Came here before and enjoyed some lovey chicken nuggets but £12 for this chicken burger was diabolical , minimal chips? There’s more lettuce left over after feeding rabbits than what was inside this burger! Chicken if I can even call it that was very soggy and mushy, and thick batter very unpleasant. Would not return very disappointed 😠😠😠😠😠
£12 for 2 0.3bottles of Stell Artois and £6 for 2 sausages for the dog! It was a birthday celebration so my sister paid the prices but it’s very sad that such a great location is abused by the owners!
This place has really gone downhill, been out with friends for dinner and the food took 30 mins to be served out. The place was pretty much empty and there were like 10 of them behind the counter doing nothing productive, just standing around chatting amongst themselves.
There was no co ordination, communication or team work from the staff and we got the impression they they just don't care. When we finally got our food, most of it was cold and when we complained there was no apology or replacement, which is totally unacceptable given the 30 minute wait!! There were hardly any customers in so why would it a) take so long to get the food out bearing in mind it's supposed to be a fast food place and b) why serve out the food when it's not even piping hot!
They need to seriously sort it out and get their act together!!
This is the second time I have visited The George for a drink since it reopened. Both times have been disappointing. The first time, I visited with a group of friends and we ordered Mojitos. I firstly had to wait a significant amount of time to be acknowledged and served, and when I was, the member of the bar staff told me they were out of mint and advised us to go elsewhere as they were short of staff! The second visit, my partner and I ordered a glass of prosecco and a glass of wine. They were both on tap! The woman serving overfilled the Prosecco glass so the drink cascaded down the sides of the glass, and then handed it to me wet. Weatherspoons could do a better job and at a third of the price!
It was a very cold evening and we were surprised that the fire in the bar was not lit. However! Along came a member of staff with fire lighting equipment. The table in front of the fire was occupied with a party of people trying to enjoy a chat and drink. The member of staff proceeded to attempt to light the fire. He went away with no fire lit, returned to check on it and disappeared eventually with an unlit fire. This is all such a shame. It's a beautiful building with so much to offer after everything that has happened. But the staff need to pull their socks up to guarantee returning trade.
