Absolutely Incredible! 5 Stars I recently visited Helmsley Spice in York, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm, friendly service, making me feel right at home. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering dishes, all packed with authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. Every bite was a delight — the spices were perfectly balanced, and the portion sizes were generous. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, with a relaxed atmosphere that made for an enjoyable dining experience. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations for those new to Indian cuisine. Whether you're a fan of classic dishes or looking to try something new, Helmsley Spice delivers on every front. If you're in York and craving high-quality, flavorful Indian food, this is the place to go. Will definitely be returning!

This place used to be amazing. Unfortunately it is now a run down poor excuse of its former self. We pulled into the car park almost sure that the restaurant had closed down. The place looked in a state of disrepair with paint falling of the walls and window frames. We were just about to leave when a member of staff came out and assured us they were open. Dubiously we went in, remembering how great it used to be. Inside, the decor was not much better, it was very tired, in need of some TLC and investment but as we were the only people in the place I guess that investment won't be coming any time soon as this place cannot possibly be trading very much longer unless it survives on take-away trade. Upon taking our drinks order, we were disappointed to be informed that they had no beer (draught or bottled) so had soft drinks. Unfortunately the disappointment didn't stop there as when our main courses came out, one was inedible and the other extremely salty to the point where it was only just edible. To be fair, the staff did offer to replace both of our meals, but we felt that the damage was done and just wanted to leave. I would strongly recommend you avoid this place, it is certainly not what it used to be. Such a huge shame.
