The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in Herne Hill Lambeth London

Last weekend I hired out the Goodness venue for 30 friends for my birthday meal - not only was the space perfect for the occasion (room layout, lighting and proximity to public transport) but Harry the chef put on a serious spread for us: Blood Orange Bellini on arrival, pumpkin ravioli or burrata with candied walnuts to start, seared Sea bream with celeriac purée or roasted cauliflower with muscat grapes for main, and a decadent chocolate nemesis cake for dessert! The guests were delighted. (And catered for all dietary requirements, including a very creative alternative to the chocolate nemesis dessert for vegan guests!) Harry was very flexible about any requests and allowed us to have a mix of BYOB and wines from his menu. He allowed us access to the venue to set up and freedom to decorate as we liked (see photos) and had provided friendly, professional waiters for the occasion. I Will definitely keep Harry’s kitchen in mind for future private events, as will my friends for sure (who have since asked me to pass on his details!) Thank you Harry + team!

Nice place but lacking atmosphere...also they need to change the staff as the staff at the moment is just so miserable and really lacks any sort of customer service Food price is high but decent for the location This place could do so well but I really think the staff is letting it down!

Acabo de pasar a tomar una copa afuera. Servicio de mesa realmente amable con buena cerveza. No hay música porque era demasiado temprano, pero sin duda volveré.

La primera cena outing club de 2012 vio hacia Brixton en búsqueda de algunos sabrosos, barato comer. Después de un poco de investigación, y de la recomendación twitter de Jay Rayner, decidimos que Brixton espacio parecía encajaba.Es un pequeño espacio, quizás 20 asientos en un apretado, que está muy bien decorado en un elegante era estilo boho 1970 estilo. muy cómodo y relajado - el tipo de espacio para pasar una noche con amigos y pasar unas cuantas botellas de vino.Llegamos a las 7.30 el viernes por la noche y nos alegramos de haber reservado una mesa ya que es obviamente un lugar popular durante el fin de semana. This is only the second time I’ve been, yet I have lived not far away for over twenty years. I will be back; As I arrived, the person at the bar greeted me and said my table might be ready. They’d check. We arrived 30 minutes early. Luckily, there was a table ready. This was Sunday lunch. I adore the atmosphere, a diverse group of people enjoying each other's company in a setting that draws you in. We ordered the delicious Sunday lunch pork belly with all the trimmings. A large serving takes some time to complete. We had to pause, continue chatting and then continue on. The meal was truly delicious and looked enticing, too. Full, we paused but didn’t want to leave without dessert. We ordered sticky toffee pudding and a brownie, both of which come with ice cream, which I passed to my aunt. We ordered teas with our meals; we would have preferred teapots instead of a cup on such a cold day. I received mint tea instead of green tea. But it wasn’t necessary to fuss, and I enjoy mint tea, so it's not the end of the world. We were sat next to the door to the outside tables. I had to pop my jacket back on so I didn’t get a chill, but again, it wasn’t a big deal. Will I be back? Yes. Will I come back on Sunday for Sunday lunch? Without a doubt. It is a true Camberwell Green gem. I’ll check out their Comedy night, too. Thank you, Matilda, for your service. 😁 The food was too delicious for us to take pictures of. We had just been walking around Ruskin Park, and our bellies were ready for the delicious offering. Also, note that the employees appear to be enjoying their work. I noticed they seemed happy with each other. Long may that continue.

El propietario escribe ‘respuestas’ tan engañosas a las reseñas de Open Table, incluyendo la mía, pero bastantes otras que quiero compartir una reseña más fuera del foro de Open Table. He revisado el restaurante recientemente. Fue una experiencia muy abrumadora. El servicio de una camarera era muy bueno, sin embargo, el resto del personal con el que entramos en contacto fue arrogante, antipático y poco acogedor. El restaurante estaba sucio - todas las mesas no solo algunas. No nos recibieron. Luchando por pedir nuestra mesa reservada (sucia) nos dijeron que “se siente donde quieras” por un camarero realmente fruncido. El servicio era muy lento (éramos las únicas dos personas comiendo - ahora me pregunto por qué) y las bebidas no se servían. La comida era normal, pero muy cara. Tuve que ir al bar a reordenar ya que nadie servía la mesa. Si miras las reseñas de la web verás que la respuesta del propietario fue “a pesar de que te gustó mucho la comida y el servicio bla bla bla...”. No nos gustó el servicio y ni siquiera mencionamos la comida. No pierda su tiempo y dinero aquí, hay mejores lugares en Brixton y el propietario no se enfrenta a la realidad de un restaurante con poco personal que depende de los grandes pedidos de bares para preocuparse por la calidad del restaurante

I didn't want to leave a review, but feel I want to leave my thoughts for The Junction. I've been going to TJ since about 2016. Many times I went 2-4 a week as it's not far from home. The Junction was like my second living room and I sometimes even spent money going into overdraft, just to listen to the music and come to terms with my grief. But I only give it 2 stars even though they have world-class Jazz & music program, unbelievably for free 6 nights a week. I loved the concept "from musicians for musicians" run by Paul & Luke. I loved what Sung put on with open mic nights on Mondays. In the first few years I went, most if not all bar staff were musicians jumping in to play music and then back to the bar to serve drinks. That really was a great thing and the staff were all amazing naturally. They are jelled with each other like a big family and the "for musicians from musicians" concept was really evident. But these last 3-4 years the staffing has changed a great deal. Apart from having a high staff turn-over now, and of course the pandemic coming inbetween, some staff have really turned me off The Junction. One particular staff member who at the beginning seemed quite "lazy", letting his colleague do all the work while he sat around drinking free gin & tonic. Quiet shocking to see this attitude as I worked most of my life in hospitality and know this kind of work like the back of my hand. But as I have personal issues, having lost my family, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking he might be going through stuff which leads to him not being professional. After getting to know him a bit as he's also regularly there as a customer and as he mingles with regular customers, I was really put off by the way he gossips and talked bad about other customers and even some people who played on stage. I'm sure Paul & Luke are aware of this as I witnessed him being taken aside once by another staff member being upset with him. Most bar staff aren't musicians anymore, which is not an issue, but I missed the old guard of staff, at least their attitude. I also was not keen on the food. On my birthday a friend and I had steak. I ordered a well done, and my friend a medium rare. But I received a medium rare and my friend an almost rare steak. I didn't complain and left it as a one-off. But I stopped ordering food. NEVER compromise on food-quality and cleanliness. Rather have a simpler menu, less on the menu, but then make it top quality if your chef can't handle the pressure. I'd rather have a simpler menu with high quality. I had a meltdown recently (my trauma of losing my family etc) while drunk, and apologised to some of the staff and emailed The Junction directly to apologise, but also to explain my concern about this one staff member. Upon apologizing to one staff, I was told that my meltdown was out of character. I appreciate this being acknowledged and would like to apologise again to all involved. I emailed TJ never received a response, which is ok. I just feel I have to leave this review. To me, you can have THE BEST music, and even the best food, but if your staff aren't professional and spread a toxic atmosphere, even to other customers, a musician and staff, it's a total downturn. Your customers are your bread and butter. Customers pay your wages and bill. Rather charge tickets or more for food and drink when you play world-class Jazz, then have it for free with poor staffing. I wish The Junction all the best in their new location and I hope they take a good look at how and who to hire. Everything stands and falls with staffing, with people.. Paul & Luke seem detached now from staff. But Paul was very strong and visible during the pandemic. He handled the new rules after lockdown very very well in an unprecedented situation. He took that very serious and was very visible and hands on during the initial openings after lockdown. Keep your music alive, but take a good look at whom you hire. They represent you. 2-3 years ago I would have written a 5 star review. Sadly, it's 2, 1 more star for the music. But I'd rather have crappy music and respectful staff than the other way around. I felt uncomfortable many times. Best wishes for the future.

Ha sido la peor experiencia de toda mi vida.La impresentable actitud del manager/propietario bajo los efectos de drogas y alcohol siendo su prioridad bailar en el restaurante creyendo que está en un club en vez de atender a los clientes como se merecen y no gritándoles con desprecio . Retraso de 1h en obtener las bebidas y más de 2h y media en recibir la comida e incluso algunos platos no llegaron porque no tomò la comanda e intentar cúlpanos de no haberla pedido.No permitió el pago indivual insultando a uno de los clientes al reprocharle.Se vió lo machista que es ya que una mujer le puso en su sitio y solo supo defenderse de esa manera tan cobarde. No perdáis el tiempo ni el dinero en acudir a este local ya que la calidad de la comida es malísima e incluso las medidas de sanidad dejan mucho que desear ya que encontramos una cucaracha pequeńa en una bebida.Deberían de investigar las medidas de sanidad de este local y la regulación.NO VOLVERÉ EN MI VIDA.Dedícate a otra cosa porque está claro que el servicio de hospitality no es lo tuyo.Más bien debería de trabajar en Karens dinner que es así lo que haces maltratar al cliente.
