The best restaurants in Oundle East Northamptonshire East Midlands

We’ve been twice and the food is wonderful. They have to set up everything for kitchen and tables from scratch each week, as it’s an experiment to test demand, using a local cafe premises, which I find amazing. We had starters of scallops with pork belly and crackling, rabbit terrine, then duck and venison. Stunning. Good wine too. Definitely recommend if you love well cooked, beautifully presented food. Not expensive either.

Fabulous place. Nicely decorated and the food was just amazing. On top of all that, the staff were friendly and helpful. Can't say enough good things about this place. Wished we lived nearer Tewkesbury!

Whenever I have been at dexters the service has always been so good. Such lovely and kind staff there as well. I usually go there for breakfast but have been for lunch a few times also and never been disappointed. Most definitely my fav place to go to in oundle. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Our dinner at The Rose and Crown was a lovely experience from start to finish. The atmosphere in the bar area when we walked in was lively, filled with cheerful locals enjoying their weekend, and the adjoining American Diner themed restaurant area felt bright, fun and welcoming. We were warmly greeted by our brilliant host, Kim, who gave us an in depth introduction to the menu and made us feel very much at home. Kim’s home made Thai Green Curry (this place offers so much more than just excellent burgers!) was delicious, with just the right amount of kick, and my partner’s steak pie was hearty and flavoursome. If only we’d had room left to try the desserts, which sounded amazing! Our whole experience was made all the more enjoyable by meeting Kim, who runs the show with skill, experience and a huge serving of care and attention, and who went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Our food, delivered to us by Kim herself, came with a great big serving of cheeky humour and fun, which we just loved. Thank you for Kim!

Great place for lunch, great food, great friendly service and reasonable prices

Sadly, the Kings Head has now closed, and is unlikely to re-open...another victom of rising energy costs.

A very good coffee shop with excellent service and high-quality food. I especially appreciated the fresh salad that accompanied all our meals. However, I can’t give a full five stars due to two minor issues that could be improved. Firstly, we purchased crisps with our meals, but it was not made clear beforehand that crisps were already included with what we ordered. This could have been communicated more effectively. Secondly, the toasties my mother and I ordered were placed directly on top of our napkins, causing cheese to get all over them. While the staff were quick to provide replacements, this was an avoidable oversight, as it should have been obvious that the cheese would transfer onto the napkins. Despite these small issues, we had a great experience, and I would still recommend this coffee shop.

Visited on a busy Sunday and had an excellent bowl of Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash soup, as well as an excellent latte. There is always a good atmosphere and it is a relaxing place to visit.

Me and my friend Annette stopped at The Shuckburgh Arms last Saturday until Sunday morning. We had such a lovely time we didn't want to leave. The hospitality of Georgia and Paul was absolutely fantastic they were so warming to us and made you feel very welcome. The evening meal and breakfast was really nice I would definitely come back again. The room was cosy and the bed was very comfy. Thank you Georgia and Paul.

An excellent fish and chip shop. This is by far the best fish and chip shop in the area and I look forward to my next visit.

Fantastic makeover for this traditional village pub. Reopened on Christmas eve, nice selection of Nene Valley Brewery beers as well as the usual lager and spirit selection. They how to start coffee, pastries and full menu soon, but this is a phenomenal start and brings so much life into the village!!

I love going here on my lunch break. I've been working near by greedy piglet for a while and I'm always trying to make time to spend my lunch time there. It's very welcoming and has a nice calm atmosphere. The staff are very, very pleasant and accommodating. The menu is straightforward and they more than happy to serve food thats not even on the menu. The food is always fantastic. And they have NEVER left me wondering how much longer my food is going to take. An absolute, no hesitation to walk in and enjoy. You'll not be disappointed.

I have eaten at the George three times since it changed hands last autumn. First time I came with friends. We all had the Pan Asian dishes and thoroughly enjoyed them. My goat curry was amazing. I had to bring my family to taste it too. They all loved it. And then tonight we tried lamb biryani and both meat and vegetarian sharing platters. It was all delicious. The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. We love Indian food and are looking forward to another meal at the George.
