato couldnât have been more accommodating and kind. She quite literally jumped around when they brought her an ice cream with toppings just like the others. Thank you so much for making a little girls day!
