Really great coffee and cakes, unfortunately they're closed more than they're open. Have turned up there many times to find them closed, wont even bother trying in future and will go somewhere else.

Our cakes were homemade and nice enough. Coffee was made with water that was too hot which affected the taste. Nice outside seating. Bins overflowing. Not quite as we'd hoped from the reviews.

Visited whilst on a short break from Scotland Food was nice, and the service was really friendly and welcoming. Prices were really reasonable too. We had lovely weather and able to sit outside and enjoy the view. Easily 5*

A lovely little café. Excellent coffee and snacks. Only negative is that you have to pay with cash. I would use it a lot more if they accepted contactless payments.

came down for a coffee while out with the dog on a walk there was water outside for the dogs to drink which was handy you could either sit inside or outside seating too.. we got a coffee and a hot chocolate and two cakes absolutely lovely very reasonably priced compared to some places very relaxing and friendly environment will deffonately be back again

What a gem! My daughter treated myself and my sister to our first visit which definitely won't be our last. Really good in so many ways. Great coffee, great snacks, well priced and good service. The 'Buts' are that the opening times seem a bit unreliable and that they don't take cashless payment. This is a bit of a killer for me as I don't carry cash. Sorry but the search for a good café that ticks all the boxes continues..!

Solid Americano coffee and lovely view. Good peppy music. Both indoor and outdoor seating available. Pastries didn't look appealing to our preference. Clean public bathrooms near by.

Had lunch one day, great panini with salad and crisps. Next day went back for chai latte. Excellent food, excellent service . Only regret was didn't have room to try the delicious looking cakes. Cash only might put some off but we were ok with that. Highly recommended.

Found this little coffee house very nice. Latte was lovely. They have realy nice scones. Tomorrow I will try a cheese scone. The people are very friendly. And it's a lovely little place. Dog friendly area.

Brilliant Hot Beverages ...& Of course Cake

We wouldn't have found this place if it wasn't for Google Maps as it is hidden on the promenade a few minutes walk from the centre of town. They do various snack dishes. My wife had crumpets and I had a very nice cheese and tomato toasted sandwich. They were both nice and reasonably priced plus the coffee was good. We sat inside but there are plenty of tables on the promenade.

This place is in a fantastic location to enjoy the view. There are dog bowls with water outside of the cafe and the my sell sausages for dogs (which my dog loved). The staff are friendly and the place is small but welcoming inside. It’s cash only which might be an issue for some people. My friend and I were lucky to be walking in the area on a sunny morning and it was ideal for breakfast. The food and drinks were lovely and they have a fabulous range of plant based milk alternatives. Unfortunately they didn’t have dairy free spread which would have been nice for my vegan friend. I would highly recommend this cafe and will definitely return in the near future.

Perfect place for coffee and cakes and amazing sea views in Sunderland. We popped in during a rain storm and enjoyed the shelter and lighthouse views from inside. Cute industrial interior style and great coffee ( and hot chocolate with flake) A hit with the whole family.

Highly recommend it. Excellent customer service and friendly disposition of staff. Very polite and understanding to meet our needs. Will definitely keep coming back. 👌👍

Absolutely love stopping off at The Hideout for our coffees and hot chocolates on our daily walks. The staff are lovely and very friendly. They have very good covid measures in place with lots of hand sanitiser. Nice to hear the music on our approach and of course, the coffee is lovely! Thank you lovelies

Love the hideout, always lovely coffee and great range of food. I live 40 minutes away and always try to get down when I can. They've done brilliant at adapting to Covid guidelines to keep everyone safe. It's great for a takeaway coffee and a walk along the seafront.

This is always out goto place on our seafront walks. The coffee is always freshly made using their own blend of coffee beans and as we drink decaf it’s also very tasty which on a lot of the other places we’ve used on the seafront it either tastes like weak gravy or just like hot water. There is also a good selection of lovely cakes, scones and sandwiches and some specials. Everything we’ve had is so good and tasty. Then there’s the staff and they’re always friendly even when they are regularly rushed off their feet! Love the hideout

Five stars everyday for this highly recommended coffee shop. Perfect location on the promenade overlooking the sea. Fast friendly service and good selection of teas coffees and hot drinks available. Didn't have a chance to try the cakes this time but will definitely be back soon.

Three of us just visited for lunch, as I received voucher for a Christmas gift. very impressed, cosy little place with friendly staff. Had paninis and sandwich and all were delicious, the hideout hot chocolate was lovely. Will definatley recommend and will definatley return again...

Once again this cafe did not disappoint. Lovely food and a great choice of coffees (my fav). Hubby loved his bacon sarnie and kids over indulged with the most amazing hot chocolates. Staff welcoming as always. Definitely worth a visit!

This little cafe on the amazing seaside promenade at the twin resorts of Roker and Seaburn in Sunderland never disappoints. Great location, good homemade food and super friendly service. Dog friendly also a plus. Tables inside and out make dining alfresco a joy to take in the amazing coastline. Luca also adds his warm Italian welcome and jovial personality to his cozy cafe. Great job with the decor too! Not to be missed.

Had such a lovely visit to the hideout with my 2 kids, and my mam a d her friend. Janet catered for my son who is quite particular with what he eats, and made sure my little girl was kept entertained also. Mam was far too excited over the choice of cakes and was given time to peruse the menu patiently before she made her choice (which was so big she took half home). The delicious Italian coffee kept me sane during a family day out! All in all an excellent service, delicious food with a beautiful view. Looking forward to our next visit

It,s been a while since we visited the Hideout but the welcome you recieve is wonderful from all the staff.The food is lovely and their blueberry scones are to die for.Soo happy everything is going well for them all.

My first visit and won't be the last, amazing little gem of a place. The food and drinks are superb, but the service is fantastic. My hubby managed to knock his drink flying and despite being busy, they helped me clean it all up properly and sorted him another drink out straight away. Did I mention this place is dog friendly too! Please keep up the good work, your place is wonderful. Love it. ♥️

Walk along Sunderlands lovely beaches and stop off for a coffee and cake. They have gluten-free options sometimes, sadly not when I went, but it didn't matter. Coffee was delicious and we were entertained by Bojangles ukulele group.

After a lovely walk along the seafront with the dogs called in for coffee & hot chocolate with all the trimmings plus cakes with a great sea view! Great place great staff

We stopped for a coffee after playing on Roker beach. Was pleasantly surprised to find that lunch is on offer, not just cakes. Highly recommend the salmon & cream cheese bagels. It arrived with green leaves and a balsamic dressing ~ bliss. My daughter wanted a sandwich that wasn't on the menu and that was fine. The cakes and scones looked great. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We'll worth a visit, and outside on the promenade is fabulous for watching the world go by.
