This is a hidden gem in Danbury. The coffee is wonderful and cheaper than nearly everywhere else. There are lots of food and drinks to choose from with beautiful home made cakes. The cafe has tables, chairs and settees and there are extra chairs if needed. It is run by volunteers and there is a lovely atmosphere when you enter. The cafe opens into the hall where mothers and toddlers meet and other large groups. It is attached to the Church but is open to everyone. There is plenty of parking and also blue badge parking. This is certainly a community cafe and a community asset.

Don’t speak, don’t move, don’t breathe!!! Having enjoyed a previous Halloween visit to this pub, we returned last night with the same hopes. Staff were wearing fancy dress and at first appeared to welcome us, in our similar dress code. Our money was welcomed as we bought a rather large round of drinks and nothing said about us arriving mid way through a pub quiz. Our feeling of being welcomed was very short lived as once the quiz re started, staff members became very rude, repeatedly dressing us down over the microphone, demanding our silence, where other groups were left to be loud and rowdy. When a male patron felt it appropriate to also be rude and confrontational to out group of ladies, this was ignored by the staff, seemingly endorsing his outrageous behaviour. As we approached the bar again (for our 2nd drink of the evening), we were denied sambuca, under the pretence of this being for quiz participants only. On questioning this, the bar staff then changed their tune, stating the group had obviously had enough to drink and accused one of the group of being ill in the bathroom (untrue and seemingly made up). There was not single hint of the staff being concerned for anyone’s welfare in this situation. Rather than effectively and politely communicating with us, they focusing on doing their darnedest to make us feel uncomfortable and to drive us out of their ‘local pub’. Such rudeness and shocking customer service is appalling, especially in a day and age where smaller pubs and restaurants are loosing out to bigger chains. For the staff working last night who were involved - shame on you.

Hate to complain, but I was extremely disappointed when I paid £13.00 for 2 tiny chicken and bacon wraps. Must be new produce and ingredients used with the new management. As I remember the wrap being double the size firstly, and with freshly cooked warm chicken and bacon. Along with a huge Great hair that was wrapped up in the wrap, things like that make me feel really sick so of course I threw the whole thing away, even more of a waste of money. Perhaps staff need to wear hair nets as well as having their hair tied back. I used to love this place and I'd happily pay higher price for better quality.

Chose to have the caesar salad & paid £3.50 extra to have some slices of chicken. The salad was mainly lettuce and served in a bowl the size of a soup dish. If I hadn't had to pay when I ordered the food I would have refused to pay on leaving. £16.25 for a bowl of salad with 3 strips of chicken. When it was brought to the table I asked about cutlery & the lad said you can get it over by the till where you paid. Great customer service. Won't be going again.
