McKeith's Sandwich Shop in Sunderland

Been coming here for 20 year and today was the first time it felt odd, filling wasn’t the usual size and the woman serving oldish women had a right attitude shaking her head. I had to ask for a bag 4 times to her disgust. Still won’t stop be coming but gutted.

Not a sandwich lover but the salads are amazing. Tries a sandwich today and I am totally converted. Didn't think I would eat it all but it was so good I'm having the same tomorrow. Beautiful food.

Been here today for lunch I had baked potato with coleslaw was beautiful and loads of filling hubby had a ham salad sandwich they couldn’t close the bun there was that much in it and daughter had baked potato with cheese the staff are lovely and friendly very helpful will be back

Amazing sandwiches, very clean shop, fresh produce, lovely staff, family buisness, you are never disappointed, why go anywhere else you only get the very best here

What a shame McKeiths has fallen foul of shrinkflation with their filled rolls. They’ve increased the prices & the proportion of fillings has decreased. They used to satisfyingly filling, not now. I’ve not visited since the beginning of the year as I feel they are not value for money. Sorry!

We order Mckeiths sandwiches for work as they deliver and you can’t go wrong. The sandwiches are very filling and packed with ingredients. The only hot food they do is jacket potato and homemade soup which is lovely. Julie one of the owners and her son Elliot are so lovely and very friendly

Always top quality sandwiches, salads and jacket potatoes. Always friendly servive. Will always go here for my sandwiches.

These sandwiches are the best!! All made in front of u so u can see what is going into u sandwich. All ingredients is of high standard and well worth the price. The staff at really really friendly and would rate it 10/10

Called here today for our lunch as didn’t want to cook I had baked potato with coleslaw and chicken tikka hubby had ham salad sandwich the portions are very big couldn’t get the lid down on my potato very tasty and the staff go way beyond to help very friendly will definitely be going back

Large order placed for jacket potatoes & sandwiches to work. Fantastic service, all orders correct & as ordered - not always like this when placing such a large order. Food was lovely & fresh, crisp salad & fresh buns. Fast delivery service

Called here Friday because I fancied a baked potato and they are the best in Sunderland amazing choice of fillings and I got my dad a sandwich which looked amazing they couldn’t get any more filling in if they tried it was bulging out the sides staff are very helpful and friendly will be back

Lovely salad but please switch to cardboard containers as lots of customers don't recycle or reuse the plastic containers. Cardboard containers are biodegradable and better for the environment. The plastic containers often go to landfill.

Excellent value for a substantially filled sandwich/roll. Standards of fillings, service, hygiene & staff are excellent. Coronation chicken, tikka chicken with coleslaw (you can have any combination of fillings you like), quality ham & coleslaw are my favourites. Generally very busy so get in quick before thy run out of rolls. Deliver to businesses as well.

High quality items that are very reasonably priced. The produce is always fresh and tasty and the service from the staff is superb.

You literally cannot fault this sandwich shop. Staff are really friendly, and welcoming. Sandwiches are amazingly, good choice of breads, filings and excellent value for money. Give mckeiths 10/10

Love this sandwich shop as the fillings are fresh everyday and the choice of filling is vast. Reasonably priced as the sandwiches are huge. Don’t be put off by the queues outside as everyone knows it’s the best sandwich shop in Sunderland. The staff are always friendly and cheerful and the plus side is they deliver to companies .

Had baked potato with coleslaw and chicken tikka the lady couldn’t get the lid closed there was that much filling was absolutely delicious also got Dad a ham sandwich which he said was lovely the staff are very helpful and friendly

Best sandwichs I've ever had, would of gave 6 stars if there was 6. Jacket potatoes and broth are excellent too. Ham and cheese salad my personal favourite

A great range of sandwich fillings with fresh bread. No hot sandwiches which would be nice during the cold weather but couldn’t fault service to date

Occasionally place a large order when at work. Order is always right, the sandwiches are very nice and delivery is usually on time. Overall very good.

Was in the area and looked on tripadvisor for somewhere to grab a quick sandwich and came across this shop. As I was just around the corner, I decided to pop in and was not disappointed. Chose the ham and pease studding sandwich - it was huge! The ham was beautiful and the added salad was a nice touch.The service could not be faulted. Will definitely be back.

I go to mckeith's quite often from work and honestly, they make the best sandwiches in Sunderland! I love it! They're flavoursome and always fresh. The staff are welcoming and friendly - just can't fault the place!

Me and my colleagues LOVE Mckeiths, the sandwiches, jack potatoes and salads are all very tasty. You get plenty. They also deliver which is great for us. The staff are very pleasant too. Highly recommended!

In a very competative locationthis shops food stands out. Lovely selection of fresh meat,fish or salad ingredients,in any combination,or in a salad box or sandwich. A major supplier to the hospital staff opposite,the business has grew and is very busy with delivery available. Been going there for years.

been here a few times and every time my sandwich has been packed full with fresh fillings and salad of my choice. My favourites are the tuna mayo or the seafood 'neptune'I've also had a baked potato, this was very tasty not dry like some places. This again comes with choice of filling and side salad. My favourite sandwich shop, wish it was open later and on weekends

These have to be best sarnies in northeast!. We go as often as we can as it is a bit of a drive away, but totally worth it...the seafood sarnie is amazing.

Went here for the first time today and already thinking of my next visit. Everything was so fresh, the buns were lovely and i had a bacon, lettuce, tomoto sandwich with pepper and onion..i wish i didnt drive home to eat it as i would of went straight back in for another!

Everything about my sandwich was superb. fresh soft tasty bun, fresh crisp salad and to die for Chicken Tikka topped off with red onions and black pepper. Certainly be visiting here again.

Popped in for the first time a few months ago whilst visiting a friend in hospital and have been back numerous times since. I don't normally do reviews but this place is a league above, quality food and a quality service from all of the staff, every time. The Christmas sandwich was out of this world too - highly recommended.

Really tasty, reasonably priced sandwiches with loads of filling. Busy at lunchtimes but still get served quickly and always service with a smile!

Been going to McKeith's for years now, never get sick.... Ham, tuna spring onion & cheese salad! Very friendly staff and the food is really fresh. If you don't like the sarnies from here then there's something seriously wrong.

We order from here every friday and it is the best around! A must try for any local if you want some real hearty scran. Friendly staff are fab too.

We've had sandwiches and salad boxes from this little shop and both are superbly fresh, tasty, great value and served with a smile. Highly recommended.

I recently went there one lunchtime with my 2 kids and thought the food was good value for money I bought 3 sandwiches all about £2.50 each there was quite a lot of filling in each sandwich. The only downside was the staff I understand they were busy but staff were not friendly at all and we waited over 5 mins to get served

The quality of the food prepared for sandwiches is lovely. I prefer the salad boxes.....or the jacket potatoes. Staff are really friendly and welcoming, a good all round jovial atmosphere. One slight blip though. Staff wear a glove on one hand in order to handle the food which is good but the glove doesn't get changed and they handle lots of money which they handle in both hands. I think the gloves should be ditched and tongs / spoons used for the salad and meats. Wearing a glove does not mean your hands are clean.

Just a humble sandwich shop, that sells good fresh food, mainly sandwiches as you would expect, a bit like a Subway principal, were an assortment of different foods are set out for you to select, or you can have a pre-selected choice, like Ham and Peace pudding. Good happy service, at around £2.80 a sandwich .

Been going to this place for years and the quality of the food is very good, I mainly buy fresh sandwiches at this place and wow the amount of filling you get is unreal and very tasty along side a quick and cheerful service you really can't beat this place if you want to grab a bite when on the move

For a person who's picky this place is perfect! Forget subway, this place steals all of their mottos and puts them in lights, everything is ten times fresher and you get ten times more for half of the price. My personal favourite is ham, cheese, lettuce and mayo :-) Hope this place gets the recognition it deserves.

Popped in today for a turkey, stuffing and cranberry sandwich, first time I've been it was delicious. Was served by a lovely lady with dark hair and glasses, she was very helpful and friendly.There are loads of different fillings to choose from and it all looks fresh. I'll definitively be back.

I visit the shop most days, normal favourite is Bacon and Prawns but i'm not pregnant being a man with just odd taste's. The staff are friendly, always with a bit of banter and good humour.Clean and tidy premises with plenty to offer the hungry person..

Used to go here on regular basis but moved away from the area, but was visiting last week and thought id pop in had a lovely seafood sandwich bread is alway lovely and fresh , sandwich is packed to the brim with filling and staff friendly as ever five stars as usual.

I get my lunch from here on a regular basis. The sandwiches and baked potatoes are delicious, all food is of high standards, owner and staff are very helpful and friendly.

I have only been on one occassion and i can say it was the best ham and pease pudding sandwich i have ever tasted. I would go every day if i lived close enough. Great staff and service also.

Have been going to this shop for a long time, nice to see the recognition that they are receiving. The place is ran by lovely people who always show great care and service. As for the food, unreal. Fresh, clean and generous! It's like a mini subway really, mix and match any product from the deli or pick from the combinations on the board. I get a turkey, beef, ham salad on a granary. Simply the best. £3:10 and I can hardly shut the bun due to the amount of meat. All clean and no fat etc. I know the salad boxes and jacket potatoes sell well too! For the price, I would be amazed if there is a higher quality sandwich shop in the north east.

Really is the a top quality shop. Plenty of choice, and friendly staff who will pack the filling in, just as you like it. They have a good range of fresh salad and also sell Jacket spuds too.

Having just spent a few days in hosptial, my wife called into Mckeiths on Chester Road and brought me the best Ham and peaspudding sandwich I have ever tasted. Wasn't even aware you could still get real old-fashioned ham in a sandwich anymore. My wife said her fresh crab sandwich was delicious, served by really chatty staff, will definitely call again but hopefully not after a hosptial visit.

Whatever u choose your sandwich is packed with whatever filling you choose - and plenty of salad to boot (if that's what you want). Very reasonably priced too. I work in Jarrow and only wish I was closer for my lunchtime treat

The fresh crab sandwich is the best sandwich in the world highly recommended that u try plus it's not just that one, everything you get from mckeiths is tasty and the staff are really nice and friendly

quality sandwiches always.i'm not there everyday but the sandwiches which ive had are superb.friendly service and ask if you want it buttered and pepper on which i find just a little extra that needs a sandwich.

Staff are friendly and helpful, the choice of sandwich fillings is beyond belief, but I always tend to stick to the Cajun Chicken which is just amazing! The only issue is trying to find somewhere to park, but to be honest I'd walk a mile to have one of McKeiths sarnies.

Great tasting sandwiches with generous amounts of filling. Near to the hospital so if you are visiting or an expectant father its worth nipping out to eat some decent food. My recommendation Turkey and Coleslaw with salad on a white bun with all teh salad including onions and black pepper. Delicious..

I work nearby so often pop in for lunch. The staff are friendly and pleasant. There is a great choice of sandwich fillings and lovely fresh buns! Would definitely recommend the salad boxes.

Excellent sandwiches top notch. I love their prawn and crab sandwiches. It's so popular among the locals that if you are late to get your lunch -that's it. It's slightly pricy for a sandwich place but I love it.

If you are looking to get away from the chain sandwich stores, then look no further. This place is lovely. A large selection of fillings for your sandwiches and also a selection of drinks and crisps. I believe he also does Jacket potatos, but i have never had one, so i cannot comment on this.The people who work there are very friendly and always seem to have time to have a chat if you want one.Try it you won;t be disappointed!
