We booked for a meal for 14 for a friends 60th Birthday. Despite traffic problems and some arriving later than expected the team delivered a seamless service and went above and beyond to provide a beautiful dessert for our vegan birthday girl. I can't recommend this place highly enough

This is a little known secret of the Purbecks, every bit as good as the best hotel restaurants in Wareham and Corfe that are more expensive and much harder to book. The dishes on the simple menu are all first rate (well done, chef!), wine choice great, service excellent and the terrace view outside on a summer evening to die for. In the winter, snug too, with a fire in the lounge for those who arrive early.

Popped in here whilst visited the cove for some fudge and to have a look at the “dolls house”. A very cool little house which they have turned into a shop.

I happened upon this cafe after being told about it by a local. I was camping nearby and, after experiencing a late lunch, went back for breakfast the following day. I should add that my lunch was excellent but breakfast, a sausage bap and a mug of tea, was out of this world: the sausages were huge, that's all I can say! Moreover, to sit next to the ornamental pond without a soul around added a certain je ne sais quoi!

The best Mint Choc Chip Ice-cream..... that is not green! As well as other great flavors, Jake's has a plethora of flavors' but this topped the bill.

Popped in initially to get some respite from the rain on a visit to Lulworth cove. We were greeted by a lady who offered us a table and told us to order food at the bar - but she did warn they had reservations for dinner coming in so there were busy. Having looked at the menu we decided to stop and have Sunday dinner as it looked good. Wish we hadn’t bothered. Girl on the bar was very frosty and not particularly helpful, she barely looked up and had really quite a rude attitude. We ordered 2 x roast beef for the adults and 2 x burgers meals for the children. I did ask if the kids meal of southern fried chicken comes with chips and was scoffed at and told no! That old famous dish for children of chicken dippers and mixed leaves on the menu! Strange combination! Anyway - the roast beef dinners we received were passable - much smaller than what others around us appeared to be getting but actually taste wise not a terrible meal but certainly not worthy of a £20 price tag. The kids burgers came absolutely smothered in ketchup / mayo mix which again is a brave move - nothing mentioned on the menu about it and my children didn’t enjoy it at all. No one came to clear the table in order to get the children the ice creams as paid for as part of the children’s meal. After about 30 mins I went up the bar to ask - was advised they would come out in a minute. Another 15 / 20 mins passed and still nothing. Had to go and ask again and found the waitress just chilling at the end of the bar - having completely forgotten about us. Asked again and she returned with two little pots of ice cream. Such a fantastic location- they really need to fine tune the level of customer service and take the food up a notch. Perhaps a mix and match kids menu like other pubs would be beneficial? I’d save your money and go elsewhere to be honest. We will be returning to the cove but will walk straight past this place!

Visited this cafe today and the service was really bad. The lady serving us was very rude. The order took over 1 hour for fish and chips and panni’s. We ordered for two adults and two kids. Really wasn’t worth the wait when it arrived. Over priced , poor service and not clean. Not sure what the hygiene rating is but the place wasn’t clean. The lady that took my order was extremely rude and questioned my son on why we needed four dessert spoons after we ordered desserts and refused to give us more than two dessert spoons and asked us to take the wooden ones instead. Very old behaviour. We also noticed that a lot of people that arrived after us received their order before us. Would really avoid this place as the food was average but more importantly the staff were not helpful and rude. Disappointing as we wanted to buy a painting inside but due to the poor experience decided not too.

Thought we'd give it a shot to have real seafood, not fish and chips. They do have real seafood, but a very limited menu, and the chef seems to be a bit afraid of spices and salt. Fairly bland food overall, though the balsamic reduction on the veg was nice. It didn't help that when we asked for salt (there was none on the table) it exploded on the side of my wife's plate. Luckily, most of the salt explosion stayed on the side, leaving just enough on the food to make it OK. I didn't argue the bill, but I also don't think I'd return.

Terrible and would not go back. Tables outside were not being wiped down or cleaned between customers and the plastic wicker chairs were all broken and horrible to sit on. All the food came out to find they forgot to put my food order through, so had to sit and wait and by the time it came out my husband and kids has finished. And when it did come out it was the biggest disappointment, DO NOT order the warm chicken and bacon salad with honey mustard dressing, it's basically a bowl or shredded iceberg with some sweetcorn and cherry tomatoes and a bit of onion thrown in and a measly few bits of chicken placed on top, with a pot of mayo in the middle, £14 for this is ridiculous. I must say though as don't like to be too critical on a small business, my husband said the crab burger was lovely. I am all for supporting small businesses but I would never return here.

We'd read the mixed (mainly bad reviews!) before camping at next-door Primrose Fields and couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The family that ran the pub were lovely; warm, welcoming, accommodating and friendly. It was a super hot day and I didn't fancy a hot meal which is all they had on the menu - so I asked if there was any chance of a sandwich - no fuss, no bother - I wasn't made to feel difficult at all! Sandwich was big and delish; tuna crunch with salad on fresh tiger bloom and a side of tasty chips. The rest of our party had a mix of burgers, scampi, more sandwiches (I set a trend!), all of which were very well received. Not a morsel left. After lunch, I went to see if they might have any ice creams, and very kindly, they sold us six cornettos which were evidently from their family supply - I was really impressed with their above and beyond attitude. In addition, the pub garden is lovely; big mature trees, a wildlife pond, big lawn with sun and shade seating options, mini play park for the kids - all set way back from the road so you really feel you're in the middle of the country. All in all, it felt more like going to someone's house than a pub which I really liked. Would definitely recommend to any campers or passers by.
