Great neighbourhood pub that never failures to deliver - tasty food, lively atmosphere and best of all, always top notch service. This last visit, Iris looked after us and once again, made me want to return.

Enjoying what felt like the first proper sunny Sunday here was a great choice. The pork roast was excellent. And the entire experience was made all the more enjoyable by our affable and attentive waitress Matilda.

The point of a queue is to serve the person who's waited the longest. The clue is they are likely to be at the front of it. You don't blank them for no discernible reason and serve people behind them. I used to like this pub. Pathetic

Have been to the sun of camberwell a few times for a roast - it’s the only pub I’ll go to for it. It’s the best in south east for sure! Our server Iris was lovely. Atmosphere was great. Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely boho- chic pub, friendly and knowledgeable staff including the talented cooks. Convivial ambience, a place you’d want to settle in and not go anywhere else. I had one of the most delicious Sunday roasts- beef, cracking pork belly- crispy and yummy, just the right flavours. They offer vegan options too. Usually pubs have really salty food, but it’s different here and the plating was great too! A lovely Mother’s day treat! Thank you!

Great Sunday lunch with lovely staff, and we go very often. However, I had a very unpleasant experience when we called on Saturday to book for Sunday and were told we didn't need to book. That, of course, turned out to be wrong, and we were sat in a busy bar section with lots of movement around us. We had a disabled person with us, and sitting on tiny stools in a busy area was far from ideal.

Like the Sun this drinking establishment gave me that feeling that this is a central place for a good time. Now it wasn't busy at the time of my visit but you can imagine this place on a Friday/Saturday night and you can also imagine 'The Sun of Camberwell' being the place for that drink, for that burger with chips. The ambience and crowd I'm going back for Sunday lunch very soon.

Great atmosphere, drinks a little expensive but it’s London so it’s expected. The sausage and mash was fantastic, 3 homemade pork and sage sausages, buttery mash and onion gravy for £10. Baaaaargain

This is only the second time I’ve been, yet I have lived not far away for over twenty years. I will be back; As I arrived, the person at the bar greeted me and said my table might be ready. They’d check. We arrived 30 minutes early. Luckily, there was a table ready. This was Sunday lunch. I adore the atmosphere, a diverse group of people enjoying each other's company in a setting that draws you in. We ordered the delicious Sunday lunch pork belly with all the trimmings. A large serving takes some time to complete. We had to pause, continue chatting and then continue on. The meal was truly delicious and looked enticing, too. Full, we paused but didn’t want to leave without dessert. We ordered sticky toffee pudding and a brownie, both of which come with ice cream, which I passed to my aunt. We ordered teas with our meals; we would have preferred teapots instead of a cup on such a cold day. I received mint tea instead of green tea. But it wasn’t necessary to fuss, and I enjoy mint tea, so it's not the end of the world. We were sat next to the door to the outside tables. I had to pop my jacket back on so I didn’t get a chill, but again, it wasn’t a big deal. Will I be back? Yes. Will I come back on Sunday for Sunday lunch? Without a doubt. It is a true Camberwell Green gem. I’ll check out their Comedy night, too. Thank you, Matilda, for your service. 😁 The food was too delicious for us to take pictures of. We had just been walking around Ruskin Park, and our bellies were ready for the delicious offering. Also, note that the employees appear to be enjoying their work. I noticed they seemed happy with each other. Long may that continue.

Great Sunday Roast. My son especially liked The Chef's Roast which came with beef, pork and chicken.

Such a gem of a pub, good beers on tap, and good food. Go to is the sausage and mash for £8 - bargain . Recommend coming earlier in the evening because they do sell out. So lovely in the garden in summer as well!

Great pub, attentive staff, lovely beer garden, very good Sunday roasts, and a large selection of drinks, which is always a bonus. However, it feels like this pub is falling apart. Also, please, clean (or even refurbish?) the toilet facilities, they were in such an awful state when we visited yesterday (on top of that, 3 out of the 4 cubicles + hand dryer were out of order, which resulted in long queues). I wouldn’t normally nitpick and comment on things like this. I’m unsure if there’s been a change of management running the pub, etc. but it seems like it has noticeably gone a bit worse compared to previous visits, which is unfortunate.

Food is always great at The Sun, but the Sunday roasts are 10/10 - I’d go as far to say one of the best pub roasts in London, and I’ve tried a fair few! (The sticky toffee pudding is also fabulous) Atmosphere is great, drinks selection is very good and the servers are all really friendly and accommodating. We will be coming back to The Sun regularly!

Lovely atmosphere here! I'm vegetarian and this is the best Sunday roast I've found in South East London (I've tried a few!) My husband eats meat and is always equally impressed with the meat options too.

Do love this place but please clean the toilets! They’re worse than a train station. Food looks amazing but wouldn’t eat here as worry about cleanliness.

Algunos de nuestro equipo no pudieron asistir a última hora y nos olvidamos totalmente de notificar al pub... imperdonable, sin embargo nada fue un problema ella fue capaz de reajustar nuestros pedidos de comida pre-reservados con el mínimo alboroto... (a pesar de que tuve un colapso tratando de resolver las cosas! ) La comida era preciosa y la bienvenida aún más! ¡Ella es un verdadero activo para el pub!

Not to bad a roast I guess … roast potato’s were naughty! However the roast came on a wooden plate? Are you mad? Gravy went all over the shop !!… then on my jacket… it was peak! Ah well worst things have happened at sea… all in all not bad gaff

Booked The Parlour room for my 30th birthday and had the best time. In the run up to the event the staff were very helpful and responsive, on the night they were attentive but never got in the way. The food we pre ordered was amazing. We were able to decorate the room and didn't have to worry about clearing up at the end. A great party venue for around 30-40 people! Went back the next afternoon for Sunday Lunch and the food was amazing, again with great service from the staff.

Great portion of fish and chips with mushy peas and a smigging of tarter sauce... very enjoyable... The only downside was that chips were served tepid at best.. however, overall, great location only 5 min walk from KCH. So perfect for lunch / dinner after a day appointment. the rear beer garden is a hidden gem, especially when the suns out

Charged different prices depending on the server. Purchased 1 Disaronno and coke, 1 Kraken and coke. 1st time was charged £11.70, 2nd time ordering same drinks I was charged £9.40. Work that one out. Edit: this was during the early afternoon when the pub wasn't busy. I'd say less than 10 people were there and this isn't the first, second or third time it's happened. Being told it was due to a busy evening is a cop out. I've had my fair share of being charged different prices at this pub so I think I've learnt my lesson.

Seven of us came here for family lunch on Sunday, booked well in advance. No table available; spent 30 mins in cold empty side room with no service. Were then moved to main bar, but no food for a further 90 minutes. Food ok but portion sizes minimal. Disappointing all round.

Rolling through Camberwell late on a Sunday looking for a satisfying bit to eat after hanging out with friends.... Didn't expect the service at 7:30 on a Sunday...great atmosphere...the roast beef was tender juicy ... roast potatoes perfectly portioned and butter cabbage w/ roast beetroot and that jus a whole jug of it. Staff are great. Thanks guys will return for a roast definitely 😎

First time coming to this pub, but we didn't fancy cooking a roast! Booking is definitely recommended on a Sunday. We had a wonderful meal, the food was amazing. We will definitely be back!!

Good pub, nice garden, fairly pricey. Problem is with the food - tiny portions for the price. £16 for a chicken schnitzel and a meagre side salad. See pics.

I’ve been coming to this pub for years, seen it through a few changes of hand. I love it here, there’s a great beer garden and it’s usually a good time with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Last night however, my companion and I paid nearly £70 for dinner two mains some wine and a single pudding. The food was so poor it has made me ill. The steak (£18) was practically inedible, chewy, tough, tasteless “it could have been fox” is what my companion said. The salad it came with looked like scraps from the bottom of a bag. The gnocchi was gloopy cold and not ideal. Pudding was excellent however. A beer came with a large dead fly in it. Service was slow, the restaurant area was not busy at all. I wanted to say something at the time but I was feeling too unwell after the food and needed to get home. We waited ages for someone to come over but eventually had to walk to the bar to pay and the person taking payment I wasn’t sure would understand my concerns, due to language and the customary “ did you enjoy your meal ? Or How was your meal?” Was not forthcoming. .Unfortunate. I would hesitate before eating here again.

This is such a lovely place ! Friendly staff, amazing service, a constantly smiling and lovely manager called Adele. The food is very very nice and the portions are perfect . We went for Sunday roast and we will go back again as this is the kind of place you want to stay all day long and not just for a few hours . We were 4 people and we had Lamb, Chicken, Pork shoulder , pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese, sticky toffee pudding, rhubarb and custard cream, and the bill was really low, so an incredible experience with great value for money ! Will definitely go back ! No pics of food as we were hungry and scoffed everything very fast hehe

Had a roast dinner outside in the garden. Food was good with veg + GF options available and the space was nice too. Only had two small bits of roast potato though which would have been good to get some more, however everything on the plate was nice.

Back here after some years away, pleasantly surprised by welcoming staff and can recommend the meze. White wine could have been colder though and not served at room temp.

A bar-restaurant where you eat and drink well. Very welcoming and smiling waiters and always ready to give us little tips for our stay! I recommend the chicken schnitzel which was excellent.

One star after a very rude member of staff took our table from the place where we were seated after a different member of staff set that place up for us. Apart from that, it's a nice pub. Good experience with the rest of staff.

This is my local pub and I go at least once a week and feel so blessed to have such a lovely pub down the road. It’s easily my favourite pub in Camberwell. Has all the vibes, staff are lovely and food has gotten better and better over the years. My only negative comment is that all the umbrellas should be taken down when the footie’s on in the back garden because it’s hard to see the screens if you’re at the back but that’s only a minor negative and all the other positives are much more important!

Has Neck Oil or Brixton Pale Ale as Ipa type drinks. Wanted to order Halloumi fries on menu, which was on table, but apparently not served on Sundays.

One of our favorite pubs in Camberwell. The staff is super super nice and the Sunday roast is very good. We also celebrated here my sister's baby shower and it was very nice.

Totally over priced Korean Burger and chips. Bun was like something out of a supermarket, and overcooked. The chicken was tiny. Really way too expensive. In the photo, it may look big, but it was gone in 2, 3 bites!

Came here for a couple glasses of wine on a bank holiday Monday as some other pubs were shut. Nice and spacious with reasonably priced glasses of house wine. Heating was still on for some reason making it far too warm, but better than freezing. Were very good at signposting toilets when one was out of order that far.

Great pub serving good beer, wine and cocktails. They have gardens front and back, the rear one catching the afternoon sun so perfect for after-work refreshments. It can get very busy and they seem unable to cope - @SoC please get more staff at (predictably) busy times!

Simply atrocious. Dirty. Awful staff. Food took over an hour to come and was worse than bang average on arrival.

Fave pub in Camberwell! Love the atmosphere and the stable WiFi makes this a great pub to work from during the day.
