Four of us went out to celebrate a Ruby wedding anniversary. We couldn't order the cocktails we were hoping to have as they only have one bartender who makes them, and he hadn't turned up to work. I asked for a Bacardi and Coke, they don't stock it, then a Gordon's gin, they didn't have that either. I walked round to see the restaurant that had just a couple of occupied tables. We asked to see the manager. He was rude, abrupt, and argued with us! He made the situation worse and had no managerial skills. Obviously, we didn't stay to eat. Instead, we went to a professional restaurant, Sotirios, which we regularly use. The welcome and service there made up for the bad experience in The Bay Tree. I've done this review to advise other people, but I would appreciate some response back from The Bay Tree to acknowledge they are aware of the abrupt manner their manager has towards their guests.

I have been going to this restaurant for 4 years now, since I moved to England. I always go there with my family to celebrate special occasions like birthdays, Mother's Day and Father's Day... My last visit was on June 16th, Father's Day. I went with my husband and two children. My reservation was for 12:00, precisely to catch the early afternoon and have a quick and calm meal. I arrived 10 minutes early and the restaurant had only one table occupied and everything was conspiring to make it a happy day with a good meal, but that was not what happened! We sat down at the table and they simply left us there without any attention! The waitress, a beautiful young woman with Caribbean features, came to take our drink orders only 20 minutes after seating us at the table. It took her another 10 minutes to bring the drinks and then she finally decided to take our food orders. 12:50 she finally brought the starters and my 3 year old baby was already getting a little irritated because he was hungry and the children's dish that I asked for before hadn't arrived for him yet. 1:10 pm and the restaurant was full and many people were already eating and 50 minutes after I had ordered the main course and nothing had arrived 13:20 my husband's main course, my daughter's main course and my baby's main course finally arrived And guess what? My main dish never arrived, which was the most expensive meat on the menu. 1 hour and 20 minutes waiting to have lunch on an important date for my husband and I simply had to watch the family eating and I was very hungry. 10 minutes later I called the waitress who simply didn't even come to check if all the orders were correct, how long would my dish take because all that delay was absurd! The answer I received was that she didn't remember me ordering anything, which wasn't true because she gave me another menu with different options where I even pointed out to her which option I wanted and I even asked if I could buy the sauce separately and she asked if it was to be sent with the bread or to be served with the meat. She turned her back and left and soon after a light-skinned lady with a short stature who was at the reception came and asked what happened. I was already frustrated because my family meal on Father's Day was being horrible. The lady said she was going to take my order and I said I just wanted the bill to pay and get out of there. She insisted and I ended up giving in because I was hungry and I repeated the order again. 13:55 my main course arrived and guess what? the order was wrong! FOR ME, THAT WAS THE ULTIMATE DISRESPECT TOWARDS THE CUSTOMER AND A LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM! They came to apologize again and at that moment I could only cry with rage because I had booked the restaurant we loved in advance to have a great time and it was destroyed due to the incompetence of the person in charge of the restaurant. We paid the bill and left very angry and outside the lady with light skin and short stature stopped me and repeated her apologies and offered us a courtesy to make up for the horrible experience I had. She said she would get in touch and give me the details. Guess what? Two months have passed and I have never heard anything from them and it was clearly just an attempt to mitigate the damage and make me rethink publishing my experience at the restaurant! September 26th will be our wedding anniversary and for 3 years in a row I celebrated at this restaurant and unfortunately this year we will have to break with tradition and choose another option. I don't want to risk ruining another special date. Unfortunately, I never want to go back! It was traumatic!

My sister and I stayed at the Burlington hotel we decided to eat in the restaurant. We both ordered the rump steak medium rare + fries +side salad. The waitress was prompt on taking the order because there was a coach party of 33 people staying in the hotel. The food arrived after 15 mins, before we had even picked our knife and fork up we were asked is everything ok? It was not until we tucked in that you could visually see the steak was burnt on the outside also the chips were over cooked. The waitress returned after 15 mins to take our plates away, she could see that my sister had left a quarter of it when she explained to the waitress that it was burnt and tasted bitter she replied that it is normal when the flames hit it on the side. We would have normally sent it back but we were on a time limit with going to see a show the main purpose of our visit in staying in the hotel. To say the steak along was £16 it included a slice of tomato and half of mushroom, extra was chips +salad was 4.50 per portion that we shared. The bill came to £76.36 this include a bottle wine and tap water. Also a service of 10% was added. When we went to pay the bill the waitress said has a good will gesture she would take £2 off the bill because you did not eat it all, This reduced the bill to £74.36. Waste of time & money, felling insulted is an understatement!! it should never have been put on a plate in the beginning it should have gone straight in the bin!! Unfortunately we are having go without our breakfast this morning because of the shocking experience!!!

Cute cafe with great toasties and coffee. Staff really friendly and helpful with a good range of food choices including baked potatoes, toasties and sandwiches. Coffee was a good sized cup with a mellow flavour. Good prices and a great view over the Mermaid Beach.
