The Florence is a home from home pub - great ambience, delicious food and excellent service, particularly given the number of people they’re looking after. Everyone very welcome - children and dogs too👏😊

Really good food and drink and lovely out door area

The meal was celebration lunch for my Mum's birthday and as always we were very well looked after by the wonderful staff at the Florence

Every time I’ve been to The Florence, it’s always been great. The roast was wonderful, kids were more than happy with the burgers and the service was great too. We have a dog and the pub is really dog friendly, so an all round winner! We’ll be back!

Booked at short notice and had prompt response. Very accommodating with two guests with mobility issues. Delightful staff - very helpful and attentive during service. Delicious lunch, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and we look forward to returning to try the roast.

The Florence is a fantastic mix of cozy and energetic, perfect for a casual night out. The atmosphere is welcoming, with dim lighting and rustic decor that immediately make you feel at home. It has laid-back vibe. Service is top-notch, with staff that are attentive, knowledgeable, and quick to offer recommendations. Kyi was a superstar with recommendations for food and drinks Will definitely go back.

I went past this pub on the bus with my wife yesterday while on the bus and seeing its impressive decor we decided we would drop in for a drink the following day. We were not impressed I'm afraid. When we arrived one young man was serving up to five people. When it came for our turn to be served he didn't apologise and paid little attention to detail. I asked for double whisky and coke, which for some reason was served in a half tumbler with a few minuscule bits of ice. My wife asked for a double gin and tonic but wasn't even asked what brand of gin she wanted. The drink was served without ice and was not even stirred. I had to coax my wife to go back to the bar and ask them for a stirrer and even then they looked at her like she was mad. All for £24. It makes one very angry. If you are going to spend tens/hundreds of thousands of pounds gentrifying a pub, at least have the service to match it. But maybe that's the way the UK is going these days.

We visited on a busy Saturday evening. The food was absolutely amazing - we both had the steak and chips - highly recommend! The lady who served us was super friendly and efficient even though it was very busy.

Had a nice lunch here early Saturday afternoon. It was fairly busy, but service was still quick and friendly and the food came out quickly. The atmosphere was perfect for a sunny Saturday outing and the food was delicious!

Went for dinner late on Saturday night. Even though we booked last minute the staff was very welcoming. The food was great and the service super friendly. It was a nice surprise to find out they have DJs on Friday and Saturday night, we stayed until closing time enjoying the atmosphere and some cocktails. Perfect Saturday night - thanks guys!! ❤️

We had lunch yesterday at the Florence, celebrating a friend’s Birthday! He had lunch at the garden was amazing, the taste of the food was amazing, great atmosphere at the garden, great service and very efficient, the young man that looked after us was amazing, I believe his name is Ky! We booked a table for Sunday, he told us they have the best Roast in SE London, I will let you know on Sunday😉! Thank you Ky!

The food is outstanding. I'm always nervous about pub roasts... but the ones here are piping hot with decent servings. Really speedy service as well. Staff are great. We've been here a few times, and my only minor issue is that sometimes the music is really loud (way too loud for a Sunday lunchtime). We were there very early so it wasn't busy, which made the music seem even louder. You can't hear each other across the table it's so loud. But the food is really good.

Great food, really nice place, pub at the front had really good music and atmosphere, we were at the back in the restaurant which was a bit quieter which was ideal!

We netered with friends on a sunday and the treatment we received from the staff was just appalling, very rude, unfriendly, unwelcoming. They assumed we were coming from the festival being held in the park, therefore they offered to serve us drink in plastic beakers when 1. the place wasn't precicely busy. 2. there were glassed on the tables. We decided we would stay inside so we asked to be seated only to get dismissed by the staff as if we were just drunks. I think you can't have both ways, you can't be opened and pretend you're serving drinks inside when in actual fact what you want to do is just serve drinks in plastic beakers and don't bother about serving any other kind of customers or not caring about them at all; our money was as valuable as the money of the people attending the festival;I think what was happening with the staff that evening, they just couldn't be bothered, and even worse they were being backed up by a manager that then came up with some really bad bullsh*t saying that her staff was feeling threatened (by custumers , for which I only thing: woman, you don't know how to manage a crisis. Me and my friends don't believe we'll be coming back there ever again, we used to be regular clients, we frecuented the place almost every week but after that I don't really think we'll be coming back there as it's just not right.

Shockingly and unbelievably rude and dismissive staff; perhaps they don't need the custom. It's really dispiriting, when you simply want to go to a venue that you enjoy, that the wrong (useless) manager, or staff are on shift. I've tried to be measured in my response; the food was delicious, but some of the staff; vile. The vile individuals should be removed OR, better; managed by people who understand the transaction between venue and customer; they are there to provide a pleasant and enjoyable experience. There is little point to these reviews unless someone, who cares, will respond with an understanding of the importance of the customer experience ..... I will expect a response before I EVER step foot in The Florence again.

Great place for a large family meal. The food was great and the setting worked really well

When we arrived there was a DJ playing loud music but where we ate was lovely & quiet. The food & service was really good & they made my puppy very welcome. We will definitely return

The food was definitely a cut above the usual (chicory and goats cheese salad). Friendly service, well maintained and pleasant surroundings. Would be nice to see the chefs be more adventurous. Maybe we are the only ones fed up with burgers and fish and chips!

I went to the Florence with my boyfriend for a Sunday roast and couldn't believe how bad it was. I had the veggie roast which was awful complete with a tiny amount of vegetables and my boyfriend had an unimpressive meat roast. This was accompanied with a glass of red wine, a pint and a pudding and the meal came to £80 which was outrageously expensive given the terrible quality of the food. I would NEVER return to the Florence nor would I recommend. If I could give a 0 out of 5 I would.

2 adults & 2 kids - £90 for 4 Sunday Roast meals with 1 drink each… quality was only average: food needed to be much much hotter and we found a few hairs in our dishes. 1 of us had the veggie roast option which tasted like cardboard. Service was mixed - one local girl was lovely but the two half-Portuguese girls were extremely poor (particularly the one who apparently can’t eat ice cream…). The biggest annoyance was that they put a 12.5% tip on the bill without asking or informing. Nice pub setting but can surely find better for cheaper nearby.

Went for Sunday Lunch, should have ordered the Pork. The Presentation is great, service good, flavour ok that would have been marked good but the beef was tough and flavourless and food luke warm verging on cold. My partners Pork looked great and by all accounts was pretty good although still could have been warmer. We were given the table next to the glazing that contained the door to tge garden area everytime the door was opened and closed, which was frequent, the noise from tge door banging was so loud it made me jump and shook tge the whole glazed section next to our table. Apart fom that very nice.

We have been going to The Florence for many years. The food was cooked to order last night and the server was very attentive, yet not imposing. We were in the restaurant and were given a choice of seating which was lovely.

Visited with my husband and dog on Bank Holiday Monday, we both really fancied a Roast and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was on the menu. I had beef and husband had pork, it was delicious, very large portions, I couldn’t eat all mine but it didn’t go to waste! Very accommodating regarding our dog and he was allowed in the restaurant and able to sit on a chair… The staff were a bit grumpy, came across that they didn’t want to be there, but the service was still on point and we would definitely go again!

Delicious menu with a wide range of options - not just usual burger / fish and chip menu like most pubs, the venison was so good. Also like how dog friendly they are and the option to sit outside / pub or restaurant

Not up to its usual standard! Potato’s no good and service slow. Even the wine was off which is hard to do for a pub. Will go again to see if it improves

The Florence were excellent hosts for my partners 50th. The food was superb and the space beautiful. All the guests had a fabulous time. Would highly recommend.

We came here for a band meeting. It was the menu that attracted us and the good selection of pints. Catered for vegans and meat eaters which we needed. Food was delicious although they ran out of the pie which I had my eyes on. We went for the vegan platter and tofu fish and chips between my friend and I and it didn't disappoint. Others enjoyed their food, The bar staff are super friendly. Beers were flowing. Not too loud to have a conversation and not to quiet to feel like your at a funeral. What more could you ask for!

Disappointing visit. Large echoey space, which was very noisy, making it difficult to hear. Service very slow - staff friendly but busy. I had fish and chips - soggy batter, good chips, miniscule pots of pease pudding, tartare sauce and some green gunk (blitzed gherkin) - followed by “steam pudding” and custard, which should have been hot, moist and soft. Instead it had a hard crust on the bottom and the sponge was dry because it had been in the oven and had “baked”. Both sponge and pudding were barely warm due to slow service. Even my cappuccino was cool. The ladies toilets were very cold - no heating, no hot water, hand dryer not working. They were clean, so someone checks them. Trendy space in good location, but we won’t be back.

Fun evening of quizzing in a pub with good food and drinks

Used to be a thriving, busy pub had the character knocked out of it now by Greene King, you could be anywhere now. Nice decor, good pint, professional staff and a great menu, tiny bit soul-less and lacking in comfort. Food is consistently good, but a bit pricey. Lunchtimes are not great as tend to be poplulated with scores of mums with buggies, so can get very noisy with the sound of babies and toddlers running round.

On time, excellent meal, attentive waiter. Toilets were very cold although nicely appointed. It's a busy popular pub next to brockwell park, great for the family to get together

The service was very good, very helpful and thoughtful. But I wasn't very impressed with my meal. It was over salted and for a leek and mushroom pie....had to search out the mushrooms.

Excellent food, lots of choices. Friendly, fun staff. Had an excellent time with a group of 6.

Food that arrived was very good, however, there were so many items on the menu that were not available and from the drinks they had no breakfast tea. Food took a while to arrive and some of it (the pigs and blanket) were only like warm. It may be that this was a result of New Year’s Day but we had expected a little better. We would still visit again.

A bad night at The Florence. The Sunday roast was about as mediocre as they come and the service was worse. Slow, indifferent and barely competent. Do better than chewy sliced beef, too few potatoes and employees who don’t seem to get it. The Florence is better than that, or at least it was.

I love The Florence.....Amazing atmosphere! Great pub for parties with friends and family! The service and the food was absolutely great! We had such a good time. We are coming back for sure!

We went to The Florence after our civil ceremony with a group of c.50 friends and family. Ana and the team were so accommodating and helpful with organising it beforehand, as well as throughout the evening. The food was fab, the space was perfect and the staff were so attentive. It’s such a great pub and couldn’t recommend it more highly! Thanks so much for having us!

We had such a poor experience; we waited an hour and a half for our food and then it all came at different times. The food quality was also poor and they had obviously run out of kids burgers so they decided to cut a burger in half and put half a burger in a normal size bun.

Food wasn’t great and very slow service on a reasonably empty Saturday midday, you’d expect more for the money and the way the menu glamourises the food. Ambience was nice, bar staff friendly, comfortable pub.

What was made crystal clear is that the staffing levels are not sufficient to handle weekend traffic. There were seven of us, including a six week old baby, and we were left waiting more than two hours for our food. Smaller tables were served much more quickly, including the dishes we had ordered a long time before them. One of our table was also entirely forgotten about and had to eat their meal alone after we'd all finished ours. We were offered 20% off the bill, after we complained, but I do not think this sufficient for the poor service that was offered. A more than two hour wait, when staff can see we have a newborn baby, is not acceptable. And giving other tables their food ahead of us, just because they're a smaller table, is also not acceptable. I won't be taking a group of this size to the Florence again as the staffing levels are not sufficient to handle weekend traffic. A shame has the decor is really nice inside and it can handle a small crowd during the week.

That's was one of the most amazing service we have received. Very attentive but not too pushy, super polite and friendly staff. Ready to answer any questions. The food was also excellent. We tried multiple of the vegan dishes and some of the regular ones as well. They did not disappoint. The place is also dog and family friendly. I can see all the people here is super hard working and professional. Also I fell in love with some local IPA they serve. We tried the mulled one, was decent too. Thanks for the great time. We will definitely return.

The staff were kind, but it was so busy as expected for a Sunday roast. But the food took ages, then my sides were forgotten, the pork was served cold, had to ask for the Yorkshire pudding. Was offered a drink as compensation, that also took over 30 min to be delivered. I used to love this roast but the quality was average. Everyone was very nice but it was slow and issues with our orders and wanted dessert but didn’t order it because there were so many issues.

Took ages to order and food was not up to standard. Had to ask numerous times to order desert only yo be told the kitchen may be closed. Poor Value for money considering the quality of food too. Won’t be returning.
