Very smart restaurant in a small hotel in Worplesdon. We had pre dinner drinks served in a very smart lounge. Good selection of drinks and a comprehensive wine list. Our meal was in the restaurant overlooking the lovely garden. Most of our food was excellent: tasty, interesting and well presented. Exceptions were the Steak Tartine, which was basic and rather dry and the Banoffee desert which wasn’t very ‘banana’ and was too large. Everything seemed to be prepared in house and to order where required. There were complimentary amuse bouch and petit fours. Service for the ten tables (only 4 groups) was very professionally performed by two polite and friendly young ladies. I would have preferred that the English Sparkling Wine offering had been from one of the local vineyards rather than the generic Nyetimber. Very

This spot is incredible for an intimate dinning experience. To start with, the service from the door is incredible. Polite, confident & well organised staff who are just the right level of attentive which creates an incredible atmosphere. From the get go the experience was amazing! The food was absolutely fantastic. The personal touches from both chefs created such a close connection to the food and your experience. The fact that the head chef will greet you during your main and explain each and every detail to what you have ordered & how it was cooked is phenomenal. The expert detail combined with the exquisite taste creates a perfect dining experience. I honestly cannot express how incredible the food and experience was. 10/10 all round & 100% would recommend to anyone who is looking for incredible dinning experience.

Dogs allowed in which is fine but there was dog hairs all over our table and it was sticky. Bit off putting. No baps for bacon or sausage. Asked for sliced bread instead, told no as they wouldn’t have enough bread if other customers wanted it !!! They then changed their minds and said we could have bacon / sausage sandwich. Coffee was nice and general surroundings very pleasant. Nice area to sit outside in the warmer weather. Staff friendly although we didn’t like being asked why we were not going to give them a tip. Don’t usually tip in cafes and was left feeling a bit uncomfortable !

We called in for supper on our way to where we were staying for the night. The pub was small and quiet, but friendly. The one staff member on duty was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. We only had burgers but they were well cooked and fresh and the chips were amazing!

Disgustingly dirty inside and out, place feels like a health hazard. Ash trays not cleaned in weeks, cigarette buds everywhere. Outside terrace area looked abandoned. Seats & tables so dirty and sticky cant even sit. Place was a ghost town during a sunny weekend day, so I guess most people have caught on NOT to go here under any circumstance. Beerlines not cleaned in I dunno how long, my beer was flat and tasted HORRIBLE.

I read the review of the golf course below from 2017 but nonetheless looked forward to my visit. I have too say that whoever designed the golf course did a great job and the layout is impressive. There were also a few greenkeepers out on the course keeping the bunkers raked etc. Overall though the condition of the course was disappointing with a capital D. The tees and fairways were scruffy and the first cut of rough poorly kept. The greens however were decent with few pitch marks thereon. The trouble with Merrist Wood is that it lies in the heart of rich golf territory but has clearly made a conscious effort not to compete with the better courses nearby and alas it shows. In the clubhouse the lights didn't work in the toilets and still didn't work four and a half hours later with calls into question the quality of the facilities management. Food and drink was competitively priced and of acceptable quality. Having played over 300 courses in the UK the big question is would I return? Despite the great layout the answer is very unlikely. Very nearly rated poor.
