The best restaurants serving Default food in Castle Lancaster North West

Discovered this little gem just before Christmas, have been a couple of times since. Great selection of drinks, especially Dortmunder, haven't eaten there yet but plan to soon!

We stayed over as a package and couldn't fault a thing. The room was beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff were all friendly and welcoming

Traditional old pub real ale time to light the fire.

Quiet little pseudos corner: sandals , notebooks, scribbling, armpit hair, yesterdays Guardian, roll ups. Top place really. Croissant served without butter (a sin in my book), coffee cup really well worn in. Nobody smoking Gauloises outside. Now that would have been great.

Visited on a Sunday for my partners birthday celebrations whilst staying in Lancaster. Excellent friendly service by everyone and one of the best Sunday roast dinners we've had in a long time! We also stayed for the pub quiz afterwards, which was great fun with a friendly quiz host, and we didn't come last 🙂 Our first visit to Lancaster and, therefore, to Merchants 1688, but we will be returning to both! Whole heartedly recommend a trip here for a meal. Thanks.

Wow this place is amazing!! The staff are so warm and welcoming and helped us choose our food which was SO delicious. The restaurant is beautiful and the tea and mojitos were gorgeous too! I can’t wait to go back!

Some of the worst chips I've had at least fish was passable

Excellent pizza wether you like the thicker style or the thin crust they're both great, and you can tell they use quality ingredients. Great customer service also

Not been here for probably 20 years. Very busy. Live music on the Saturday we went in.

We kind of stumbled across Wagon and Horses quite by chance; it’s not the easiest place to find. BUT…we are sooooo glad we did. The first thing we liked was the cozy interior and the lovely welcoming staff. The place has a real nice feeling about it. It’s a cross between a pub and a restaurant. The decor is lovely (and the loos are spotless, and that’s important as it says a lot about a place). I mentioned the staff are welcoming. They are attentive and interested in you. And I don’t believe it’s put on. They genuinely want to offer excellent customer service, and they achieve this. The food was excellent (excellent)! My wife is a bit of a lasagne connoisseur and she scored it a 10/10, so that says a lot. I had a pork tomahawk with mash and a lovely apple sauce and I scored it a 12/10 😅. No, the Wagon and Horses is really lovely so I encourage you to check it out. We’re looking forward to coming again soon.

Costa Coffee at Lancaster train station is a good place to wait for your journey.
