We called in for supper on our way to where we were staying for the night. The pub was small and quiet, but friendly. The one staff member on duty was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. We only had burgers but they were well cooked and fresh and the chips were amazing!

We were disappointed, the Royal Oak wasn't very clean. I had a burger, it wasn't what I expected, the roll was strange, a bit of melted cheese and the burger was solid. I love a burger but won't have this one again. The staff were very friendly, the ladies and the gents were very old and desperately needs upgrading. Won't go again.

The tractor in the carpark gave a hint of what was to come. The staff and customers were welcoming, the drinks were reasonably priced and the food was good value for money. Compliments to the chef. The two burgers that were ordered by my friend and I were both delightfully enjoyed and consumed with utmost glee, and quite frankly, great haste, because our palette was tickled in such a way that we had no other choice but to smash those tasty suckers down. Don't go there unless you're a local to Woodstreet and wash in the pond like rest of them. If you're not a regular as soon as you walk in there, you'll hear the record slip and the whole pub will be staring intently at these alien creatures from outside of Woodstreet, something totally unimaginable to these inbred hillbillies.

I was passing with a friend who had business in the area, so we called in for a quick drink. It was like stepping back in time. The staff were welcoming, it was clean and the cider was good. My male companion had a bit of a shock with the hike outside to find the gents toilet. He was glad it was a warm summers day and not raining. It was an interesting experience. The pub probably serves the local community well (I was impressed that they did OAP lunches) but in all honesty a good deal of money needs to be spent to drag the property into the 21st century.

Food was great, I drank Hogs Back HBB which was excellent and a good time was had by all. Both the barman and the landlord came over and checked everything was OK and the landlord brought the drinks over so I could eat as I was in the middle of getting more drinks when the food arrived.

What a magic little place this is! I have been coming to Guildford for 40 years and never been in here. We had parked in the Castle Hill car park next door and were on the way to G-Live. Down some steps to the front door into this cosy little place. A lovely open fire place with a stove in. The stag over the fire complete with Santa hat and people playing darts. We just had a drink before we made our way via the back door along the tiny path to the high street. Well worth a visit to a place with traditional charm.

We arrived in Guilford for the first time today (considering relocating) and were looking for a good pub for a sandwich and a glass. Caught site of a sign on the High Street pointing up an alley to "The Royal Oak - The oldest pub in Guilford". It was not easy to see - looked like a house until we got close. It overlooks the churchyard. But the welcome was very friendly, the beer & wine excellent and the sandwiches were some of the best we can recall! The staff were great and were happy to advise us on where to have dinner! Highly recommended.

I recently visited this public house after an absence of about 47 years. What a surprise, nothing much has changed. The layout and bar area are still the same but the decor has progressed, into the 70's! The pub is very relaxed and friendly as it always was. I had a jacket potato with cheese and beans, very nice. This was served with a large fresh salad. My only advice to the landlord/prospective guest - please don't serve the hot food in a separate dish, set amongst the salad - it makes the meal very unwieldy and is so 1980's. On the whole a pleasurable lunch.

We spent Sunday lunchtime at The Royal Oak to celebrate a family birthday. There were 9 of us with an age range from 80 to 5, with teenagers and middle aged parents in between. There were 3 vegetarians and several meat enthusiasts. We often have trouble finding somewhere to eat that suits all of us (can't think why) but this was just excellent. The food was great, from Sunday roast to vegetarian lasagna and quiche with burgers for the kids. The service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was brilliant. It was a warm day and we sat in the garden so the kids could run about and play on the swings with the other children. Dave the landlord checked we were happy with everything (we really were) and we had a great time.I really can't recommend the Royal Oak highly enough, it was just the perfect venue for our family celebration. Thank you to Dave and Natalie.

It was lovely, I met my brother for a drink and a catch up. I like how there are different areas of the pub such as cosy seats, pool tables, higher tables near the bar for however you’re feeling. Christmas decor was up which made it cheery. Great value for money and the katsu curry I had, had plenty of flavour and a very fair portion size! it’s a great pub to have as the local

So always served quickly and food is good however prices have gone up a bit and they only take cash??!!! Is always busy at the weekends but they are closing all of august WHAT ??? It’s the only place to grab a descent bite to eat in the daytime around here. Improvements would be better quality of red and brown sauce they do use the cheaper versions which in my opinion ruins the breakfast.
