The Beer Engine

Newbrooke, Mid Devon
20/11/2019: This lovely pub and restaurant is well worth a visit.
06/11/2019: Met friends for dinner on a Monday night and it was still quite busy so worth booking a table. The menu was fantastic with lots of great choices and when the food arrived it did not disappoint - really tasty I have stuffed chicken breast which was outstanding, and the best chicken dish I have had in a long while. Staff really friendly and the pub is nice and cosy with open fire burning - great meal out.

The Ring of Bells

Way, Mid Devon
28/11/2019: Our first visit to this very old and charming pub in Cheriton Fitzpaine. There was a very good atmosphere in the pub and an interesting menu that should satisfy most tastes. The service was friendly and helpful and the food was served quickly. The food itself was very good and all four of us enjoyed the meal. Also a nice selection of ales and some tasty puddings.
19/11/2019: Featured in the latest Alastair Sawday pub guide and joint runner up in the Daily Telegraph 2019 pub of the year. Well worth the drive from Torquay to find this "proper" cosy pub with log fires and warm welcome from landlady Binka, not to mention their adorable little pub dog, Scampi. A cross between a Dachshund and Jack Russell. Binky will be jealous. Excellent food from the rightly short menu. Great fish and chips, perfectly cooked plump mussels. Proper linen napkins.

The Stag Inn

Westexe, Mid Devon
23/11/2019: Lovely pub really cosy and cute inside. Nice log fire. We had the burger and plaice and both were excellent. We thought we were going for 'pub grub' but we got better than that.
03/11/2019: We enjoyed a lovely evening meal with family/ friends. The pub was a perfect antidote from a rather wet and cold night, with a open fire and a cosy atmosphere. The team are all very welcoming and the service was excellent. We were allowed to sample the draught beers before making that all important decision. The food was beautifully cooked and presented and everyone enjoyed it. The homemade bread served before the main meal was gorgeous - just make sure you leave room for your main and of course one of the yummy desserts. Thank you for creating such a lovely place for us to enjoy.

The Ashill Inn

Cullompton South, Mid Devon
20/11/2019: called in for lunch and had the best fish pie ever. This little pub never dissappoints. so lucky to live close by.

Canal Tea Rooms and Gardens

Castle, Mid Devon
01/10/2019: This was our first but not our last visit to these delightful Tea Rooms. We went as a family party with a disabled wheelchair user. Nothing was too much trouble although it was a nice day and they were extremely busy. Tea and scones were equally enjoyed and we will be back.
28/09/2019: What a great little find! A quirky Tea Room predominantly outdoors. We sat in the sun and had a lovely Devonshire cream tea. What more could you ask for? This place is a hidden gem. Can't wait to see you again!

Black Dog Inn

Sandford and Creedy, Mid Devon
21/11/2019: I cannot fault this place or the people that run it. Lovely food, great atmosphere, good ale and the husband and wife team there are brilliant. I wandered down from the place I was staying nearby, to be truthful not expecting much. How wrong I was! There was even a cracking soundtrack on the jukebox laid on for me! How did they know my musical taste?
06/11/2019: Went for sunday carvery got a very warm and friendly welcome. The carvery was excellent with plenty of choice. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be going again.

The George Inn

Lower Culm, Mid Devon, >100£
18/10/2019: Wonderful little pub in the village. Very friendly staff and accommodating to our large family group. Super friendly to the dogs too, not surprising their own dog was so well behaved. The food and service was excellent. Well done team George!
09/10/2019: My partner and I were self catering in uffculme and wanted a meal on the sunday. Im not that keen on roasts but the one we had was delicious and I ate every morsel. The landlady Andrea and her husband were so charming and the dog nikita I fell in love with. If we ever go up that way again we would definitely drop in there. We had another meal there the night before we came home to Cornwall.

Cadeleigh Arms

Cadbury, Mid Devon
03/12/2019: Excellent food and location. The roast is my favourite and the apple tart! Been here a few times and never dissappointed.
21/11/2019: First a word of advice. If you have never been before and are coming from Tiverton do not use your sat nav unless you crave adventure as it will lead you down some tortuous rabbit tracks, through a farm, past some logging onto the muddiest and narrowest roads I have ever driven on. The car was filthy and I am grateful we had four wheel drive.

The London Inn

Sandford and Creedy, Mid Devon
29/10/2019: And a good job we booked. Very nice pub, excellent pint and giant plate of proper home cooked food. Top job. Love Devon; there are many locals of comparable quality doing proper home cooking for sensible money. Thinks perhaps we’ll retire here. The London Inn is certainly one of the better ones, and certainly the only one with Vera. Try it and see! Recommended.
29/09/2019: Local food done so well! nothing fancy just fantastic quality ( and quantity ) in a warm welcoming environment The roast is fab my favourite is the Cod in creamy mushroom sauce

08/11/2019: I initially messaged this establishment on Facebook to find out if they were family friendly. I was delighted to firstly hear they were and secondly with the speedy response. The staff and owner were very friendly, welcoming and polite. It’s a gorgeous building and they have really made the most of the features. They offered a promt service, great variety and overall a truly lovely experience. I would highly recommend.

Toucan Cafe Bistro

Clare and Shuttern, Mid Devon, >100£
24/11/2019: well how do i start , I was taken by my friends Stan and Shirley for what they stated was the happiest place to eat the best Sunday Roast in Devon, the weather was awful ice cold wind with the sting of rain , dark clouds skudded across the sky enen the birds were silent, but sunshine was just a few steps away in the guise of the Toucan Cafe/Bistro, this bright and sparkling little diamond of a eating house was warm and cosy ,the staff were warmer and it was packed to capasity with locals all ages but like me pensioners, wheel chairs no problem , service nothing to touch it ,food beautiful all really home made and fresh as the day it was picked,, this was great but the thing that most delighted me was the way the staff and owners treated their flock of diners, never seen such care and normality given to us all their children came down and joined in with all of us, the older folk really enjoyed this as much as i did as these youngsters were really gold star and full of fun and made the whole place shine, the waitress that served us was also on the same wavelength and no one in that fine place could be treated any better than they were, only the one sitting which made it feel like home from home, ive witnessed the treatment of the elderly and felt disgusted but the Toucan is oh so pro life ,what ever age you are , thank you Stan and Shirley for introducing me to this haven in the Devon hills
10/10/2019: Went for a Sunday roast with a group of family and friends. Food was very good and the staff all friendly and helpful.

Half Moon Inn

Upper Culm, Mid Devon
11/11/2019: Wonderful food, lovely welcoming staff, the landlady is very knowledgable about her food. Hope to visit again soon.
27/10/2019: In need of a trad Sunday roast without the cooking and managed to secure a table at The Half Moon. Busy, buzzing bar; roaring log fire and a delicious (almost as good as home) Sunday roast. Glorious ice cream and local cider set us up nicely for an autumn day dog walk. Highly recommended.
