The Cambria in Lambeth

It's a good boozer, but the Sunday roast was quite disappointing. Roast potatoes a let down, and the beef was over cooked.

Nice pub but really rude service from one of the barmen. So won’t be coming back (also quite expensive)

Booked for Sunday roast as advertised on website. Not finding the roast on the menu I asked the male staff member who dismissively replied that menu on the website is just a sample. The young man should know that is good practice to sample what you actually offer, not what you don’t. He should also learn that is good practice to say goodbye and thank when we leave after three drinks to go looking for a roast… beautiful pub, unfortunately badly managed.

Drinks and atmosphere were great, lovely layout and they show sports, have a heated terraced garden with a pool table! Male staff were somewhat awkward and at times made us mildly uncomfortable but the female staff member was super accommodating and kind.

Can I just say the DM was incredible and very polite. Will definitely come back for sure.Best pub in south London. Amazing atmosphere

Fantastic place, the staff are amazing

We had an amazing time at the Cambria watching the football yesterday. We went for a roast dinner before kickoff. There was no veggie roast option that day as they'd run out of aubergine. However we asked for a pescetarian alternative and the bar staff / chef were very accommodating and offered to make us a roast with pan-fried fish as an alternative! Delighted with our visit. :)

Really wanted to keep this gem to myself because, selfishly, I didnt want it to get overcrowded 🤣 but it's really amazing place! Recently discovered and its been great every time I've been. Multiple TV's to watch games, pool table and garden at the back! Wings and Nachos are greatt!!

Nice place to enjoy and eat with the family. The selection of beers is ok. Food: We got roast chicken, fish n chips and smash burger. The food was good, but I wish the tartar sauce for the fish was homemade. It took about 30 minutes before the food arrived. Maybe because they had to pet it a bit. Operation: Friendly and helpful. We will come again.

We were greeted by a friendly lady, whom we assumed was the landlord. The pub was empty, and during the time we were there, no other customers arrived. However, we were looked after exceptionally well. The food was fresh and tasted good. Our daughter is gluten and dairy free, and she managed to find a lovely chilli she enjoyed. My husband and I had grass fed beef, burgers, slaw, and chips. Which tasted great. I was surprised that the bill was so cheap, but found out they had a January offer of 30% off food! Great value. We will definitely visit again when we're next in London. Thanks.

Nice vibe in this pub and decent beers, pool table and garden out the back, huge sports screen but doesn't seem to ruin the ambience.

Pretty good I would say...Had a few pints and a port to finish the night..friendly guy served me. On Friday we had a sweet which was very nice. Its my daughters local so its perfectly located . Proper pub!

Visited here mid-week and didn't really enjoy it. The barman has a whole act which I think he thinks is busy/ruffled/friendly. Probably aiming for East end of London vibes 30 years ago, but doesn't really work in Camberwell in 2023. Admittedly I saw one pair who knew him by name and seemed to get it, but everyone else was pretty miffed and just found it downright rude. I had one beer from the pump which was watery and had no flavour. Only drank about a quarter of it. When I put it on a table outside, the whole thing tipped so drastically when I leaned on it that I lost a good amount of it (which turned out to be a blessing!). The food didn't fare any better - ordered a dirty burger which despite being listed as chicken on the menu, turned out to be both beef and chicken, which was weird. It had no flavour, but the chips were good. Not quite sure what to say about the atmosphere except it was devoid of any. It's a shame because as a venue it looks great and should be a good pub. Hopefully things will improve.

Good beers, nice space and garden

Local pub and side street. A bit pricey for location. Bar staff used to be fab but now new ones seem grumpy all the time. The lady who used to run it was great. The new manager seems to have taken it different direction and is running it into ground. It’s a shame as it could be so so much better with a change of management.

Nice pub but the food not worth the money you pay. I’ve eaten there twice now. Most recently had ‘fish pie’ - ended up being a bowl mash.

They should probably focus on a smaller menu, but the fish and chips are exemplary. Good vibe for sport

Excellent quality when you get it: however no explanation for missing items with a roast and didn't bring sauce even though asked twice... Also heavily overpriced for a backstreet local but it is a comfortable environment.

We recently met up as a large group of friends, complete with children, for a birthday Sunday lunch celebration and this was the perfect location. Hugo was so helpful over email with various suggestions to get things right and we were located in The Garden Room. There were about 25 people in total and we had a lovely long table and there was plenty of room for the kids to run around safely without annoying others, complete with a huge box of toys in the corner. The staff were brilliant on the day, really helpful and accommodating all requests with ease around food timing and dietary requirements. Customer service and location were excellent and many within our party commented on how great the set-up was for such a mixed and large group. The perfect option for larger families and friend groups!

Nice pub and friendly staff but food service was dire. No table number or name taken and our food went to someone else. When we finally got offered food it was cold so we returned it. To be fair we were refunded without any fuss but a simple order number would solve all this.

We really hope the food improves at this pub. It is our local and we were very excited when it was revived. However, the burgers we’ve ordered are always massacred and other plates even more disappointing (ex the pork belly and burnt horrible tasting cabbage). We really want this pub to do well but as it stands the food needs a lot of work.

When I went they somehow had no food on the menu, no steak , no fish and chips , no turkey but my friends veggie burger was nice

For the area a very nice little pub. Nice and quiet very well presented and a friendly staff. Not bad at all. Worth a visit. Bit more atmosphere/character would lift it but TBF I did visit on a Thursday so can't judge to harshly.

Nice family friendly pub with a selection of board games available. The Sunday menu isn't huge, but the food was very good with the roast portion size being particularly generous. Nice selection of drinks. Would come back.

A lovely place with a nice little yard at the back, a seating/conservatory type place with blankets etc. it is very nicely decorated and the staff are incredibly nice and very helpful. The toilets are absolutely spotless! We used the upstairs room for a birthday party. It has its own bar and there are also upstairs toilets for use, again incredibly nice and clean. I thoroughly recommend visiting The Cambria, it is one of the nicest bar/pubs I've been to in a very long time!! I give it 5 stars PLUS 5 😊!

We had an amazing night last night at the relaunched Cambria in South London. They came to the rescue with a last minute booking for 15. They provided a private function room for my mates 50th birthday. Thank you to all the friendly and very helpful staff who looked after us. Been here a couple of times recently and really like it. Food is great. Recommend the soft shell crab and pork gyozas. Friendly staff and spotlessly clean too.

Since The Cambria re-opened earlier this year this is the second time we have popped in. The pub has been really well refurbished and is easily the nicest in the area between Brixton and Camberwell Grove. On our second visit yesterday visit we tried the food - the ham and chicken pie was tasty, with plenty of meat filling and well presented whilst my partners veggie burger was tasty. Staff are friendly and efficent, the outside patio is spacious and sunny but also has shaded areas. Will definitely be back

Fun place, they have themed nights during the week and a MASSIVE outside beer garden. Staff are attentive, I didn't eat, just drank some Prosecco and met with previous work colleagues.

Honestly such a great pub. It looks gorgeous inside, the people serving are all really nice and down to earth, they have a boardgame box, a beer garden, great quality bar snacks/pub mains and the quiz was so fun.

Genuinely think this is a shout for the best pub in the brixton/stockwell/camberwell/Loughborough Junction area. It is charming, well presented with a spacious, airy feel. It has a strong selection of drinks and a good sized menu with exceptional "deals" throughout the week. The inside, outside and conservatory perfectly straddle cute and cosy for the winter with beautiful wooden finishings with a nice spacious and open air pub garden for the summer. The food and drinks were good and food definitely on the stronger side of non-gastropub fare. Will definitely be coming back. A lot.

I visited this place twice, second time to give it the benefit of the doubt. I just recently moved to the area and was really excited to have this pub as my local, as it looks beautiful and has so much potential. Both times we were extremely disappointed and underwhelmed. We ordered on our first visit a jug of mojito which literally just tasted like soda water. For £24 a jug, that’s a rip off. It was served by a youngish looking fella who looked new to the job (as he had to look at the ingredients) and was extremely introverted and shy. So we put it down to experience and ordered G&T instead. Second visit, we ordered a jug of Pimms, from a black female staff (I purposefully avoided the younger looking boy). She honestly appeared so low and sad it sucked the energy out of us. Again, the jug tasted like flavoured soda water. Again, for £24, that’s a rip off. So this time, I mentioned it to her and she was again just so flat and apathic (I don’t know, maybe she had just woken up or something). She gave us another jug which was much better cause we had to instruct her ourselves to put less soda in it. Honest message to the owner: I genuinely think it might be helpful for you to observe your staff and taste these cocktail jugs. Also from a business point of view, you might want to wonder why the pub looks so empty on weekend afternoons. Perhaps it’s not the wisest decision to put a 16 year old introverted/shy boy with zero hospitality experience/skill and an apathetic bar lady as the main front staff of the bar over the weekends?

I was recommended this pub by a dog walking friend so gave it a try, My friend n my staffyxlbully went on Tues (£10 burger) and were pleasantly surprised, friendly staff, dog friendly, clean spacious, beautifully furnished and great food. Will definitely be making a few more stop here in future 10/10

Great pub, really nice decor and good gin selection. There is a really nice little beer garden out back which is a real sun trap. Have been going here after work at 5ish it's quite quiet in the week.

Came here by chance, but I'm glad we did. It's a very nice pub with friendly staff. Great beer too. If I'm ever in this area again, I'll make sure to stop by.

It was beautiful lovely open space polite staff prices are good and I would say it would be a nice place to take a lady friend for a meal but......... I have not tryed the food yet so can not comment on it but apon talking to the chief fheon I'm sur it will be very tasty.

I struggled to find anywhere to stop while I waited to visit Slime Planet, and luckily, I stumbled upon this pub with friendly staff. It has recently been renovated and looks lovely with a fantastic garden. They have a Brixton brewery larger on the tap, which made me very happy :-)

We visited on Father's Day for the first time since the Cambria reopened and had a good experience. The service was friendly and attentive and the food arrived quickly, even though the restaurant was busy. Prices are reasonable. We both enjoyed our meals - one roast and one vegetarian. It was a nice touch to offer dads a free glass of wine! The Cambria is our local pub and on the strength of our Sunday lunch we'll definitely be returning.

We decided to drop by for a drink to see the changes in this newly renovated pub. The staff were super friendly and gave fresh water and a treat for our dog.

I’ve been here for lunch twice and had a positive experience. Staff were attentive and friendly and food was tasty, so decided to invite friends for Sunday lunch on my birthday. It was very disappointing. Our food had to be sent back because it was cold. On its return, some of the food was still cold. We realised we couldn’t keep sending the plates back. Staff reduced the bill but we just wanted to leave. It’s a shame because I’d had good recent experiences so maybe it’s a one off or maybe a different set up on Sunday…

Beautiful pub with friendly staff but unfortunately lacking any experience.. The food (we were a party of 6) was terrible and dreadfully expensive. Investment in a proper chef and some experienced staff is needed if this pub wants to last longer then 6 months.. 🤞🤞🤞

Went for a Sunday roast today, first time for food here in this beautifully refurbed pub local to me. Service was very good - friendly, responsive and accommodating. Food was disappointing - ordered the pork and you don’t get much bang for your buck. Small fatty piece of pork without the apple compote or crackling as promised on the menu. When queried waitress relayed on a message from the kitchen that you have to ask for the apple? For £17 you’d expect more, even in this city. Friends ordered scampi and again no danger of leaving you stuffed. Will go again, but just for drinks.

Amazing bar staff and so friendly and welcoming. Iona and Nii were so warm. Not walked into a pub and had such a nice chat in a very long time. 5*’s all around x

Just been to the Cambria for a lovely lunch with my best mate! What a brilliant pub. It has just been take over by new management. We met Lauren and Nii what lovely bar staff they really have excellent people skills! The pub is just what a pub should be. Wooden floor, comfy tables and chairs, squashy sofas and cushions. Everything clean and loads of drinks available. My friend had the pork chorizo skewers, salad and skinny fries. I had steak and chips. We both agreed this was one of the best pub meals we have ever had, really excellently cooked and plenty of it. They are having a jubilee street party we plan to be back for that. So pleased this pub is on our corner.

The Sunday roast was fantastic. The renovations have made it into a lovely space. It is also family friendly.

Good pub not far from Loughborough Junction recently reopened and smartly refurbished after a long period of closure. Large garden to the rear. 3 cask ales on handpump when I visited. Substantial menu including vegetarian and vegan options.
