The Cliffe Restaurant in Shepway

This was our first visit here even though we're locals living in Folkestone. A lovely place to eat, food is out of this world (trying the Muscles is a must!), the staff are 'polite & professional'. An overall pleasing experience. Down side. Parking is a problem (or expensive) and be prepared for a lot of glass windows ! I am Deaf & my Companion is hard of hearing. Seated at a table for two OPPOSITE these windows meant every waiter or waitress who approached our table was thrown into shadow which meant I found myself completely excluded as it was impossible to lipread them. Will we visit the venue again? Yes! If we do not sit 'opposite' any windows.

We were looked after splendidly by the Team for our Winter Warmer Sunday lunch today.Thanks so much. Nothing too much trouble. Very easy to deal with from start to finish. Our 2nd group meal. Food was excellent, great feedback. We will be back without a doubt. Even did a doggy bag for someone who couldn’t make it at the last minute.

Honestly this place was not good at all. The bartender was unfriendly and rude from the moment we walked in. The food tasted like it was straight out of a frozen bag from Aldi and it was very expensive, similar to London prices. Avoid

Stayed here for an overnight stay. Manager and staff are so friendly and helpful! They work extremely hard to make everyone feel welcome! Will certainly stay here again!

We went here for drinks after a show on 11 November and were staying in a neighbouring hotel. The place looks like it is falling down - the ceiling is in a right state, sticky tables, seats seem to be the cheapest ones they could find. The barman was downright rude, made it obvious they wanted to close and the drinks took forever to make. Told us they didn’t do cocktails. AVOID!!!

Breakfast was so dull, but dinner pub style was good. The Prawn Linguini generous and enjoyed. Service was excellent.

We come to this place regularly and our experience is always positive.Staff are always kind and the atmosphere is very friendly .Recently I tried the Decadent Chocolate Mousse with Raspberry sorbet and it was absolutely delicious.

We live in Folkestone and have liked this place since it opened. We've eaten here several times recently and it's still good - nice surroundings, good food and friendly staff. Great views and cocktails too!

Location is nice, can't fault it in the evening. Service is meh due to, you need to order at the bar. Food is ok, nothing special. Some pubs do better food, lets put it this way. Overall; 3/5

It's started to feel like quite a trendy place to hang out in Folkestone! Ok, maybe the decor is trying a bit too hard, but it's nice to feel sparkly sometimes isn't it?! Great range of cocktails, well-prepared by lots of helpful staff and some nice bar snacks choices.

Customer services in this bar/restaurent was the best I have experienced in a long while. We were looking for something to eat (one us had a dog so we were looking for dog friendly bars /restaurents ) early Sunday evening near the Leas in Folkestone, harder than you may think. After looking for a good while we walked in the Cliffe Hotel where the dog walker was staying and asked if it was possible to have something to eat? It wasn't possible in the bar/resturant area however the manager on duty the evening of 30th April thought quickly and laterally set us up in a corner of the big lobby area which was fine. Food and wine was bought to us from the restaurent which was across the hallway. We had a very enjoyable few hours and wanted to acknowledge a happy positive "yes we can" verses a "sorry we can't" restaurant manager. A big thank-you to the Sunday afternoon/night restaurent team at the hotel.

I visited the cliffe for the first time with my work colleagues for our Xmas night out. We had meals from the Xmas menu. The meals are on the small side but very nice. I enjoyed a cocktail which was yummy 😋 (tiramusu). The ambience was very nice and staff friendly,it was great being able to catch up and have a laugh. A clean lounge and I would definitely visit again. Feel it could be a bit cheaper though.

A large group of us (50 ) were booked for 3 course lunch on Sunday …..weather was great , food was good and plentiful and service was outstanding . We will certainly return .

Excellent lunchtime menu. The food was delicious! We ordered fish and chips, beef burger and a prawn cocktail sandwich. Each dish was cooked to perfection and the sandwich was lovely. The service was also excellent. We will definitely return!

We prefer to eat at lunchtime, rather than in the evening, and the Cliffe offers its Christmas meals at this time as too, which suits us well. That there were few other diners at the time was, frankly, their loss, because the service was exemplary, as was the food itself. Four of us ate exceptionally well and enjoyed a bottle of New Zealand Sauvingon Blanc in perfect surroundings. Not to be missed.

Went to this place a few weeks ago due to the reviews but was disappointed with the portions received. For the price paid for, the food definitely did not meet expectations. The tagliatelle was served with seafood, seafood which looked like they were from frozen and not fresh. The staff were nice but I wish food was of a better quality. I've been a fan of this place for years. But it has gone down hill. The cocktails, lovely. The service, fine. The situation and building, excellent! The food? Oily, so uninteresting, so dull. There is so much competition around them, they should take note.

Me and my wife went to take a afternoon tea and were approached by Philip the food and beverage manager who fist thing he mention was not a god afternoon but abruptly “ have you got a booking “ ! We reply we are her for afternoon tea. Philip then asked my wife if she had a face mask. My wife was wearing a scarf used as face mask. The scarf covered the nouse and the mouth as government advise. Philip persisted and kept on saying he will accept only a proper face mask otherwise they will get £ 10.000 fine. I explained that this type of face covering my wife was wearing it is totally acceptable by authority’s and Busines as we have used it for months . I also suggested for hem to spear a one use mask from the one he used for staff to wear. Philip was very rude at this point and decline to be helpfully in any way. I was astonished how he treated us like we were committing a crime! And made us feel very bead in front of he’s staff and other costumers. I will not recommend this place , management run the place in autocratic manner and staff sims to be putting up with it for now.

We hadn’t been here for about two years after a disastrous meal, but decided to book after seeing good reviews. We weren’t disappointed. Service good food excellent. Our son in law said it was the best restaurant meal he had ever had. Well done keep it up

This is a little gem - was looking for a place for brunch and found this mainly based on location near the coast with a view but were pleasantly surprised by the food quality, friendly staff and high quality decor. We'll come back here! Only thing that could be improved is that the app to order food is a little buggy but you can either just order from the table or persist with the app.

Second visit for us, as good as the first time only difference this time was for Sunday lunch 😋
