The best restaurants serving Italian food in Gateshead North East

Now called the Italian kitchen.......ordered a takeaway, 2 garlic mushrooms, 1 margarita pizza, 1 calazone pizza, 1 chips.......over £36 for a takeaway, calazone not much bigger than the size of a large hand, strangest taste of a pizza we have ever had, the ciabatta that the garlic mushrooms came with was on the bottom so that was very soggy, not our idea of nice food, staff were lovely.

Never been to sambuca before and I never really wanted too as I know it's a chain and the food is likely all frozen, mass produced, and thrown into a microwave, we called in because my daughter was off school that day and we had a trip into ikea, ridiculous queues for the restaurant so we left, she's pasta mad and sambuca having the afternoon specials on, decided on giving it a go, gut instinct told me not to bother, but my daughter ruled the roost on this occasion, 3 courses for just under a tenner, Sat down and ordered some drinks, my full fat coke was flat, great start, Starter: Potato skins- thick, greasy, with a side of awful garlic mayo, terrible, Main: arrabbiata- a very weak thin sauce, lumps of cherry tomatoes and sliced uncooked green chillies mixed into the dish, over done tagliatelle, my word, this truly was the worst Italian meal I think I have ever had, My wife had the lasagne, you know it's been in the microwave when it comes to the table in a silly little white dish thats hotter than the sun and its overflowing with bubbling cheese and tomato sauce, ridiculous, my daughter had the spaghetti bolognese and to be fair, this wasn't bad whatsoever, the specials come with an ice cream at the end, just plonked onto the table, no choice on flavours, obviously only vanilla available, (2 scoops) covered in a strawberry syrup that i didn't ask for, couldn't wait to leave, a truly disappointing experience, hand on heart i will never return to this chain again.

Love Zizzys in the Metrocentre Gateshead the food is always good but today on Mother's Day 30th March 2025 they failed miserably. While finishing eating the starter two of the main courses arrived. There was three of us and the third arrived after 30 minutes and was disgusting. Here's what happened, they forgot about the 3rd main and rushed it through. The lad who served us was so disinterested he should not be working there. I paid £105 for poor service and poor quality food. As a food critic I will be reporting back. Why did two of the mains arrive so early and one was forgotten. Weak management and poor staff . What a shame letting the people who pay their wages down

Fab atmosphere, friendly locals and great drinks offers. Amazing little sun trap in the beer garden. Clean and tidy! Lots to do across the week including bingo, free pool (Tuesdays) and karaoke. Definitely worth a visit - don’t be put off by past reviews with previous owners!

Nephew loves this place so we came for lunch. I was given the wrong dish. No real issue and correct one brought out. We were very surprised to have £10 taken off this bill for this. Great service. Food is decent, just book as it gets very busy. Server really made a fuss of nephew getting ice cream too, receipt says Tyler so hopefully that was her.

Great value, friendly service. Love the variety on the specials board. The Greek salad starter is a meal on its own! The vegetables served with the main,meals are fantastic.

Segunda visita en el mes después de mudarse de vuelta a Whickham. El personal es lo suficientemente amable, pero cuando se trata de la calidad de la comida es pobre. Entrantes pedidos. . ajo champiñones & bruschetta, red , carbonara & calzone. En una palabra, Soso sin gusto, lo siento pero dos visitas y se fue sintiendo lo mismo por lo que no habrá una vuelta. Esperemos que los chefs mejoren o cambien porque es un pequeño lugar agradable.

A big thank you to Neil who let us dine upstairs away from a busy restaurant due to over stimulation. Very kind and was attentive even with us out the way. Very much appreciated. Food was delicious! We both got a duo romana pizza and all topping were great and the dough balls with cheese were really really good!

Went with my wife and daughter. Went for all you can eat...bad choice.pizzas were rubbish lack of toppings,sloppy or burnt was the choice,thin slice was like tracing paper,garlic bread was dry as a sand storm,pasta was over cooked and sloppy. When nothing was left,we waited and waited for fresh to arrive.Even the icecream was like water with hardly any toppings as i remember. Never experienced a worse Pizza hut in my life.pure shambles not worth the £50 spent.we will never use Pizzahut again.pure mullet.
