The Front Room in Sunderland

What a shame to see this place go. Thoroughly enjoyed breakfasts and cakes in The Front Room. Excellent food, lovely staff and a cracking cuppa.

Lovely atmosphere very friendly. I had a very nice coffee and my friend had a sandwich which was presented wonderfully. Definitely worth a visit

Visited here following recommendations from Trip Advisor. As other reviewers we also found The Front Room quaint, good service and with a relaxing atmosphere. The food was generally nice, however the Chicken Caesar Salad had far too much dressing on, and sadly there was not a lot of choice for our vegetarian friend. The cheesecake however was delicious - dread to think how many calories in it, then again who cares....

Spent a wonderful 2 hours chatting with a friend and leisurely enjoying tea, food, latte and cake!! The service was great, very friendly. The menu choice was good. Tea was nice and hot. Decor quirky, love that they even have a baby changing unit in the toilet despite it being compact. The biggest plus was the homemade cheesecake! Delicious!! Thank you.

Came here with my daughter and grandson for a little treat.I had cappuccino with the last piece of lemon and lime cheesecake which was delicious.My daughter had cup of tea and raspberry cheesecake.Large cups and the whole lot was only £9 .We really enjoyed it.The man serving was very friendly and the place just had a nice atmosphere.We will definetly be returning.Turkish delight cheesecake next time!!!

Went in for a quick latte and some takeout cake, great choice available was very tempted to break the diet but I didn't instead a piece of vanilla cake for the husband which was a good size and price, he assures me it was lovely. The latte was a good temperature and served quickly. Plan to fetch my kids at some point to sample some too as they will love it all.

I pop in for coffee / lunch regularly and the owners are always lovely, as is the food! They've really considered the small touches to make the place / presentation special too.

My sister has been asking me to come here for ages, as it was her birthday I decided I would go and I am very pleased I did. The cafe is done out really nice, I love how everything is set up from the tables to the trays. The cakes are amazing. I felt like I made the nicest Cheese and Tomato toasties but I was wrong! The man who works here made me an amazing toastie, it came with some salad and a few crisps, really nice touch, he also made an amazing Cappuccino. The man and woman who work here are welcoming and really nice people. I will definitely be back!!!!!

I've been saying for ages that Hetton needs a lovely little cafe (the vintage cafe around the corner stinks of chip fat) and little did I know that this place existed! Nucely decorated, comfortable music, lovely food and coffee - can't complain about a single thing and will be back very soon.

We called in for coffee and cake and ended up staying for lunch. The cakes were heavenly and the lunch was very nice. The place got busy very quickly but had a very friendly, family feel.

Called in for some cake to take away. Absolutely amazing, never tasted cake like it! Even if I had wanted to stay I wouldn't have been able to. Every seat in the place was full. Such a lovely atmosphere too. Can't wait to go back - I think I've found my favourite cake shop!!

Wonderful service, great food and a lovely atmosphere. Hetton has been dying for a place like this and we finally have one! The cakes are to die for and the salmon and cream cheese bagels are yummy! Friendly staff and good music 😜. If you haven't been then Go now!
