Our new favorite place to go out! The host/owner was super friendly and made us —and our dog— feel right at home (even offering a dog bed and extra chicken! Sorry I didn't catch your name before leaving). Thank you for being a dog friendly pub. The food was incredibly good and affordable. I absolutely loved my special dish, the red mullet, which was a refreshing change from typical pub food. We’ll definitely be back and can't wait to see them from going from strength to strength! The only small detail we noticed was the absence of salt and pepper on the table - maybe do this as you bring the plates?, and we would have loved just a touch more seasoning in the dishes. But we know you’re still new and fine-tuning these little details! Great to also see the outside taking shape and we can't wait to see what your plans are for next spring/summer!!

Everything was amazing. Very dog friendly pub, our dog got a ramekin of chicken while we had a drink at the bar and then a bowl of roast dinner while we had ours! Service was exemplary, our daughter made friends with our waitress Abi who attended to our every need. Food and drink was lovely, and there was a pianist playing jazz music too. 10/10 we will definitely be going back

I was looking for a place to meet other family members half-way between where we lived, and the Jolly Farmer came up in the search. We were given an appointment on Sunday at 12:00 for lunch. We were lucky because Sunday Lunch is a busy time for them. The choice was excellent. We were welcomed by friendly staff, the menu had an excellent selection, the food and deserts were really good. My wife is gluten intolerant and there was enough of a selection for her to be accommodated. They also have vegetarian options. Service was good and prices were reasonable. We ate inside where the ambience was old style wonderful and cosy, however they also have outside areas for dining. The six of us were all suitably impressed. Even though they were busy, staff was responsive. The Jolly Farmer is under new management, and everything has been revamped. I strongly recommend this venue as an excellent eating establishment.

The Jolly Farmer Pub Well worth a visit a short drive out of Guilford town. Here's what to expect. Aesthetic: This a small quaint pub with traditional oak beams with a rustic charm and touch of urban sophistication. You'll be assured of a warm welcome here, dog friendly with plenty of bowls to keep your pooch happy. Only wished we had a dog to take. Food: If you're looking for good pub food then this is your place. We opted for a burger but this wasn't any old burger this was The Jolly Farmer burger. It was unbelievably scrumptious. I added a slice of bacon to mine from the extras. Good quality ingredients cooked fresh, which the butcher had just delivered. The fries had their skins and only what I could describe as having a touch of sea salt crystals on them. I have never tasted such amazing fries before. Now I'm not going to compare the quality to pringles but you know that urge that once you start you can't stop, well that's the same with these fries, but better. We had oinion rings to share that was perfectly executed. There was 3 of us at this meal usually all with different tastes but on this occasion we all chose the same meal and all came to the same 5* opinion. Complements to the chef/s! Unfortunately we didn't have room for desert maybe next time. Upon leaving we noticed a large BBQ area and I've heard their Sunday roast is second to none. We'll just have to visit again soon from the Midlands.

I recently visited The Jolly Farmer in Guildford for a pint, and it was an outstanding experience! From the moment I stepped in, I was welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The pub has a charming rustic feel, with cozy seating and a friendly vibe that makes you feel instantly at ease. The beer selection is fantastic, with a great variety of local and international brews. I chose a refreshing craft beer, which was served perfectly chilled and tasted amazing. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, offering excellent recommendations and ensuring top-notch service throughout my visit. One of the highlights was the pub’s beautiful outdoor garden area. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a drink, especially on a sunny day. The locals were also very welcoming, adding to the overall pleasant experience. In summary, The Jolly Farmer is a wonderful spot in Guildford for a pint. Whether you’re looking for a quiet drink or a lively evening with friends, this pub has it all. Highly recommended!

Nice, quiet table with ambience mood lighting and pretty outdoor seating with perfect shelter from the storm under the grapevines and fairy lights. Inside the food was brilliant, we had whitebait and mackerel as starters w/ thyme butter & artisan bread which tasted as good as it sounds. The roast was tender and delicious even at 19:45pm! Very sadly we found the hand pumped ale to be very poor. No staff on hand understood anything about the subject although very pleasant. Musty beer from two different pumps is simply poor and then to be told the beer was fine because it was dated September was a bit embarrassing. Oh well this is yet another pub that doesn't make it a priority to serve ale as it should. The landlord or manager needs to go and try a pint at perhaps the Crown in Horsell in maybe The Horse and Groom in Chobham. No comparison between what is being served here and these great little wet pubs run by people who understand their craft. Wouldn't be back here in a hurry.

A lovely family lunch with nestled in beautiful countryside; great for walks with kids, dogs or both. I have previously not been particularly keen on the food offering of the Jolly Farmer, but it has been completely revamped. The menu offers classic pub staples such as fish and chips and a well designed burger, as well as new gastro-additions such as the Cumberland sausages with cabbage and mash. There are new starters, and a refreshing offering of snacks. The food is now able to challenge the nearby Bird in Hand and Drumming Snipe and has put this pub very much back on the map for me. The staff were attentive and friendly. Our young kids were taken in stride and were made to feel equally welcome. The garden is lovely and is a great place for a meal or a drink after a walk on the common. The adjacent parking makes this a natural start/end for excursions. I found the dappled shade under the grape vines to be delightful. The indoor facilities are cozy and sympathetic to the age of the building. The bar is well-stocked and offers local beers as well as the usual brands. If you (like me) have previously reserved the Jolly Farmer for only the occasional drink, then now is an excellent opportunity to give it another try and discover a much improved local favourite!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Jolly Farmer in Worplesdon (between Guildford and Woking), and I can't sing its praises enough! If you're looking for a welcoming, dog-friendly spot with delicious food, generous portions, and top-notch service, this is the place to be! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a friendly atmosphere. The staff made us feel right at home, and they were especially accommodating to our doggy, offering treats and a water bowl right away. It's clear they genuinely love dogs and understand how to make the dogs and their owners feel welcome. Now, let's talk about the food – simply outstanding! The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, each more tempting than the last. I opted for the Sunday roast with pork belly, which arrived as a massive portion with perfectly cooked vegetables and crispy roast potatoes. Their homemade gravy was the best I’ve ever had! My partner chose Sunday roast with beef, my mom had fish and chips, and my son had spareribs which were all equally impressive. The portions were so generous we had to take some home! The pub itself is charming and cozy, with plenty of seating both inside and out. The outdoor area is particularly lovely, with ample space for dogs to relax and socialize. What truly sets this pub apart is the service. The landladies went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. They were attentive without being intrusive, always ready with a recommendation or a quick chat. It's rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it made our visit very enjoyable. It surely is a gem of a place that combines fantastic food, excellent service, and a dog-friendly environment in the best possible way. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make sure to stop by. You won't be disappointed!

Dog friendly and there are Forest walk trails around the pub. Food: I had a vegetarian wellington with the usual Sunday roast trimmings (it was a Sunday). It was very nice. My husband had a curried lamb pie. It was so delicious! It wasn't an Indian curry. It was so flavoursome. Apparently it was a Burmese-English fusion meal. (It was on the specials menu but they had a vegetarian curry on the normal menu, I m sure that one is good too.) Staff were friendly and orders didn't take long.

It is so sad when new management have to wear the old reviews. This is a prime example. A delightful pub, with a very friendly crew, talented chef and comfortable seating options. I had the roast beef. I didn't want to take a whole star off, it is a minor thing. Great quality ingredients, perfectly cooked, except the Yorkshire pudding. This was dry and I prefer mine a little flabby. This is the only downmarking in an otherwise truly surprising pub meal. Beer selection is decent with well kept lines. It would be nice to carry a local guest ale as well. Something to draw people to visit this slightly more remote location. Shiv is an excellent host, making sure he gets around the pub and greets everybody. The boy certainly knows how to play the game and this is all to the benefit of the punters.

The Jolly Farmer is a nice family pub with a charming outdoor seating area that perfectly complemented the good weather during our visit. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. The fish and the triple-fried chips were quite good, with the chips being the star of the show at an 8.5 out of ten. However, the chicken escalope with fried egg was disappointing. The chicken was bland and dry, and the tiny accompanying salad was just average. It wasn't great value for the price, and there were no redeeming qualities. The kids' burger was incredibly small, shame I forgot to take photos this time. It seems more suited for toddlers than older children. Overall, the food was overpriced for the quality. For that reason, they get 3 stars for food instead of 4. The service, however, was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive. Oh, and the kids did enjoy the sticky toffee pudding!

I've lived 4 miles from this place for 35 years and never knew it existed until I met Shiv in a take-away last week. So this evening, a Sunday, my partner and I decided to visit it We were amazed that we didn't know such a brilliant establishment even existed. Arrived, shown to a quiet table and ...Shiv turned up to serve us! We had Cumberland sausages and mash and it was great. I had London Pride which was beautifully kept. We had some coffee tp finish. The only disappointment was, the mille fieulle had all been consumed by earlier eaters. Didn't they know my partner has been searching for this for two weeks as my birthday surprise? Duh. Ok, bottom line. The pub is great. The service (by Shiv) was excellent. The food was good and tasty. It didn't break the bank. The noise levels were very low. The garden looks inviting (but you all know what June '24 has been like so we stayed inside) and bears visiting on a better weather day. Would we go again? We will. My son is visiting from Bangkok with my granddaughter so instead of cooking..well...to put it another way, we've already planned to go back. But... please don't tell anyone about this superb little gem or everyone will want to go there and then I'll have trouble booking a table. (Joking..tell your friends and family.. you won't regret it.)

Arrived for lunch and waited over an hour for our food. Everything was cold and everyone was disappointed in their meal. I had the steak chiabatta and I had 2 tiny bits of steak in there (mostly fat) with the tiniest bit of rocket. The bread wasn't even toasted and they disnt have any coke or lemonade? Also told us they only had 4 burgers left. The chips would've been nice but they were cold. My friend is vegan and was told the soup was vegan but it didn't seem very promising or convincing as the waitor wasn't very sure, also her bread was stale.. very disappointed...

Awful. Food was terrible (and took ages), most of the staff are clueless (inattentive and no customer service skills) pub was cold and we were told the heating wasn't working. Wasn't cheap either! Won't ever go back and would highly recommend that you avoid it!

My son took both my wife and myself for lunch , on arrival of our food , it was cold . Food was taken away and we were told fresh would be prepared, within minutes our plates arrived back , food was barely warm . When speaking to the manager , he stated they had a gas leak and gas was capped off , all cooking was done on a hot plate . No salt and pepper was offered. Very basic , would not recommend at all . Cannot see how meals can be cooked on the hot plate . Will be taking this further. But expect nothing to come out of it ,

Under new management. Sadly now disappointing! Had an impromptu dinner here after a walk and it didn't disappoint. Its dog friendly , The portion sizes were just right , very reasonably priced and friendly staff. The undercover area does need some background music to increase the atmosphere but otherwise it was really lovely. Beer garden is also lovely and big

Such a lovely pub! We went for a nice morning walk on Whitmore Common, parked in the car park next to the pub, then back in time for Sunday lunch at the pub. The food was really nice and the service was fantastic! So friendly! Lovely atmosphere with seating in well decorated rooms. It also has a super garden, so we’ll definitely be back when the weather gets a bit better!

Just had the worst sandwich ever. Really disappointed as we have had lovely food in the past but stale thin white bread is not acceptable when you’re charging £11! Lost our custom.

Great little pub, lovely friendly landlord and staff who welcomed us with the dog. Stayed in car park over night with lovely walk in morning. Worth trying for Sunday lunch as we went very early Friday evening. Campervan friendly without services. Idealy only room for a couple of vans due to it being a public Car park and lots of people walking dogs early morning. 👍👍

It's a nice pub with a decent garden, friendly staff etc but the food is just awful. We had a couple of sandwiches which came on the thinnest wholemeal sliced bread known to man. "Chips" which were so thin I would call them warm crisps. Maybe for a fiver, but at £11 for a sandwich and chips it's a rip off. You're better off at Greggs at the garage round the corner. I feel like maybe it's had a change of ownership as it used to be better.

Had much better experiences at this pub over the years. This was disappointing. Pub wasn't busy at all yet had to ask multiple times for drinks and sauces, food was average- roast beef a little tough, roast potatoes very hard, and nut roast tasted 'weird'. Nobody came to ask how the food was, and we didn't want to bother them again. Had been looking forward to a Sunday roast all week but am a bit deflated now

15/7/24 Landlord seems to think sheltering from the rain under the empty pub’s outdoor seating area damages profits so much he provides you with a lecture before kicking you out in the rain. Ok pub that I’ve drank at before, a shame the landlord is so sensitive about his extremely sticky outdoor tables. 8/11/24 Thank you for your response. A structure with a tinned roof must have magically appeared and disappeared in the 2 minutes I was sat in your pub garden in that case. It seems to have also magically appeared in one of the videos you’ve used to promote your pub on this page. Maybe check outside now, if you’re lucky you might see it. I really don’t appreciate being called a liar, especially by one.

Lovely sunday lunch at the Stag on the River. We had the vegan roast and also the pork roast which were both very nice, albeit a little overpriced for what you get. Parking is also limited so get there early or park round the corner over the Eashing bridge. The staff were friendly and helpful and we requested extra spuds and yorkies which we were provided complimentary with the meal. Would definitely come back for dinner another day. Thank you.

Popped in for the football. Not a great pub, but lots of screens. Nothing much to say except that Chelsea should have won.

Four of us visited Shah's Secreto this evening and had a delicious meal. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone as the food is excellent and the staff very friendly and efficient.
