I recently visited The Jolly Farmer in Guildford for a pint, and it was an outstanding experience! From the moment I stepped in, I was welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The pub has a charming rustic feel, with cozy seating and a friendly vibe that makes you feel instantly at ease. The beer selection is fantastic, with a great variety of local and international brews. I chose a refreshing craft beer, which was served perfectly chilled and tasted amazing. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, offering excellent recommendations and ensuring top-notch service throughout my visit. One of the highlights was the pub’s beautiful outdoor garden area. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a drink, especially on a sunny day. The locals were also very welcoming, adding to the overall pleasant experience. In summary, The Jolly Farmer is a wonderful spot in Guildford for a pint. Whether you’re looking for a quiet drink or a lively evening with friends, this pub has it all. Highly recommended!

This is a lovely place to relax and enjoy some really tasty food. I had the fish and chips which was perfectly cooked and my partner had the steak. He said it was delicious although a little small for the price. The chips were ample though so we left feeling full although I doubt he will order the steak again. There’s a lot to choose from on the menu so we will definitely return. Thank you

Came for a late night walk in roast dinner, Staff were friendly and accommodating. Nice, quiet table with ambience mood lighting and pretty outdoor seating with perfect shelter from the storm under the grapevines and fairy lights. Inside the food was brilliant, we had whitebait and mackerel as starters w/ thyme butter & artisan bread which tasted as good as it sounds. The roast was tender and delicious even at 19:45pm! (Food stops serving at 20:00). If you’re looking for a perfect pub this is the place. We will definitely be coming back again! Ample parking to the side of the pub and doggy friendly.

Staff were very nice, the pub is lovely, but all 3 of our group had poor food, steaks that were extremely poor quality and mostly fat and all of our mains and desserts were quite small portions. We left very disappointed. Having said that; two of the group have been back since and both had burgers which they had nothing but good things to say about, so maybe it was just an off-day.

Get this man a promotion! Shiv couldn't of been anymore friendly, we've been here before and it was a very welcoming place but wow this has defintely put my expectation way higher! Fully just made the time worth it. First time we came we got this most amazing steak sandwich ever and when we came in this time it was sadly not on the menu, but shiv and the chef go out of there way to make it just for me and my girlfriend which they could've easily said no to. The sandwich was still as amazing as the first time😋 We seriously can't fault anything and will defintely be coming back more often! Shiv 10/10 waiter Chef 10/10 Everyone else also a 10/10 Overall well worth it!

Very sadly we found the hand pumped ale to be very poor. No staff on hand understood anything about the subject although very pleasant. Musty beer from two different pumps is simply poor and then to be told the beer was fine because it was dated September was a bit embarrassing. Oh well this is yet another pub that doesn't make it a priority to serve ale as it should. The landlord or manager needs to go and try a pint at perhaps the Crown in Horsell in maybe The Horse and Groom in Chobham. No comparison between what is being served here and these great little wet pubs run by people who understand their craft. Wouldn't be back here in a hurry.

A lovely family lunch with nestled in beautiful countryside; great for walks with kids, dogs or both. I have previously not been particularly keen on the food offering of the Jolly Farmer, but it has been completely revamped. The menu offers classic pub staples such as fish and chips and a well designed burger, as well as new gastro-additions such as the Cumberland sausages with cabbage and mash. There are new starters, and a refreshing offering of snacks. The food is now able to challenge the nearby Bird in Hand and Drumming Snipe and has put this pub very much back on the map for me. The staff were attentive and friendly. Our young kids were taken in stride and were made to feel equally welcome. The garden is lovely and is a great place for a meal or a drink after a walk on the common. The adjacent parking makes this a natural start/end for excursions. I found the dappled shade under the grape vines to be delightful. The indoor facilities are cozy and sympathetic to the age of the building. The bar is well-stocked and offers local beers as well as the usual brands. If you (like me) have previously reserved the Jolly Farmer for only the occasional drink, then now is an excellent opportunity to give it another try and discover a much improved local favourite!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Jolly Farmer in Worplesdon (between Guildford and Woking), and I can't sing its praises enough! If you're looking for a welcoming, dog-friendly spot with delicious food, generous portions, and top-notch service, this is the place to be! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a friendly atmosphere. The staff made us feel right at home, and they were especially accommodating to our doggy, offering treats and a water bowl right away. It's clear they genuinely love dogs and understand how to make the dogs and their owners feel welcome. Now, let's talk about the food – simply outstanding! The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, each more tempting than the last. I opted for the Sunday roast with pork belly, which arrived as a massive portion with perfectly cooked vegetables and crispy roast potatoes. Their homemade gravy was the best I’ve ever had! My partner chose Sunday roast with beef, my mom had fish and chips, and my son had spareribs which were all equally impressive. The portions were so generous we had to take some home! The pub itself is charming and cozy, with plenty of seating both inside and out. The outdoor area is particularly lovely, with ample space for dogs to relax and socialize. What truly sets this pub apart is the service. The landladies went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. They were attentive without being intrusive, always ready with a recommendation or a quick chat. It's rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it made our visit very enjoyable. It surely is a gem of a place that combines fantastic food, excellent service, and a dog-friendly environment in the best possible way. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make sure to stop by. You won't be disappointed!

Quiet pub with lovely beer garden under grapevines (got a glass roof over the grapes to keep you dry even on a rainy day and they have some blankets for you to keep warm too). Dog friendly and there are Forest walk trails around the pub. Food: I had a vegetarian wellington with the usual Sunday roast trimmings (it was a Sunday). It was very nice. My husband had a curried lamb pie. It was so delicious! It wasn't an Indian curry. It was so flavoursome. Apparently it was a Burmese-English fusion meal. (It was on the specials menu but they had a vegetarian curry on the normal menu, I m sure that one is good too.) Staff were friendly and orders didn't take long.

We went early on a weekday to grab a quick bite to eat. We had a lovely outside table on a sunny day so I didn’t ho inside, but the garden is relaxed and spacious. The menu was a little limited (would be good if there were interesting salad options maybe) and I found the veggie coconut curry bland - but the portions were generous and my friend enjoyed the mushroom risotto. We were served by charming Shiv, who was not only very friendly, but attentive and competent too. Overall, a pleasant experience so I’d give the place another try.

It is so sad when new management have to wear the old reviews. This is a prime example. A delightful pub, with a very friendly crew, talented chef and comfortable seating options. I had the roast beef. I didn't want to take a whole star off, it is a minor thing. Great quality ingredients, perfectly cooked, except the Yorkshire pudding. This was dry and I prefer mine a little flabby. This is the only downmarking in an otherwise truly surprising pub meal. Beer selection is decent with well kept lines. It would be nice to carry a local guest ale as well. Something to draw people to visit this slightly more remote location. Shiv is an excellent host, making sure he gets around the pub and greets everybody. The boy certainly knows how to play the game and this is all to the benefit of the punters.

The Jolly Farmer is a nice family pub with a charming outdoor seating area that perfectly complemented the good weather during our visit. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. The fish and the triple-fried chips were quite good, with the chips being the star of the show at an 8.5 out of ten. However, the chicken escalope with fried egg was disappointing. The chicken was bland and dry, and the tiny accompanying salad was just average. It wasn't great value for the price, and there were no redeeming qualities. The kids' burger was incredibly small, shame I forgot to take photos this time. It seems more suited for toddlers than older children. Overall, the food was overpriced for the quality. For that reason, they get 3 stars for food instead of 4. The service, however, was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive. Oh, and the kids did enjoy the sticky toffee pudding!

We booked a table for Sunday roast, but due to a last-minute request for extra seats, they kindly accommodated us without any fuss. The plates were huge portions, excellent value for money. I've lived 4 miles from this place for 35 years and never knew it existed until I met Shiv in a take-away last week. So this evening, a Sunday, my partner and I decided to visit it We were amazed that we didn't know such a brilliant establishment even existed. Arrived, shown to a quiet table and ...Shiv turned up to serve us! We had Cumberland sausages and mash and it was great. I had London Pride which was beautifully kept. We had some coffee tp finish. The only disappointment was, the mille fieulle had all been consumed by earlier eaters. Didn't they know my partner has been searching for this for two weeks as my birthday surprise? Duh. Ok, bottom line. The pub is great. The service (by Shiv) was excellent. The food was good and tasty. It didn't break the bank. The noise levels were very low. The garden looks inviting (but you all know what June '24 has been like so we stayed inside) and bears visiting on a better weather day. Would we go again? We will. My son is visiting from Bangkok with my granddaughter so instead of cooking..well...to put it another way, we've already planned to go back. But... please don't tell anyone about this superb little gem or everyone will want to go there and then I'll have trouble booking a table. (Joking..tell your friends and family.. you won't regret it.)

I had the Mille Feuille for dessert - light and crispy with sweet red fruits. For dog owners there’s a warm welcome in the pub and beside the car park there is lovely woodland to walk in. It's a nice pub with a decent garden, friendly staff etc but the food is just awful. We had a couple of sandwiches which came on the thinnest wholemeal sliced bread known to man. "Chips" which were so thin I would call them warm crisps. Maybe for a fiver, but at £11 for a sandwich and chips it's a rip off. You're better off at Greggs at the garage round the corner. Visited here for food one evening last week. One meal was fine and enjoyable (pie/mash/veg) the other included incredibly salty gammon that was luke warm in temperature which we advised the waitress of who apologised. The pub was very quiet. The otherwise good salad was overloaded with dressing which I was not expecting, would have been better on the side. Menu was fairly limited, mostly fried food especially the tapas, would have preferred a few more healthier options to be able to choose from. A pity I can't leave more positive feedback.

Decent food for price, albeit it's slightly cheaper than most pubs. More of a pub to watch six nations with six pints rather than a gastro pub. Dog friendly.

Worst Sunday roast ever. Broccoli are overcooked (brownish) and beef are too dry. Potato is hard to bite. Everything is over cooked...

Lovely gem of a pub which is well worth seeking out. Great food which arrived very quickly.

Lovely pub set in the countryside. Great to grab a drink at, I would avoid the food as not the best quality. The garden is really nice in summer.

We arrived late in the evening in the motorhome. Even though it was already closed, we were allowed to stay overnight in your parking lot for free after consultation. Thank you! We had lunch in the cozy beer garden and had a very good and inexpensive meal there. Everything was freshly prepared and we enjoyed it. The interior of the pub is very cozy and rustic. Everything was good in terms of price. This pub is highly recommended!

Terrible Roast. Beef chewy, Turkey dry, potatoes not crispy, gravy was like water, beef doesn't come stuffing, Yorkshire pudding was OK, brocolli hard to cut.... Location nice, alcohol good but weird smell like sewage in the garden at times.

Popular Fullers English pub where locals and dog walkers can relax away from the world as time drifts past. Car park leads to spacious garden, numerous well spaced tables, large grape vine covered patio area for poor weather, and serve-yourself water bowls for dogs. Resturant inside and small bar area and tables which allows dogs (and few treats if behave). Good menu and prices, food hot and well cooked, daily specials. Friendly relaxed service complements the atmosphere.

Love this place, and had excellent service from one of the young women today when I was unwell. Thank you!
