CUSTOMERS TALK ABOUT DISHES WITH..pizza

comment_iconOpinions

One of the worst pubs I’ve stumbled across. Scruffy. No atmosphere. No beer (pretty much all draft beer was off). Only a couple of people inside. Expect this establishment to close imminently as there is absolutely no effort made in trying to maintain it. Just awful.

Glad to see the pub is going again under new ownership. Came before a gig at the academy and it was packed, great atmosphere. Fantastic, very reasonably priced all vegan menu (hooray!) - very much enjoyed the deep fried banana bud. Sadly the guy who served us was hopeless - we wondered if he’d ever set foot in a pub before let alone worked in one! Told us confidently there was no rose. Then told us equally confidently no dry white wine. Really? So.... what wine is there? He directed us to the wine list which was full of dry whites. Then couldn’t find the chosen bottle....and finally wanted to serve it in champagne flutes. As we sat down we noticed the people next to us drinking the non existent rose. I think what irked was that he wasn’t able to say he didn’t know, but instead just said they didn’t have stuff. Hopefully he will shape up or ship out before our next visit. Otherwise a really nice pub.

Had a really nice time here until we saw someone diagonally from the window staring at us eating our food whilst being completely naked. They had big speakers and were blaring music at us whilst we ate. He looked like ed Sheehan but am pretty sure he wasn’t.

I was seeing a concert at the O2 with my cousin and we wanted something to eat first. All the bars and restaurants were full so we came in here. It wasn't too busy and we got a table inside. The bar staff were friendly and I ordered 2 x Double Gin and Tonics, Tuna Nicoise Salad and a bowl of chips for £30. I was pleasantly surprised when the food came. The chips were home made and were served Hot and the Tuna Nicoise Salad was huge and filled me up. I would definitely recommend this pub for food and the atmosphere was great . I will be back 10/10

Looking for a place for a drink before a gig at the O2 and didn’t fancy the Wetherspoons. Walked to the Queens Head five minutes up Stockwell Road. Not entirely salubrious from the outside. What a surprise! Great atmosphere, friendly and with a courtyard to boot. Really nice place, nice and different beers. Didn’t eat but the menu looks interesting and the food looked good. Really good buzz going on. Recommended

I wanted to discover a place where one of my favorite bands (The Fat White Family) did their debuts (around 2011-2013). But the bar has changed ! Mainstream people, no live music no more... and quiz night !! I expect it'll be a kind of weird place, underground, ... (But the bartender was nice).

All I want from a pub - friendly, comfortable, good beer and food if I wanted it. Spent a very pleasant evening there yesterday. They even had excellent whisky and rum.

Decent local boozer with music on several nights of the week. Friendly staff, good pub grub and a wide selection of booze. While not outstanding there's nothing wrong with this pub.

My housemates, friends and I were looking forward to the weekly quiz night at the Queens Head. They have good draft beer, friendly staff and tasty food made up from scratch. The back yard terrasse is a bonus. I would highly recommend to pop in on a week night and/or weekend.

This was our second visit. This pub restaurant deserves many accolades. First the food is fresh and delicious - the fish and chips were like they might be in a a top Hastings fish and chip shop and the mac and cheese with hard boiled eggs and a smidgeon of cauly was delicious. It is the big selection of craft beers and ciders that make it stand out. The draft spicy cider in particular was brilliant. Only a year old, this should be a very succesful place. The management is very good. Our family arrived after the food deadline, yet the chef went back in the kitchen to specially cook it and did this with such good manner so that we didnt feel guilty. The menu is small but interesting and varied and we could not recommend more highly this lovely place just off the High Street in Brixton. Great atmosphere - give it a try you will not regret it.

A superb neighbourhood, traditional pub with something that’s rare these days, a warm welcome from the landlady and her husband. Great selection of well kept beers, eclectic mix of locals, but I do wish the management could reel in the effing and jeffing from certain elements that visit occasionally.

We had a great Sunday lunch. We started with an amazing pisco sour and then followed it with one of the best roast beef sirloins I’ve had in a long time. Service was friendly and efficient. Nothing to fault! We will be back!

Seven of us came here for family lunch on Sunday, booked well in advance. No table available; spent 30 mins in cold empty side room with no service. Were then moved to main bar, but no food for a further 90 minutes. Food ok but portion sizes minimal. Disappointing all round.

Sandwiched in-between the working class council estates and the new shiny office blocks, this is truly one of SE1’s hidden gems.
