I thoroughly enjoy my time in The Queens Head, the pub was nice and warm with a really cozy feeling to it. The food was very delicious and the prices were very reasonable and it came out quite quickly. The staff were all very nice and friendly too!

Having viewed the menu of various eateries in Burley before we booked, we chose The Queens Head for the promising vegetarian options. And we were not disappointed. We both had the garden plot medley for starter and were so impressed by its presentation, flavours and textures. We also both chose the mushroom and ale pie with mash for main. The pastry of the pie was really good, everything was piping hot and seasoned well. On top of the good quality food, Jamie the manager was very warm, friendly and attentive and his enthusiasm and professionalism will see this pub do really well as more than just an average locals pub in the heart of Burley.

When we visited the pub yesterday, it was busy but Jamie, the new manager, made us feel very welcome. The food was well presented and tasty and, despite the number of people he was serving, Jamie made time to check that we were happy with everything and took a genuine interest in us. We would definitely recommend this pub as a dog friendly, welcoming experience.

We’ve been to the Queen’s Head many times before on previous visits to the New Forest, and we’ve always liked it. We visited again yesterday for the first time in a few years and found it under new management. The new owner, Jamie, made time to welcome us and to have a chat. He even found a few moments to play with our dog, who was being a bit of a nuisance! Our food was really good, and the prices are reasonable too. I look forward to going back again in the future. Thanks Jamie and the team for making us feel so welcome. Chees, Brad.

This used to be our go to stop for food and drinks when in Burley. We made an impromptu stop this time, as just wanted some quick snacks and drinks for the kids. The staff acted as if we were bothering them, which appears to be a trend having read other recent reviews. However, I do sympathise when they seem to have a manager shouting and hollering at them from behind the bar. It must make the day quite stressful. When the attitude was questioned we had an apology with an excuse that it was busy, and they didnt have enough staff. There were about a dozen other patrons in the place and I saw 3 more staff behind the bar. I'm guessing there was also a chef, plus the manager, so not sure how this constitutes busy. It was lunch time, and hardly any options on the menu were available, so this obviously isn't being managed well either. We ordered food and drinks. The food came out and was eaten before we even had sight of a single drink. The food was alright, although some things stated on the menu were swapped out without even mentioning it, so guessing they were suffering with stock issues even on what they could serve. The kids were complaining about the drinks. 3 requests for the drinks and a trip to the bar to find them and still no sight, and just the same excuse of how busy they were. Again, 3 bar staff to do drinks and seemingly nobody at the bar ordering anything else... So not sure why the delay. Eventually when we gave up and felt we wouldn't be getting drinks I went to the bar to pay and as if by magic the drinks were all just being poured. Bear in mind we had already ordered food, received food and eaten food. So this must have been 30+ minutes after ordering the drinks. The staff looked shocked when I said I don't want them and would only settle the food bill and leave. Not sure what's going on under this new ownership / management, but it's not working. In contrast we tried another restaurant / bar close by this weekend and it was a lovely experience. Polite staff. Drinks out before food. Nothing could have been a problem for them. Will be frequenting other places in this area in future until the Queen's Head can somehow return to its former glory and service levels. But it has a long way to go.

The Green King, a fine dining establishment, transcendent of trends with timeless elegance. The Head Honcho, Ellie, proceeded to deliver our food when all of a sudden a tiger broke through the window and attacked, she proceeded to fight off the tiger knocking out several teeth and removing it from the premises, but then, thunder struck the building and she proceeded to absorb and displace the lightning saving our food in the process, but then, Jeremy Clarkson proceeded to crash his tractor into the pub, it was a joyous evening, one to never forget.

We came across the Queens Head and thought we’d try it as we’re on holiday and it looks lovely from the outside. On top of that it’s dog friendly so was exactly what we were looking for. Upon arrival we were not welcomed at all by the girl on the bar. She was sat on her laptop and made it seem like a huge effort to get up to serve us. We said hello and in return she stared blankly back at us with no hello or at least a smile. We then asked for some drinks (4 adults) and she ID one of us. Being 27 he didn’t have any ID on him so she refused the sale. I’ve worked in hospitality since I was 15 so I know how important it is to ID people, however, if your going to ID someone, do not patronise them, do not be rude and don’t become short with everyone else. That being that we left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. I am utterly shocked that she thought it was acceptable to speak to customers like that. Working front of house, you’d expect her to try a bit harder.

Terrible experience with a member of staff, she was very dismissive of us two older ladies (although we were paying customers) & told us we could sit at the table we had sat at but we'd have to move if she got a booking. Couldn't make out why she couldn't have taken my name & booked the table for us. Gave menus to the other two tables but not us until I went to the bar to ask for it. Very upsetting experience & I wouldn't rush to go back. Plenty of other pubs in the New Forest with more pleasant staff.

Today I'm just chilling here with a cold drink watching the cars go through Burley. It's very relaxing and a great place to be. If you're passing through Burley or are staying in a motorhome, then you have overnight parking right next to the pub for only £15 a night! So you can treat yourself to a meal here and then kip right next door. Don't miss out, a visit here is a must!

Had a great meal here and drinks on with a group of 6 of us. Very well looked after and no issues to speak of at all, standard pub grub was decent. We came back the second night with a group of about 25 of us (work trip) all in a very lively mood and wanting to have a few beers. This was clearly not the standard Thursday evening for this bar, but the manager and his team were great and kept the drinks come, and stayed open as late as they were legally able to as we was having such a great time. Staff are polite and inviting. The starters were tasty and good value. They advertise freshly prepared food. I don't think so. Our main course came to the table far to quickly. The chicken was dry and overcooked and the steak and ale pie was dry and the meat gristly. A couple next to us both ordered a mixed grill. It only took 5 mins for this to arrive, they must be able to time travel if that was freshly prepared.

Short staffed as told by staff on the bar so was a 30 minute wait for for food. Beer was good gasses balanced and glasses clean but bar and fridge lights were off in the middle of lunch service. Signature burger was described on menu as hand pressed beef burger topped with slow roasted beef rib braised in Merlot and beef dripping gravy, marmite mayonnaise and barbers of Somerset cheddar. What I got was old salad garnish, left over beef topside from Sunday instead of braised soft short rib, mayonnaise without the marmite and bland slice cheese. I had the squid starter which was chewy and over cooked and was meant to come with charred lemon but came with an old dry lemon instead.

Would recommend. Had a really good evening meal and dessert using 'The Supper Club' menu. All the food was prepared and presented very well. I ordered the mushroom and ale pie, and it was cooked perfectly. (I had this at a different venue about a year ago, and it was not done well). For dessert, I chose the bakewell tart. Good balance of tart and sweet with the raspberry coulis and ice cream. ALL of the staff were fantastic. We felt well tended to but not disturbed while enjoying our meals. The music was a good volume, and the restaurant area was clean and tidy. Interim manager Mackenzie was very helpful and happy to give advice about a future large family booking. Great pub. The robot on the phone was efficient if scary but it worked well. Staff were very welcoming. However, we are too old to be called 'mate' by a teenager. The food was cooked extremely well and the chef should be congratulated for doing such a good job with terrible ingredients. The buyer I suspect is vegan or at least vegetarian because they can never have eaten the rump steak. Tasty but very tough. There is no need for this, the butcher is not doing their job right. If Wetherspoons can serve great tasting tender steak so should a good pub chain like Chef & Brewer. The Mushroom side dish was chopped up instead of being whole and was covered in sauce which I expected to be served seperatley. The starter of squid was very good. The plates were all hot. I would go back.

Popped in just after midday Monday, they’d just opened for lunch. Ordered mushroom pie. They said they didn’t have any new potatoes so it would be fries. I wondered then if they perhaps didn’t have much fresh veg as it was Monday. My meal appeared within about 3 minutes, something only achieved by a microwave. The pie was falling into itself as the pastry was so soft, and I needn’t have worried about fresh veg because they served peas & carrots which were very clearly left over from the day before and heated up. I don’t believe the fries could have been fried that quickly so assume they were also microwaved. Absolutely shocking, awful food, possibly the worst I’ve ever had and £15 for the privilege.

Tried it for lunch but unfortunately it wasn't great, the crispy calamari wasn't crispy, some what soggy and non inspiring. The ciabatta sandwich was dry, very plain and boring. I actually had to use the mayo from the soggy calamari to actually make it not dry. The service was ok, but it seemed like they were understaffed, and it was all very frantic. We nearly walked out because it took a decent amount of time to be offered a drink. You can't eat outside either, which I don't understand at all. In my eyes the pub is missing out on a huge selling point, especially now we have some hot days here and there. For what you pay the standard of food is not great and even before we got our food we both looked eachother with regards to the frantic service and said "are you thinking what I'm thinking" and both said after that "this is not going to be a good experience" so much potential but unfortunately missing the mark by a long shot.

Basically don't bother if you want food. To start with it just didn't seem like they wanted us there but eventually cleared a table for my family. Took ages for them to take an order for drinks where they changed their tune and seemed a bit more friendly. Drinks ordered they said they would be back for food. Another age went by when eventually the guy came back and we asked for a kids menu... He said he'd get one, then he disappeared for another 15mins before reappearing to serve others. They were then turning other people away for food when there were loads of tables. This was bang on lunch time during half term. Did the chief have a meltdown and decide no more 🤷. Nevertheless we paid for he drinks and left. Got some pasties down the road.

There is a good, tempting menu and for this confirmed carnivore (but trying to keep off the beef) the steak & ale pie looked tempting and the slow cooked beef cheek special almost got me, but I stayed with my original choice of the shortcrust mushroom pie. The dinners came up, the fish and chips especially enjoyed and my mushroom pie was terrific, although the mash was a bit too stodgy for my liking. One portion of beef cheek disappeared, the other had some chewy bits in it unfortunately and the gravy was a bit too thick. The puddings were all terrific apart from the mini pud and a drink option, the Mini pud being an inch square of sponge with squirty cream atop. Clearly the team were a bit embarrassed by this as a second free portion appeared, but allegedly this was a mini trifle. Overall a nice meal, although the team giving us space to talk went on too long and there was quite a wait for plates to be cleared and orders taken. Worth a visit though as some interesting options on the menu.

The staff were trying their hardest but were short-staffed on a bank holiday weekend which felt like a stitch up from management. This meant we were waiting for about an hour before we ordered food which took just over half an hour to arrive. The food was okay, not amazing but okay, not sure it warrants such a high price but I get it’s a popular area so perhaps a bit of a tourist trap. Amazing garden and plenty of (paid) parking (machine doesn’t take card so we chanced it and didn’t get a ticket after 4 hours).

Absolutely lovely meals at reasonable prices for a tourist spot. Dogs very welcome. Highly recommended.

this is terrible. All the glasses that we had were dirty and we had to swap multiple drinks due to them not having any flavour or alcohol.

We love going to Hythe Kevab Centre for takeaways. The staff are always very friendly and the food is delicious!

Food was good and service excellent, the only thing that spoilt our visit was the children running around the bar area, playing in the toilets and not being supervised by their parents. Not what you would expect from a wine bar.
