The Prince of Wales

Cathedrals, Southwark, <20£
05/04/2020: Shantel was great and the family enjoyed not only the service but the food as well. We had the shepherds pie and fish n chips
21/03/2020: We came here for dinner as the place was close to our hotel and had good reviews on TripAdvisor. It's a simple place, nothing fancy, but the food was good and the service was friendly. My wife had the fish and chips and I had the chicken massala. Both were very good. We had the toffee pudding for dessert which was really great. As tourists it was an excellent place to experience a London pub.

Zeret Kitchen

Camberwell Green, Southwark
10/06/2020: I’ve been visiting the Zeret Kitchen since they opened and they are one of the restaurants I’ve missed the most during the whole pandemic. When they announced they were opening the doors again, albeit only for takeaway, I was delighted.I just picked up our second take away from them in the last week and, as ever, it is exceptional. If you haven’t tried them before, check them out. If you have, you’ll know just how fantastic they are and you, like me, will be so glad they’re open again.
15/03/2020: I came here yesterday with my partner and children. We were treated with much respect and warmth. Although the children didn't order the main big dish we had, they made a completely different dish for them and didn't put to much spice. From start to finish we got fantastic service, we left with so much laughter and our stomach was so full. This is a great place to try homemade traditional Ethiopian food.Highly recommended 5*****Nura + Adem x

Arment WJ & Son

Faraday, Southwark, <20£
26/06/2020: I love Arments Pie & Mash! It's my fave and my go to comfort food. Espeically needed in these unprecedented times.I have never had it delivered though. Until today.Well packaged. Good reheating instructions.Tasty food as always!I know Arments has recently reopened for take away which is great. If I lived a little closer I'd be there all the time!
05/06/2020: Due to the Coronavirus we have been unable to get our usual 'fix' of the best pie and mash bar none. We used the online service for the 1st time and it was brilliant and easy from start to finish. Got this as a family treat for our grandsons 1st birthday( 5 adults really but good excuse). Tastes as good as always and a brilliant addition to all us Sarf Londoners no longer living in the area. Will defo be using again until we can get back down to our favourite eaterie in the whole world!!

Laughing Gravy Bar & Restaurant

Cathedrals, Southwark, 30-45£
21/03/2020: We had a very nice dinner at the laughing GravyThe hamburger was very good, and the Casareccia pasta was really special. For dessert we had the Lemon and almond polenta cake, which was also very special and tasty. The atmosphere was nice and quiet, suitable for a nice talk over dinner. The service was very friendly and professional. I highly recommend it!
15/03/2020: Having read previous reviews, we decided to visit this Restaurant on our next visit to the Waterloo area. We booked a lunch for 4 people and from our arrival to departure the service was friendly and very attentive. The decor and ambience of this little gem of a restaurant is more than matched by the quality of the food served. We had 3 courses of various dishes , and we could not find fault with any of them. The service was first class to match the food, and we would recommend anyone to try this place out.

Fine Foods

Chaucer, Southwark
18/02/2020: Visited the restaurant here for Valentine’s Day and loved it. Such fresh and amazing tasting food and we left very happy! I’m so glad I found this place I would 100% recommend it and would definitely go again. It’s a very small, intimate setting so it makes for a lovely romantic evening.

10/02/2020: A friendly, simple - almost divey - wine bar. Good selection of bottles, the by the glass offerings are a little limited. Beer and cider available too. And some decent eatables like nachos and hummus and cheese plates.
22/01/2020: (Traducido por Google) Gran servicio y trabajo. (Original) Great service and job.

Mama's Cafe

Cathedrals, Southwark
19/02/2020: We loved the breakfast and the service. Everything was very tasty and the Coffee was good too! Can recommend it to everyone :)

Oxo Tower Restaurant, Bar & Brasserie

Cathedrals, Southwark
16/06/2020: Took the family here for a birthday celebration, amazing food, amazing views and outstanding service. We loved it here!
25/05/2020: I retired on May 1st, and my wife had arranged for me to have a celebratory meal with the family the following Sunday lunchtime. Sadly, Covid 19 took over and our meal had to be postponed. However, the staff at Oxo Tower were superb with my wife when she was making the booking, ensuring that we had a special table, and the follow up service since the cancellation has been equally excellent, and we have been assured that we will be given a warm welcome to mark the occasion as soon as we are allowed out to play again! I look forward to seeing you all in thenot to distant future!

The Blacksmith's Arms

Surrey Docks, Southwark, 20-30£
15/03/2020: After walking out the restaurant in doubletree by Hilton as it was appalling we decided to try this great pub out for dinner on Saturday night . Fortunately we were early and got a table , had great food , very tasty , cooked to perfection. Good service in a nice lively atmosphere. Hao our waitress was very good and attentive.
11/03/2020: This is the second time I've raved about this traditional pub, run under the expert eye of Tommy the Guvnor. He's young, he's passionate about his trade & best of all, he's properly local. No gentrification nonsense here. Locals, who've lived in the area all their lives, mix with tourists popping in from The Hilton a few yards away, and the atmosphere is always upbeat, cheery and welcoming. This is a genuine, traditional pub - but the food... ah, the food! It's absolutely excellent. And I'm fussy. I can spot a microwave from a hundred paces. We've eaten here countless times and never, ever had a poor meal. It's fresh, it's properly prepared, the specials of the day really are just that & what I admire is that Tommy & the chefs aren't scared of trying out new dishes that you wouldn't expect to find. Fresh fish dishes, Asian fusion - it's a broad spectrum. Anyhooo... we popped in for a Sunday lunch & both fancied the Steak & Ale Pie. Wow! This was a belter. Perfectly cooked steak (and plentiful) excellent sauce inside & the pastry was just right. Seriously, the best steak & ale pie I've ever encountered (and yes, I'm matching it right up there with the classic Shepherd's Pie at The Ivy in London - not the Ivy Cafes, I mean THE Ivy). Best of all, they love dogs here, which is handy as we have two.

Arabica Bar & Kitchen

Cathedrals, Southwark
10/04/2020: I live close by and visit Arabica probably once a month. I have never had a bad meal here, and the service is always excellent. In the summer it’s great to sit outside, but if you manage to get a table inside, it’s comfortable and not too crowded. The cocktail options are seriously good too. Food options I’d recommend are the truffle & mushroom manoushe, the moutabel dip and the fattoush salad. Can’t wait to get back here once the lockdown is lifted!
15/03/2020: There was nothing particularly 'bad' about the place, but nothing to recommend it either. With SO many restaurants in London, I'd choose somewhere else. Things you might want to know:-A bit pricey -Fairly limited menu-Not gluten free friendly (Salad was the only real GF friendly entree)-Food was 'meh'-Waiter worked (too) hard to upsell us on drinks when we clearly weren't interested.-Atmosphere was nothing special.

Caf Amisha

Grange, Southwark
17/05/2020: I often ask for almond/soy milk in my americano because most of the time in London coffee has a bitter than usual aftertaste (almost burnt), have tasted many since I’ve moved here three years ago. This morning back from a run I really wanted some coffee, they had just opened and didn’t have almond milk on hands so I went on and ordered just a black americano, no sugar! I’m very glad I did that, the coffee was genuinely very good!! Glad I live nearby so I can get a taste of home coffee (I’m Italian) every time I want
28/03/2020: The food is authentic Italian, freshly cooked and lovely wines. Every day they have the special food of the day so you will always be surprised. It may be lambchop, or a special kind of fish, buratta or sea food linguini. Who knows!? The tiramisu is to die for!!

Rabot 1745

Cathedrals, Southwark, 20-30£
20/03/2020: This has both Rabot 1745 and hotel chocolate products in their shop and a chocolate themed Resturant upstairs overlooking Borough Market. Always helpful and friendly staff, with a great range of chocolates. Well worth a visit for all chocolate lovers.I love their roasted whole coco beans, a special thanks to the manger who helped find me their last bag hiding in the back of the stock room.
19/03/2020: Booked a little while ago, and went nearly a week ago. Glad we went. The service was friendly and helpful. The cocktails we had (a Praline, and a Salted Caramel soother) were AMAZING! We had very nice main courses - duck, and chicken. The desserts were stunning - Molten Lava cake, and Apricot tartlet. Would definitely recommend, and would definitely go back again. We hope they make it safely through to the other side of the Covid-19 chaos. Thanks for a lovely meal :-)

Cote Brasserie - London Bridge- Hays Galleria

Riverside, Southwark
16/04/2020: The food if I'm honest is quite average but the price and the location really elevate the place. I had a 3-course set menu for £20. I had mussels in cider, half a Breton chicken with fries and creme caramel. The chicken was a bit dry and I can't say the food was fantastic but it was very pleasant and fantastic value. My only real criticism is that these set menus are only available after 3pm which is a bit of a weird time to eat. At other Cotes they seem to be available at more normal lunch times. The service seemed to come in two halves. In the first half we were largely ignored and it was difficult to get anyone's attention but then a new waitress popped up and she was super friendly and attentive. I imagine it must be nice to sit outside by the river during the summer but I liked the relaxed feel inside anyway.

Porky's BBQ Bankside

Cathedrals, Southwark, 20-30£
10/03/2020: It's alright. Expensive for what it is and not tasty enough to justify the pricing.
10/03/2020: Best Beer Pong in London, Ribs were great too!
