The Snooty Fox in Guildford

It's not bad but pretty average. The chorizo hash was tasty. The eggs Benedict was cold and a bit crass. The kids pasta was borderline disgusting. All in a nice location and space.

Just had breakfast lovely food ,,on arrival with a push chair .we waited ages to get seat and we felt like we were in the wey .service is awful and on leaving no good bye or even how was the food .wouldn't trckonmend this cafe

My first time I ordered a peppermint tea they just give a me a tea bag in a hot water for £3. My personal point of view that was over priced. The second time I went there I ordered a ham cheese toast it was okay.

A popular cafe which offers takeaway and eat in. We had sandwiches and tea. The sandwiches were made to order, with plenty of filling 😋. My husband used the facilities, he said was clean, but downstairs. I'm not sure if there's a disabled toilet that is on the same level as the cafe. Staff were polite, and we didn't have to wait long to be served. We called in at lunchtime.

Surprised by the lack of vegan options in this day and age. I had an avocado sandwhich. No sweet treats vegan (no allergens listed) and even a bag of the salt and vinegar contains milk (why?!?!) Avoid if you are vegan

ABYSMAL- as a vegetarian they didn’t change any of their gloves between customers or orders, one woman used the same gloves to put things in a bin then serve food and drinks to customers. Don't think I’ve ever seen so many incompetent people try and make a coffee £6.30 for two of the smallest lukewarm most horrible coffees I’ve ever had I don’t recommend at all don’t waste your money, all of the staff were miserable and looked confused when we ordered a flat white and a latte we were going to order a sandwich but were completely put off by waiting 20 minutes for the two of sandwich's in front to be made. DON’T EVER COME HERE

I was asked to meet a client here who lives close by. The plan was to have a coffee and some lunch then head off to site and get down to business. The coffee was tiny, the cup not clean and very very overpriced. My food was cold and I tried to raise this with the staff who seemed to have the attitude of like it or lump it. Such a great location where a nice cafe could be... Unfortunately this isn't one.

How difficult is it to fully cook an egg? Disappointing especially given the price. Some hot water - 0.75 p, egg and toast 8.25 - eggs still not fully cooked after 2nd try. Will leave next time.

We found this little cafe and stopped for lunch. Amazing food and very friendly staff. Very good quality coffee and the food was excellent - I had the halloumi burger - it was delicious.

Extremely overpriced. 4 hot drinks, 2 sandwiches and a croissant nearly £40! Rude server. Spilt milk on the table and my foot, barely acknowledged it let alone wiped it up. If I wasn't with visiting relatives, I would have walked out.

Beware every item you have toasted they charge £3 then only toast one side. We query the price of a sandwich when at till as charged £9 for that we said why as not toasted was then told its because vat ontop. So recommend checking the prices and how much they actually charge you at till as there prices are not clear on the items in the fridge

£40 for a couple of sandwiches, couple of cans of drink, bag of crisps and a sausage roll. When I queried the £9.60 charge for a sandwich (which I got at their shop last week for less than half that amount) they initially said it was for toasting the sandwiches, and when I pointed it that only one was toasted then was told it was VAT! And the sandwich that was toasted was only toasted on one side. Products are very nice but the charging rates for them are ridiculous. Have discovered that they add a £3 surcharge PER ITEM to eat in, so if you get 5 items you will be paying an additional £15 to use a chair and table! Terrible way to treat customers and not sure if this is even legal as prices displayed do not include this, you will only find out if you ask.

Our local cycling club will generally cycle and stop at a cafe for coffee and cake at the weekend so we are very familiar with lots of cafe's around Surrey and the surrey Hills.. We stopped at the Snooty Fox recently and once you have navigated the entrance and ordering process you then pay for your items. I had to look twice at the girl who said £9.10 for a cake and takeaway coffee..... I was in a state of shock and actually paid. We sat outside and eventually they bring the drink/s and cakes out to you.... The coffee cup was the smallest I have ever seen...... I thought it was an expresso cup!... All of the group could not believe the costs and said that we would not be coming back here again.... Do yourselves a favor and save lots of money and keep cycling :)

I stumbled across this little gem of a cafe whilst passing through Shalford. Initially my wife and I were just going to grab and go, but it looked so inviting we chose to eat in and enjoy a child free lunch. My wife went for the Halloumi burger and I opted for the steak ciabatta. Mine was gorgeous, a huge serving of tasty steak, fresh salad, complemented by giant homemade onion rings. Luckily I got to try some of my wife’s burger and the chutney and cheese combo was delicious. Cracking food, friendly staff all served in a lovely bistro style cafe at a good price. My only issue is we live 45 minutes 😜

Not a great experience. Stopped here for a spot of lunch. Had to Order at the counter, there's no table service... this is relevant to what I write below. Just 2 Coffees and 2 sandwiches came to 27 POUNDS!! Because they charge you an extra £3 per person to eat in!!! I am never going there again just because of that ridiculous overcharging to dine in!! Note they don't list their prices with the £3 included so you only discover that charge when you pay, not when you stand at the till. If the did the a normal sandwich costs near £10. The Food wasn't exceptional, which it should be for the prices... but it wasn't bad either. The breakfast sandwich of sausage, egg and bacon was nice. But it Effectively costs £9.60 per sandwich and coffee at £4 if you choose to dine in. Normally I'd tip but there wasn't anything in the budget to tip and the service and atmosphere were average at best. Sadly I wouldn't recommend this overpriced café. No I won't go back even though I'm fairly local and pass by frequently. and to be honest the location isn't great or picturesque so I now know I'm not missing out on anything worthwhile.

£3 per person extra, that’s £6 for two people just to eat inside. That made our sandwiches nearly £10 each respectively. We paid £27 for two sandwiches and 2 coffees. That is unacceptable considering the service and what you get. The breakfast sandwich was lovely but the tuna melt sandwich had cold slices of cheese in it. It wasn’t a tuna melt. We will not be back here again.

Always a great spot to stop for a coffee, bite to eat or bigger meal. Friendliest team in Guildford. I love the fact that they don't try to rush you out the door if they aren't busy so I can finish what I working on. Very much recommended..

Made our final visit to the Snooty Fox today after discovering they now charge a £3 per person (no minimum group size) service charge to eat/drink in! Our “service charge” equated to 25% of our total bill 😐, and to add insult to injury, the food was average, and the service was sullen. Avoid!

Rare to get a smile or friendly service.

Sadly after many enjoyable visits, I think today was our last. Too expensive for the experience. £46: (1) egg mayo sandwich, butternut soup, coffee (2) goulash soup, coffee, can of Diet Coke & a glass of Prosecco & a small piece of cake. Sat outside next to the road.

This is a hub of the community and also welcoming to all visitors, We love the freshness of the food and when in a rush the Bacon Sandwiches or if have longer to stay and have the dish of the day. We also like to pick up for picnics. Great for either relaxing with a wine or family time with Grandchildren

My wife and I were passing and thought we would stop by as it looked lovely from the outside. We walked in and were met with surly, rude middle aged lady that could barely look you in the eye and acknowledge you. We went to buy a sandwich and order two coffees and a young girl, said, "is that it"....I assume she learnt her customer service and socail skills rom the older lady and my wife and I decided that we would rather not have coffees and something to eat than pay to eat somewhere where we didn't feel welcome. Very disappointed.

Popular cafe mid morning, especially with the older generation. Great breakfast menu, and especially liked that you could create your own cooked breakfast. You have to go to the counter to order, which isn’t my favourite, and I did get ignored a bit to start with, but think I may have been in the wrong place. However, overall our experience was good, especially once we tucked in.

Love this place, I'd prefer to go here than subway, seems fresher and the staff are so friendly and welcoming, happy to help, just a fantastic place

Rude staff, absolutely appalling behaviour. I went with a friend at 3:30pm, knowing the closing time (checked on the internet before going) is 5pm. They started shutting down as we sat outside. They got my order wrong and when I tried to speak to the waitress she purposefully ignored me and continued bringing tables in to close down, then rushed us at 4pm saying they were closing early because it was a quiet day. Not only they got the order wrong but they had zero costumer care, definitely a place to avoid.

Seems very popular, was packed when I went on a Friday morning. Had a lovely flapjack and coffee. The service was odd though - stood at the counter on my own I was asked what I wanted. When I ordered, and then answered that it was to take away I was told I had to order at the till, literally 3m to my right. We both moved to the till and went through the process again. Bizarre!

It’s massively over priced. There are better cafes and the prices are exorbitant! The food is fine. The sandwiches are average but £4 for middle of the road coffee is not acceptable. And they don’t take Amex. Avoid.

This cafe is pleasantly situated, it is spacious inside and has outside seating at the front and in the garden at the back. I met a group of friends here for lunch on a quiet weekday. There was still quite a queue, many people taking sandwiches away, presumably to surrounding offices. I suppose this explains the £3 extra added to lunches eaten on the premises, but it certainly was not a 'cheap eat'. Sandwiches appear to be freshly made to order, and with only 1 person making them, she definitely did not have time to waste!! However, we managed to sit comfortably in the garden under a large sunshade, and were quickly served by a very pleasant young lady. My toasted sandwich was delicious, as was the fresh orange juice. All of my friends enjoyed their meals. Very good, but this was a quiet Monday, wouldn't like to go on a busy day!

First time we had a fantastic brunch today. Fresh and delicious. The staff is very friendly . It way to early to try the Hungarian goulash but definetely come back shortly . Thank you so much 🙏🇭🇺

Bad experience. Service with a smile is obviously a alien concept. First and last visit greeted by very abrupt sandwich maker when we just asked how it all worked feels very cliquey. Food to expensive for dry cakes . Nice setting but think profit is the only thing that Interests owners.

Really great place but lots of staff for very slow service

I recently visited The Snooty Fox café in Shalford, Surrey, and had a fantastic experience. The café is known for its commitment to homemade and fresh food offerings, and my chorizo hash did not disappoint. The dish was made with generous proportions of homemade fillings and fresh bread, which made for a delicious and satisfying meal.

This is a lovely little cafe, always busy. The coffee and food are generally good quality and the staff polite. I do take issue with some of the pricing, it is quite expensive to eat in. Not sure how £3 extra a 60% increase is justified for a hot bacon sandwich when the VAT and most of the overheads are already baked into the cost of the takeout.

I’m always disappointed when I come here. Food and drink is hit and miss but when it’s bad it’s very bad.

Fortunately I did not eat in this afternoon, otherwise this poorly made sandwich with brie and cranberry would have cost me almost £8!!! As you can see from the photos, no real care taken in its preparation - I cannot understand how they get away with adding an extra £3 onto eat in food orders. We will be going to our local Bramley cafe from now on *Update*. This place is not wheelchair accessible - staff told me to use the exit door which is right next to a load of chairs and tables outside and a very small space Infront of the counter and till with no manoeuvre room to go inside and find a table. There is a ramp up to the door but if the place is super busy which it is most of the time , a wheelchair albeit a lightweight one like mine, would not be able to go inside. There needs to be a review of this to make the safe accessible for everyone

£4.25 for a single, dry welsh cake is outrageous and two of our 3 coffee cups were chipped. Coffee sizes also really small for the price. Wouldn’t go again and wouldn’t recommend.

Nice place, coffee was lovely. They did forget half my order and it wasn’t handled very well when I queried it. Nonetheless, the food was good.

Well I obviously don’t hang out in the right coffee shops. Today was the first time I have spent over £4 for a coffee 😧 - it was tasty but that is not really justifiable, surely? The pain au chocolat was the biggest disappointment though - dry and expensive (probably from the day before). And despite 4 servers being behind the till, it took a minute or two before I was even acknowledged - and there were about 4 other punters inside. Maybe the name is apt. Nice toilets though.

I've stopped here a couple of times as it's convenient, each time I've felt it was a bit over priced, but this time it really did seem to take the biscuit. Two cups of tea, a croissant and a very small slice of cake was around £16! I had ham and cheese in the croissant, it was fine but it certainly wasn't anything special. It seemed that we were also charged around £1 per item extra for the privilege of eating inside..

I've visited quite a few times recently, while clearing a house in the village, and the quality of food and service has been consistently good every time - a welcome break on some quite challenging days. The cafe is very well staffed and always welcoming. The food is what you'd expect in a village cafe, but good quality and well presented. Very good coffee and pastries too.

Food good, service a little erratic (young team) waited 20mins for food and then had to remind them the. Wait another 5 mins for a toastie. That said friendly and good coffee

Went here for breakfast. Asked for a bacon roll with ketchup. This was a takeaway ordered so was wrapped up, made it down the road realised it had no sauce in it. This has happened a few times. Food isn't as good as they think it is and staff cleanly struggle to understand basic requests. Ended up throwing the dry bacon roll away. So be careful and check everything you order as they have probably got it wrong.

Drive past this so often. Decided to grab some breakfast and was blown away by the service. Loads of staff who go above and beyond to make sure you’re accommodated for. Definitely make sure you stop in! Perfect

Every Sunday morning, I enjoy a cup of coffee and toasty or scrambled eggs. Everything tastes delicious and the staff is very, very friendly!

Beautiful location in a wonderful part of the world and it’s well furnished. Unfortunately it stops there. I’m always happy to pay a premium for good food but the quality of food at the snooty fox is well below par - which is a great shame due to the good points above. They are clearly margin driven as they’ve not just scrimped on procuring good produce but also haven’t invested in well trained staff - unfortunately most of which are young children just old enough to work; who the owners get away with paying minimum wage. This place has so must potential and would be easy to get it right but they’ve fallen short in so many ways.

Had the full English breakfast, which was very nice. Only 4 stars due to cost. Breakfast plus a cup of tea nearly £15. OK, you only get what you pay for, but still excessive.

Overpriced. Had this place saved for a while and visited recently whilst walking the dog in the area. Flat white was over £4, no sign of what the beans were they were using, but wasn’t even that nice. Worth noting most roasters or craft cafes are charging between £3.40-3.70 for good quality coffee. My full English although tasty again felt overpriced at £15, and again, no mention of the produce being local or sustainable or anything that would support such a price. Partner had porridge and a banana and that was £6. Say what you like, we’re in our thirties and spent the last 10 years in North London, yet both of us left here feeling marginally ripped off. Won’t go again.

To be fair it was very busy Sunday lunchtime so when i arrived on my first visit for a quiet coffee and catch up on jobs on my phone i was disappointed! ... anyway £3 extra on a four quid sandwich if you eat it inside is taking the p*ss. Luckily it was a sunny day and i sat on the park bench right outside and ate my delicious baguette

This friendly atmospheric café in the small village of Shalford has become the hub of social interaction. The food and drink are of highest quality. The sandwich fillings are the most varied I've come across in a café. The downloadable app makes preordering of orders a breeze. It has inside and outside seating, and an area in the back for large groups or gatherings.

Have loved this place for years, but £12.55 for a coffee and sandwich? Really? Getting greedy, possibly. Ps, table dirty, loos dirty etc. Oh dear

Ordered iced coffee. Bearing in mind all is required to serve it is to put some ice in a cup and pour the pre made coffee. Two members of staff stood around doing nothing whilst waiting for the “guy who does the coffees” to do them, as if they were incapable of doing it themselves! Each coffee also costing 4 quid when they are quite small! If you’re going to serve overpriced coffee at least don’t leave your customers waiting 15 minutes to get it. Sandwiches here are also overpriced considering they skimp on the ingredients. The only reason they get away with it in my opinion is because there’s no other competition in Shalford. This place is highly overrated and I will not be spending money here again.

Ordered 2 takeaway iced coffees cost £8.40!!! Had to wait over 10 mins for it to be poured out of a ready made vat because only one member of staff was on drinks. I saw 2 other members of staff standing doing nothing! Very expensive and slow service. I will not go again.

Had an early start and missed breakfast. Stopped here for a late breakfast/brunch. Ordered the Snotty big breakfast. Expensive but well worth it. Quantity and quality. The whole breakfast was very good but the eggs and sausages were outstanding. Atomosphere was great as well with a very diverse bunch of customers. This was a Monday morning. The queue at the weekend must be a mile long. If you are passing, stop and feast. You'll have to a long way to find better. Staff were excellent as well.

Very disappointing to support local business and be charged a whopping £4 for one chocolate chip cookie. Even the lovely waitrons could not improve my mood after that. Nice coffee but also over priced at £4, so we wont be supporting again.

A little overpriced but very tasty and way above a " greasy spoon" cafe, so.... worth the extra charge.

Nice location, overlooking a green open space with cricket pitch, and good atmosphere inside. Food was fine - one of us had a toasted sandwich, another a BLT sandwich and staff were particularly helpful re one of our party who had special dietary requirements (cook did a poached egg salad, which was delicious). Air conditioning was a bonus, it being a warm day.

Well! What can I say?! Just brilliant! Absolutely fantastic burger ( with added bacon and cheese) not cheap but great quality and so very very tasty!! The bun was the best bun I’ve ever had a burger in! The patty was not shy ! Super succulent! The chips on the side were wonderful too! Although I think I could have eaten just a few more! ! Flat white was good ! The only issue was the parking! I guess it was just bad timing but we spent ten minutes driving around near by road’s looking for a space only to end up doubling back to find a space practically outside the place🙄! Really good ! I ordered a simple cheese ‘n ham and a black coffee. My sandwich was made with pride and ready in no time at all. While waiting to pay not a single person acknowledged my existence. And when they finally could be bothered to make my coffee I had had enough and said don’t bother. Left with the sandwich and bought a coffee elsewhere. Don’t know if I could recommend to be honest.

experienced their in the last couple of days my mix of prawn sandwich on granary was to die for. However not to be out done their home made sausage roll was even better. Service both times prompt and delightfully pleasant. A real treat!
