Bill's restaurant and cafe in Guildford

A fairly nice place. Staff were very friendly and service was very quick. The place felt crowded and cramped, but not too noisy. The full English I had was not perfect, since it was missing bacon. The mushrooms were not amazing.

I've struggled with allergy awareness and slow service at other bills but this one is great. They helped us figure out how to qualify for the birthday voucher and kept professional and friendly despite me getting quite stressed. Great service

We went to Bill's on a Saturday evening for dinner. Our party included two people with food sensitivities, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that we could safely enjoy our food. The food itself was lovely. The only tiny snag was that our desserts and coffee came out in a bit of a strange order, and essentially we couldn't all eat together as the ice cream was melting - I had finished my dessert by the time the others arrived, and my friend's coffee came well before his dessert.

The beer prices are ridiculous, so I won't be returning.

Food was lovely, staff were very attentive. Just wish there were a couple more interesting vegan options. It was also loud/ a bit cramped as well which made it less comfortable. Overall a nice place to eat as a family.

Had gluten free pancakes- they are too thick and texture more like cake than a pancake. Otherwise service and atmosphere is good

I’d booked a table of 25 for a surprise birthday dinner, it couldn’t have gone better. I rang with questions after booking and spoke to Harry who was helpful and calmed any anxiety I had over organising such a big group. And then when we arrived, I met our waiter Corey? (Photo attached of name) who was super helpful, commanded the attention of the room when serving, was super confident and communicated so fantastically throughout the three courses. He was so delightful and kind and everyone told me how great he was. Everyone loved their food but Bills is always great, but it was the service that really made it an exceptional evening.

Staff were phenomenal, the food was a little slow coming out but we were kept informed and our drinks topped up while we waited. And it was well worth the wait!

Service is great. Food is not good. Smootie is a sort of thin juice, mostly consisting of ice. Eggs benedict the worst I ever had, with sour avocado mash and no salt. Tea pot only half filled with water.

We had a reservation but were sat in the busiest part despite a mass of empty tables, they were doing the best they could considering they had bundled everyone together. Food came quick which was good but the stack of pancakes were completely stale I couldnt even eat them and the copious amounts of syrup couldn’t even soften them. Tasted like they had sat out for the past 2-3 days. For the price it’s not worth it. Without asking the staff also added on an additional £5 service charge which was meant to be optional. Now usually we wouldn’t ever complain about a place but considering we spent £50 as it was . The food quality and attention at Guildford is well below sub par and should take a page out of the Kingston branches book. After that experience today I don’t think we’d be back again. Which is a shame as we used to love bills in Kingston. Stale food, extortionate prices, super enclosed space, tables on top of each other and listening to the staff moan about the customers within earshot. Not the best way to end the weekend but hopefully constructive criticism and can be improved on.

Pros The host/server at the entrance (a tall man with dark hair and a non-English accent) allowed me to amend my reservation for later. Whilst staying at The Angel Hotel, the WiFi wasn’t working at the time, so I couldn’t do it online. I was sat down quickly, checked on, given water to start, and given ample time to decide what to order. Communication was great as the server offered me a substitution for a type of whisky they didn’t have. The food had good flavor and the spiciness was actually spicy, contrary to other ‘spicy’ dishes I’ve had in Europe. Another server waited on me (average height blond woman with glasses and nicely manicured nails), who was lovely. When I finished my meal, she asked if I’d like another order or dessert which made me feel very welcome. Her energy was great. Cons The original server I met at the entrance wasn’t warm at first, (though he was cordial) and I almost didn’t dine here because of that. He did eventually warm up and could’ve just been having a day. I try to give others grace-within reason. I was sat right in front of a cart with glasses that clanked loudly when the servers would handle them. Upon entering, I requested a seat at one of the booths in the main area, yet the server (the man) stated that whole section was reserved. My only critique is to have large reservations in a separate area, or some sort of demarcation/sign for clarification. The food was a bit cool, though since it’s Lent season and I’m fasting from 0600-1800, I went ahead and ate it as was. Additionally about the food, the sauce (고추장 gochujang) for the sticky duck salad and Korean loaded fries had too much sugar. I recommend having all sauces on the side for the customer to decide how much they want on their meal. Ultimately, I would dine here again, though not as my first choice.

The bread, soft as a lover's sigh; the meat, tender as the morning dew upon the rose; the fruits, ripe as the golden sun upon the ripened vine. A banquet brunch, worthy of noble-folk, where each bite doth bring joy to the heart and delight to the soul. But mark ye well, it is not only the fare that doth shine, but also the hands that bring it forth. The staff, with manners as gentle as the breeze, attended me with warmth and mirth. Their smiles, bright as the dawn, did light my path; their service swift and true, like a noble steed racing through the verdant fields. Each servant, a gracious steward, tending to my needs with the utmost care, as if we were royals beneath their watchful eye. Truly, this place dost deserve the highest praise—where both the food and the folk are as fair and pleasant as any golden dream. I shall return again, forsooth, with joy in my heart and hunger in my soul!

We went to celebrate a significant birthday for Breakfast. The service was very good and we made our order of crushed avocado on sourdough with spicy tomatoes, poached egg and bacon. When it arrived, we noticed that both of our breakfasts were cold. We decided that we wouldn’t want to spoil the occasion by complaining so we ate our breakfast. When the wait. we’re cold. We are very unlikely to return to this restaurant again.

We came here for brunch. It was unfortunate we were downstairs as I love natural light. Our seat was unfortunate too - wirh staff and guests knocking past me when walking through. The bathroom facilities are not up to standard and in need of a serious refresh. Other than that, we had a nice time and the food was good and the staff were lovely.

I celebrated my birthday here yesterday and the food and service was amazing, they gave us some complimentary champagne which was lovely, definitely recommend 🥰🍸

We had an interesting experience in Bills! We had hoped to have a salad, as per the online menu, but there were no salads on the menu we were handed. On asking we were told we had been given the wrong menu and then handed a second menu, which had indeed got salads on it! How strange. So we ordered food but an hour later we were still waiting for our food, and unfortunately our waitress hadn’t put the order through to the kitchen!!! The manageress was amazing, thank you. We were told the meal would be on Bills - we were invited to add to our order, whatever we wanted! And she also threw in some delicious cauliflower bites she wanted us to try. So all in all, a tasty supper, on the house! The ineffectual waitress didnt even have the manners to apologise, but the professionalism and attitude of the manageress was outstanding and she saved the day. Thank you.

We visited Bill's for a birthday lunch for three. Calamari, paté, chargrilled chicken, minute steak, and a mountain of fruit pancakes! Wonderful food, a charming environment, and extremely well cared for by Davinia! We'll definitely be back! Thank you!

I visited for a catch up with friends last weekend. Overall we had an enjoyable time. As we were a larger group we were seated downstairs which was fine by us. I had the chicken shawarma salad which was nice but the amount of chicken was slightly minimal in my opinion. I liked that the Trip CBD drinks were on the menu.

A Fabulous cafe restaurant tucked away in a beautiful ancient passage. Service is quick and friendly. We went there during a relatively quiet Thursday late morning but I could imagine the crowds during weekends.

My friends and I went here last weekend for brunch, and the experience was fantastic! It was super busy (as expected on a Saturday), and since we didn’t have a reservation, we had to wait an hour. However, despite the crowd, the service was excellent. A special shoutout to our lovely hostess, Hannah, who made us feel so welcome. The food was amazing—great taste, generous portions, and definitely worth the price. We tried the English breakfast and the burger, both of which were delicious! Plus, they serve brunch until 5 PM, which is perfect for late risers like me. The freshly squeezed orange juice was a refreshing bonus. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I’ll definitely be coming back!

What a beautiful find!!! Lovely atmosphere (even a room in the old crypt downstairs), friendly staff and lots of delicious vegan options. As an extra bonus they have their own lager and cider too! And the desserts are to die for. Our go-to place in Guilford 😊

I love the Bill's chain of restaurants, having been to the ones in Lewis, Brighton, Chichester and Horsham many times. The Guildford one is accessed through a tiny lane and is as quirky inside as all the others, with brightly-coloured wallpaper. I had the vegan burger which is one of the best vegan burgers I've ever had and added vegan bacon which was nice. We shared a hummus and flatbread starter which was very good too. I've had the vegan watermelon salad before and again, it's very good. The service was very efficient and the atmosphere relaxing. Couple of reasons I only gave 4 stars overall and 4 for the food. It was a bit drafty and we weren't sitting that near the door so don't know why. And the 4 for food was that the rosemary fries weren't very nice, dry and felt like they had been sitting around for a while. I didn't complain as the burger more than made up for it and I work in hospitality so know that chips are batch-cooked so I could have asked for a fresh replacement. Otherwise lovely place and strongly recommend.

Had a work place Xmas meal booked . Arrived to find chaos - our table was not ready and as everyone else arrived we had to wait for so long to have tables moved and created . A big party arrived after us and were seated & served before us. We ate so late. The manager did apologise and explain there system went down , loosing all their bookings & they were left not knowing who was attending however they did have a diary with all the bookings as reference was made to how many guests were in our party according to their diary. The seafood cocktail was gorgeous and they catered for Gluten free requirements The roast turkey mains was very dissappointing- the turkey was dry, the carrots were not cooked, . The cheese board was fine again catering for Gluten free . Finishing out meal at 10.30 pm was not an experince I would want to have again. The staff were very polite, accomodating and doing their level best but clearly they were overwhemed with customers who were queing to get in when we arrived. I had very good reviews and was not expecting sadly a poor experience. I am sure on any other day the restraunt would be totally different.

The Bills ( Guildford) table booking website seems faulty so can't book a table for Guildford You can't seem to call restaurant direct and phone lines don't open to call centre til 9am.tried to book online for 30 mins . I give up !! Any ideas .

Excellent service, was busy, but accommodated us quickly and in a professional manner. Ordering was quick and our drinks came quickly. Food also arrived quickly and was very good, eggs also cooked well. Reasonably priced for Guildford also.

Unfortunately my food was all fat and gristle. Given a free dessert and a cold coffee as an apology. Not terribly impressed to be honest. Incredibly hard to get service as no one there and we were dumped in the basement.

We were visiting Guildford for a school theater play. We stopped in a hurry and we were so happy with that decision. We had a couple of drinks and the classic sharer. It was amazing!!! The service was great and the place is adorable!!!! Highly recommend it!!!!

Come here for fast, affordable, healthy option meals. I massively underestimated Bills, considering it just another chain restaurant, but in reality serves a range of great, well balanced, well portioned, reasonably priced tasty meals. I came here for brunch and was not disappointed. The vegan selection is varied enough to cater for most.

I have been a Bill’s customer, and have loved their food for many years and been to many of them across the UK, but never been to the one in Guilford. This last weekend, whilst in Guilford, I was looking for somewhere to go for lunch and so Bill’s was the logical choice. The service was fantastic, and friendly, even if a little slow at times, the food however was a horrible disappointment. I ordered eggs florentine, something I have had before. What was served to me was disgraceful and not to what I have come to expect from a Bill’s. The hollandaise sauce was revolting, the mix of hollandaise and spinach is normal, but with avo sounded interesting but honestly does not work. It may have been okay if the sauce was better BUT this was quite horrible. If the “chef” cannot make a hollandaise, I suggest this person return to a reputable school to learn; hollandaise is a basic sauce, and every chef will know how to make it. I’m told from my other guests that the burgers were great, so might suggest just avoid anything with the hollandaise sauce.

Bills are coeliac accredited, so always a good chain restaurant when looking for somewhere to eat with gluten free options. The gluten free menu is still quite big and the food is always good. Pretty decent size meals too.

We had a group booking for 18 people for lunch in a sunday. We had the downstairs dining area which is very charming with vaulted ceilings, in a very old part if the building that has a lot of history. Our server was Kathy and she went out of her way to be courteous and helpful. Despite the large booking food came out very quickly and the portion sizes were generous.

It was nice food as expected. The flat bread tasted a bit old ... hence the 4 star. Great speed service!

My friends and I visited Guildford Bills for a brunch catch up, after graduating and living in Guildford for 4 years! We have never had a bad experience at this Bills, super lovely staff and great food! Hanna was our server and was really friendly!

Always has a great atmosphere with a full GF menu too. Our waitress that evening was Evie who was friendly, attentive and made our dining experience so enjoyable. Highly recommend!
