Wooden Bridge in Guildford

Sunday lunch, for family 2 adults and two children. Only Sunday roast available, Turkey or beef. Asked for gravy on the side , all came smothered in a thick dark brown gravy and a jug of gravy on the side. Very poor presentation and the quality of the turkey was poor but the single slice of beef was the toughest I ever had. We didn’t even consider dessert ! Not to be recommended, AVOID.

A group of 12 of us (5 adults and 7 children) enjoyed a lovely meal and time at the Wooden Bridge pub. We pre-ordered on the day and the food was ready soon after we arrived, the service was great and the food was nice too, and all extremely well-priced! We will definitely be back every school holidays.

Got a £100 parking fine for parking in the car park. I’m pretty observant but didn’t realise you had to pay nor did anybody tell me in the pub and it was quiet. I’ve since tried ringing the pub but nobody answers the phone

To say I had a terrible time would be an understatement. Firstly the manager was very abrupt with us from get go. A family member attempted to order soup and was denied with no reason other than it was only available Monday to Friday on the seniors menu. No problem took a look at the menu and the gluten free menu and I see the soup. I go back to the bar ask for the soup from the gluten free menu. I was shocked at the level of rudeness from the manager. Talking at me, telling me that dish was only available Monday to Friday. I stood my ground stating I was ordering from the gluten free menu which is available u days a week. I was horrified to be turned down for a second time despite the item showing on another menu. I proceeded to wait for my other dishes then thought I would see if I could order the item on the app and I was able to. Then after a stern word from the manager again I was issued a refund. After a brief chat with my partner at the bar, she was told the item was no longer available and has been removed from the menu. Never have I experienced something so ridiculous in my life.

Staff were not very attentive and weren’t clear on the ts&cs for the offers they were running. Although the vibe is good and very sociable! The food is cheap small options do reflex this however the wait does not! We ordered food at 6:30pm with and ended waiting an hour and half. When mentioned to staff about the wait they seemed un phased and didn’t offer any reassurance. Nice pub but horrific service

The car park is a joke . They have a cash machine to paid but have a camera that will send you a parking ticket 3 weeks later . You try to get in contact with them and you can only contact them by letter. Which they never replied to. This is on the pub . If they want the business then they need to sort this out.

Normally such a great pub. Went this evening for a soft drink (hence didn't bring ID) but was refused service, and didn't find the bar staff particularly nice to deal with. Shame as the staff are normally very helpful.

Horrible food, Bad quality ingredients. Would definitely not have food here ever agen, Breakfast very bad, Bad quality sausage and bacon, When you can't even fry up some mushrooms properly, they Looked and tasted Awful (Pictured) Quite embarrassing to be fair

Another excellent Sunday roast beef lunch here today. I love this place; it's dog, family and wheelchair friendly. Good food and a wide selection of drinks. The staff here are wonderful. It also has a beer garden, parking and WiFi.

The food was excellent as always, but the service provided by Bena was great as she spoke the language of my parents and was very helpful in making it clear of what we are getting.

Good quality food for the price, they could do with more staff at peak times.

This a very nice place. Relaxed and quiet atmosphere even with numerous tvs and pool tables around. Good service from staff. Polite & attentive also quick to clean tables of glasses. 2for1 offers on a few beers and cocktails,which my wife said were good & quite strong.lol. The price if the food is outstandingly cheap so we expected a kind of so so meal. Not at all the quality and quantity is fantastic possibly the only rime I have not 'moaned' about some aspect of the meal. We will definitely be going back, valentines day actually as I'm a cheapskate,lol. 3drinks 2 meals and change from £25. Seriously people this place is worth checking out. Wayne and Kim. Have since returned and built my own burger, big piece of chicken chips onion rings and 3 sides, smoked bacon hash brown and an egg on a Wednesday its for £5. McDonald's bah!!!. I couldn't make this myself at that price. Wife and daughter did the same. 3 very good meals £15.

Great pub lovely place to have some food an a few drinks

My favourite and go-to sports pub in Guildford. The staff are always friendly, drinks are very reasonably priced and good atmosphere. Recently went for the Euros and the staff, particularly the senior colleague waiting tables, work exceptionally hard to deliver a top service.

Our favourite local pub. We could see how hard the staff worked during all the euros games - we really appreciated it especially when the bar was extremely packed and there were lots of people waiting. Especially the guy in the blue England football shirt collecting empties and serving food / drinks orders - lovely guy and very patient, kind and hard working. I hope they get some time off to recover! Thank you to him and everyone :)

Poorly run. Tables inside full of empty plates and glasses , and empty glasses outside. One person behind the bar and one serving food. Food is ok for the price especially burger wednesday £5 or £6 if you double up your burger. We got short changed on our hash browns the 2 weeks before , only recieved one, when the menu and web app says hash browns which is plural for more than one. When the landlady collected our plates and ask is everything was ok with the food , i mentioned thst i only recieved one hash brown, her reply was that it was a type error with the menu . But she did bring me a hash brown personally from the kitchen. Then last week my work collegue got two hash browns with his burger. So she basically lied to us about the menu. There are 3 pool tables , loads of tv's to watch sports and a large beer garden at the front. The mens toilets need a good revamp . Burger wednesday photo came with 2 hash browns.

+Classic british pub food with extremely competitive pricing & a pool table/some other stuff to the side -Had to wait over 45 minutes for lunch even though the pub was almost empty, the pie was cold (probably frozen then put in the oven) & there was a lack of seasoning on the Chips/Chicken wings

Had a lovely meal with the family. Walk in 8 of us and were very quickly seated even though the place looked very busy. The burgers were amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection and the staff couldn't have been any friendlier.

Few Waitress were so rude, I didn’t feel welcome. Definitely not coming back.

Food was OK for the price, but the service was diabolical. There was one young woman running the bar single-handed, while an older female (landlady?) was more interested in having a drink than serving any customers. On ordering food we were told that my choice of mac & cheese would take 30 minutes but we agreed to wait. Almost an hour later our food finally arrived. My husband had ordered scampi and chips without peas, but his request was ignored and also the chips were nearly cold. My food was OK but I did wonder why it had taken so long to microwave a supermarket basic ready meal. The garlic bread was burnt on one side and soggy on the other. However, we feared that if we sent any of it back we would be waiting another hour. In the meantime, people who had arrived after us had finished their meals and left. We waited a further 20 minutes for dessert - apple pie was served with ice cream instead of custard which was requested, but by then we were pushed for time so didn't flag it up. The pub wasn't exactly busy and I can understand why - if it had been, we'd have been driving home in the dark! As it was, we arrived just after one o'clock and finally left at nearly four. We will not be going again.

Food was absolutely dreadful. All overcooked if not microwaved. Very disappointing. Full of under age drinkers. Avoid.

Got rid of there best chefs. This pub is going to go majorly down hill again now! with trainee chefs with no experience with food. Shame. Roast dinners are awful now, and the food standards has dropped massively. Manager should be worried about his job

Ordered drinks online that never arrived so had to chase after 45mins. Upon food order was told about a 35 min wait. The pub was quiet considering it was a Sunday and still waited over an hour for food. Burgers were good and kids a good value but the roast dinner was really not good. Also didn’t listen to food request made (removing item) which I usually wouldn’t be as bothered about but nothing seemed to go right. Good prices but not when the food seemed inedible. Other tables around us complained on the wait time for drinks and others spoke directly with owner so clearly lots of people felt that way. Men’s toilets weren’t in good condition and for a family friendly pub, there was no baby changing despite advertising to say there is and had to change my child on the floor.

Went for lunch. Coffee machine was out of order, again, and food for four people took 45 minutes to start being served and another 45 minutes from the first dish being served to the final dish being brought out. Used to be a convenient place to meet up with old friends but we shan't be returning.

Around a month ago I witnessed racist verbal abuse towards a bartender working at the wooden bridge she was a young black girl and when the manger got told who was off duty drinking she then proceeded to have a drink with the culprit and didn’t side with her co worker I thought this incident would have got sorted out but when I came in to visit the wooden bridge again she was still working! I am a manger of my own company and I found this behaviour disgusting towards and would never let anything like this happen!!

Amazing place to watch the premier league matches but this time it was the FA cup semifinal and it was amazing as usually with high rise chairs , good portion of chips and 2 pint of san miguel did the trick for us.

We Come here whenever me and my partner visit his mum in Guildford. Got served nearly all our drinks by Tia and Ollie and as a worker in a pub aswell I know how stressful a busy Friday night can be but these two were such wonderful workers. We were out for our anniversary and they honestly have been the ABSOLUTE BEST serves I’ve ever met. Thank you guys for your service tonight ! Definitely will come back if these two are working !

I've been going here for a few years and this needs to happen for this place to really excel, because it can, has lots of potential but is lacking in certain areas: - When there's football/Rugby on, OMG please add extra staff - Food wise I dunno really, very hit and miss - Men's toilets to the right of the main bar, THE MOLD HAS MOLD, sort it out, rip it out, I don't care. But that stuff isn't healthy regardless of how long you are staying in there for!!!! - Water and mold damage to the walls and ceilings needs sorting out, no excuse. - Also goes for some of the furnishings, the backs of the main seating areas are practically ripped/cut and its not pleasant to feel bare sponge while enjoying a beer. - I'd love top see some NFL/Super bowl here as well

Had a lovely lunch, delightful staff Claire and Matt were so friendly and helpful. Food was very nice and excellent prices. We will be going back very soon.

I ordered 2 portions of chips and chicken goujons for my child and 17 year old, I was told they would both have to be adult sizes I was charged €42 for both, extremely over priced for the size of the portions

Best pub in Guildford. Go here every Friday possible a Thursday as well. Never disappoints good pints, decent food and the bar staff know my order what more can you want? Honestly the best pub in Guildford. If your not coming down your honestly missing out. Kebab next door decent as well.

On the Friday 23rd Feb, night I went, it seemed very short on staff and waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive!!

Hit and miss with the portion sizes. Staff are all very friendly but service is rather slow. But not enough to put you off going there just need to be patient

Really awful management tonight. I witnessed and heard racial abuse towards a young female. The manageress who was not working but was drinking with the culprit seemed to take the side of the offender. Even once I told them what I had heard, the offender was not asked to leave, but continued about his evening. What makes it even worse, is the victim was a member of staff and her manager appeared to do very little to take her side or support her.

Lovely hearty Sunday roast, brilliant service/ lovely staff. Will be back next week!

Waited 20 minutes for service and when mentioning that I have waited a long time and people before me have been served they just said well I don't know the order! when knowing full well I have been waiting a long time and saying it I'm such a manner that makes you feel like a 3rd rate citizen. And the blonde waitress who refused to tell me her name knowing full well I was going to leave a bad review after my experience was so rude and so uncompassionate that I thoroughly believe I have never had such bad customer service in my life, but there was a lovely member of staff she half redeemed this cesspit. The last owners were so much more attentive and much more customer care orientated. However the food was adequate and the atmosphere was good but service leaves a lot to be desired.

The server was so rude, I have never experienced service like this before, in fact I have never felt compelled to make a bad review in my life but it was so bad I felt like I just had to comment, just stay away from here if you want to have a nice relaxing evening after work unless you want to be treated like you are still dealing with the stress at work

Great for the football, good choice of beers but the food is really poor. This is what i would call a football pub so if that's what you are looking for, great but the food whilst cheap is awful.

Went here with my girlfriend expecting a nice relaxed date last night. However food took 45 minutes to arrive. When it did arrive it was cold. If that wasn’t bad enough the food has also caused me and my girlfriend’s stomachs to be in tremendous pain the day after and caused us both to be violently ill!! About everything that could possibly go wrong with the food did go wrong. Absolutely shambolic!!

Have been here many times,we go back because it's cheap,family and dog friendly.just after Christmas there was no toilet roll in the ladies just packs of napkins???why didn't someone walk to coop over the road??I've read rumours that it's to close and is just about ticking over u til greenkingdecide what to do with it. It's always busy. The decor/maintenance is awful with water stained walls,peeling wallpaper and appears to be crumbling.food is hit and miss during last summer we used to take bets on what food we ordered would be in stock because 80-90%of the menu was unavailable.there seem to be new managers every couple of months. What could be a really lovely pub is totally unloved. greenking menu is affordable and the pub is the better of two within walking distance of home with our small children . We have had to send back meals that shouldn't have been served to a dog,let alone a human but we've also had some really good pub meals.agyer we tried to order cocktails off the menu in the last couple of weeks and they didn't have the drinks to make those cocktails

Went to the Wooden bridge for the senior lunch time menu with Mum and Dad , prices very very reasonable and good choices .. but in ordering found only my third choice available.. but staff member came and chatted and apologised for lack of choices and gave reasons hopefully will improve as time goes on , a nice touch and good customer service .. the chicken Diane I had was very tasty , chips were perfectly cooked and pudding included apple crumble and custard tasty .. all for the price if £5.49 .. the staff were very friendly and professional , the tables and facilities were clean .. the building itself a little dated could do with some TLC , reminds you of a working man’s club but for a casual lunch definitely would. Recommend.. my Mum and Dad go there regularly, oh another nice touch give your car reg to bar staff and parking free ..

I have many fond memories of this pub, it was my first local when I moved to Guildford all the way from Australia 25 years ago while I was in my 20's. I worked at one of the companies in the business park across the road so there were many extended lunches spent here with work colleagues, usually with a sneaky pint or two! Last week I returned to Guildford for the first time in 20 years, so I dropped in for a quick beer and to reminisce about old times. It was just as I remembered it. Thanks for all the good memories, Bridge!

We are neighbors of the bar, we really enjoy going to play cards, have dinner with friends or just when you're tired in the evening after work. There are many food options, and some very good deals too. I recommend 💯.

Came in recently and the place was pretty quiet so we had no issue getting served promptly and the food was delicious. We were brought out the meals by the lad who cooked it which was a nice friendly touch. Just moved to the area so will be making it our new local.

Roast dinners were really good and great value for money.

Just left the place 10 minutes ago because of the lady behavior who's take our order at the bar. We never had such a terrible attitude when someone taking our order!

Came here for New Year’s Eve drinks was hoping to get food but not a problem since the kitchen was closed. However the bar staff who served me was extremely rude and unpleasant. I gathered her name was Clare, red hair and glasses. Waited for over 20 min for a drink and some crisps and when I went to investigate where my order had gone I was told rudely by her that she was very busy and diddnt have time to make the app orders. Being on her phone was obviously more important to her than customer service. It seemed to be a common issue as other customers i spoke to also commented on her attitude and poor service. I used to enjoy going to this establishment but unfortunately I won’t be returning as I have been well and truly put off by the experience.

Don’t know if the bar lady was having a bad day or not but there’s no need to speak to customers the way she did whatever excuse. Beyond rude. Middle aged woman, Red hair with glasses.

Visited today for a late lunch. Awful service from bar staff. We weren’t served the drinks we ordered through the app. When I went to the bar to collect them instead, I was ignored by bar staff to begin with. When I was eventually served, I received possibly the worst service I’ve ever had. Complete rudeness by the woman behind the bar. No customer service, rude remarks, sarcastic tone and no manners. Horrible atmosphere in the pub. I wouldn’t bother going back.

Went to visit this pub on Christmas Eve as it’s my local and have never been before. I was waiting at the bar for 5 minutes whilst staff members wondered around, didn’t acknowledge me and talked to their friends/ groups of lads and so I decided to leave and head into town. Literally the worst pub atmosphere I’ve ever experienced, awful place 😑

Sorry to say this but the experience was very very unpleasant over 3 hours to get all courses and to add insult to injury the toilets were out of order male and female and no loo paper and the mens toilets stank so I had to use the disabled toilet so well done wooden bridge!!! 😡😨

Tried to give this pub a second chance but what a disaster! No 'all day' roasts left at 2pm, signs on bar saying they were short of certain foods (again!!), not many eating in pub but we waited over one hour for 2 meals, we asked for refund and went to Greggs. Such a shame few years back it was a good pub but it has gone right down hill.
