Perfect pit stop before a long 3 hour drive home! The cafe is cute and the staff are friendly. The sandwiches were AMAZING. My partner declared his the best toastie he’s had and didn’t stop talking about it all day! The menu is pretty limited (a meat, a vegan and a vegetarian option) but the sandwiches were clearly freshly made with good ingredients and thought was put into the fillings. I had the vegetarian option - squash, truffle pesto and cheese and the flavours were SO good. As a previous review mentioned, perhaps a small side salad or coleslaw etc would be a nice addition on the plate. Would happily eat here again, just a shame it’s so far away!

We moved to Burley recently and have really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere at the WB. They make a really valuable contribution to the community and have some fun events (e.g. quizzes, discos, book clubs, etc). The staff and volunteers work really hard to make everyone feel welcome. Also offers the cheapest drinks in Burley!

we had fish and chips for 2 (1 cod, 1 plaice). Everything was tasty, but in particular the size, taste, texture and batter of the plaice were so good. Order and pay online, and collect. Such good value, half the price of London. A real gem.

First of all, I would like to thank the affection and attention of the employees. Because a good establishment starts with a good service. The breakfast is super delicious, complete with many varieties.

A little gem of a place, staff were so friendly and welcoming. Coffee was really nice with a toasted teacake that was huge. Good conversation with the staff plus the standard of Covid precautions are one of the best we have seen. Would definitely recommend popping in if you are in the area.

This is purely a review of the restaurant, very similar to the one I left on Trip Advisor, but with a 24 hours later update: After a challenging weekend in the New Forest, (not the Forest’s fault) we decided to try and salvage something by having a posh afternoon tea at Burley Manor before returning home. We rang and booked the day before as wifey is both vegetarian and GF, and we wanted to give them a fighting chance. I wish we hadn’t bothered. Let’s start with the parking - there isn’t any if your vehicle is bigger than a small family gadabout. We were in our motorhome, and ended up parking in a field that was open for a separate event. Burley Manor assured us this was fine, and that neither gate (big or small) would be locked. You guessed it - wrong , but we squeezed out thanks to wifey’s skilful driving and steely nerve. Then let’s talk about the perfectly coiffed member of staff who seated us, took our drinks order, sent somebody else over with them, then ignored us for nigh on 45 mins. Finally our afternoon tea arrived and was placed by a disdainful waiter, who when he was confused about who’s was who’s and I pointed out the ramifications of getting it wrong snapped, ‘well I didn’t take the order, did I?’ The food itself was fine, just fine, not excellent or amazing, and certainly not worth £61! When we challenged our disdainful waiter on the horrific wait, he was more than happy to throw his colleagues under the bus, saying that his previous establishment had been much more professional! His excuse was that they had had been overbooked for lunch and had several afternoon tea bookings. They had our phone number, if they couldn’t handle the number of guests, they shouldn’t have taken the booking, or they should have cancelled us. To be honest, the nice man who had accidentally locked us in the field, on his Penny farthing and talked about deer and pigs, but reassured us we would easily get Buzzy the motorhome out was the highlight of the whole debacle, and he didn’t work for Burley Manor! 24 hours later - reader - Wifey got glutened - she is so poorly today! Luckily she is only intolerant, not allergic and should recover within 24 hours. If you are actually allergic, coeliac etc, avoid this place like the plague.

We knew we would like this pub as soon as we walked in. The barman gave us such a welcome, told us where we could sit, what beer to try. Another lady on duty was also lovely, as well as the two ladies who served us breakfast. The 2nd lady knew I would have any yoghurt but strawberry and a small orange juice. Your staff are truly wonderful. Our room was at the front of the hotel, overlooking the pub garden and down into Burley itself. The room with no number, we wondered why, was it something spooky with all the witchcraft connections in the village? No, we did find out why, but I'm not telling! Our meals were really good - what a plate full. We recommend the pie of the day, sausages, and lasagne. Lovely pub grub. All served with a smile by Josh. The pub runs table service, which is a real treat and not something we've come across since Covid. Car park is always busy, because the pub is too. Lunches & dinners every day of the week and very popular. Alas no electric charging points for our car. Burley is ideally situated to visit lots of areas of interest, right in the National Park, but not far from the coast. Horses & cattle roam freely, plenty of horse dollops. Only a short walk & you're in open pasture. You can catch the open top tourist bus from Burley, and there are lots of little shops to browse round. We had a really lovely stay, and will be recommending this place to our family and friends.
