At the edge of the river, the George and Dragon stood resolute, welcoming all with its worn sign and warmth like a seasoned friend. Dragonfest 2 unfolded within its embrace, a celebration of sound and colour amid the flickering lights of the evening. The bands performed with raw energy, their music flowing like the river that lapped against the quay. Each note filled the air with a fervour, irresistible and alive. The cocktails glimmered in their glass prisons, each one a promise of delight that did not shy from its duty. We found ourselves captivated by the fire eater, a wild figure who danced with flames. It was bold, almost brash, the way she summoned fire and played with danger. With an uncanny grin, she gave fellatio to the blazing poles, an act that should have been absurd yet felt right in the revelry of the night. The crowd gasped, laughed, and cheered, united in an adrenaline-soaked moment of shared madness. It was the sort of spectacle that would linger in the mind like smoke in the air long after the flames had died down. In the midst of this chaos, I ordered the Dragon fries, a concoction that reflected the spirit of the fest itself. They arrived steaming and heaped high, smothered in a rich chili con carne and scattered with daring chili peppers, their heat mingling with the lingering joy of the night. Each bite was a calculated risk and each mouthful tasted of indulgence—the perfect companion to the music that throbbed through the air. The fries added a grounding essence to the wildness around me, a reminder that even amid the extraordinary, one must savour the simplest pleasures. As the stars emerged above, the night drew long and memories were forged in laughter and song. Five stars are too few for the experience at the George and Dragon's Dragonfest 2. The bands played on, the cocktails refreshed, and amidst the swirling fire and music, we were all momentarily set free. In that splendid disarray, we were reminded of the buoyancy of life, of living boldly and embracing whatever strange joys the night may offer.

The George and Dragon hosted the wonderful Mad Hunter restaurant pop up on our recent visit. It was such a delight to offer the Quay community and beyond a chance to try something different. Absolutely blown away from start to finish with how wonderful the experience was. Amazing food. Amazing staff. Amazing landlord. This has all been brought to us on our Lancaster doorsteps. The Mad Hunter was a Brilliant culinary experience and all credit to the team. The George and Dragon needs recognition for the fact they have created a warm, friendly and inviting pub experience with the added bonus of a landlord who keeps thinking outside the box of pub life and offering the customers a completely new experience 😀

We went for the Quayfest sat at a table next to a table reserved for Nigel for at 7pm . This was 6.30 at 7.45 our 6 friends arrived , We moved onto Nigels table + our friends sat at our table the pub was packed all having a great time. At 8.30 the landlord told us to move as 2 people who said they were with Nigel wanted their table . We were furious as how can a table be reserved for 2 hours. Nigel wasn't their turns out he was working till 9pm , it would be 9.30 before he arrived. The landlord shouted stop the music put on all the lights + shouted no more music until these people leave . The whole pub watched us pack up to leave we were so embarrassed + upset He was more Basil Fawlty than a genial host We hellraisers are me aged 70, my husband 71+my sister 67. We had spent a lot of money there . The landlord did catchup with us outside + said he apologised + gave my husband a bottle of wine. This was too late + not in front of the people in the pub or the entertainer who had been stopped in his act.

We all enjoyed the retro games and my daughter has discovered a love of pool. We decided to order some pizza, chicken baskets and sides. What a treat for me as they had a delicious vegan pizza. The rest of the family enjoyed southern fried chicken, meat feast pizzas and onion rings. All served by delightful staff in a calm and cozy pub. Thank you! We will absolutely return ASAP.

On a four day break in Lancaster my twin brother Stephen and I visited most every pub in this beautiful town, one that stood out was The George & Dragon Pub. This is an old and historic pub,the interior is superb, very traditional, an eye catching serving bar dominates the main room nice dark wood features, pubby decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its just a really good pub to chill out in. We were here on a freezing cold and rainy night, the pub was warm as was the welcome, we had a study of their real ale's and we both opted to have Jennings Brewery Cumberland ale, these were served in pristine condition, we kicked back, chilled out, warmed up while sipping our ale's. My ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced pale ale style ale ,hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish to it, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew. We both really enjoyed our ale's in this splendid pub before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to The George & Dragon Pub we had a great time. The George & Dragon Pub is easy to locate along St George's Quay along the River Lune riverfront. Opening hours are; Monday, 6pm till 10pm. Tuesday to Thursday, 5pm till 11pm. Friday, 4pm till 11pm. Saturday, 1pm till 11pm. Sunday, 5pm till 11pm. A great pub,one I highly recommend you visit if you're in the area.

On first appearances this is a small, friendly pub focussing on wet sales. However, scratch beneath the surface and a whole gastronomic extravaganza reveals itself for the discerning customer.Through word of mouth news of The George and Dragon’s signature dishes have spread. Those in the know typically go for the tapas/ploughman’s lunch/chocolate dessert offering. I shall break these down in turn; The tapas options are exquisite wide ranging and keenly priced. There is no definitive tapas menu per se, but if you ask the bar staff to serve a range of tapas up to a price point they will be more than obliging and service is guaranteed to come with a friendly smile. Vegetarian options are available, with the chilli nuts being a highlight to complement a fine ale with, however the meaty selection incorporates all manner of pig based offerings cooked to perfection. The Ploughman’s Lunch represents the perfect main course and is extremely consistent in quality - my personal favourite touch is that they always give you exactly 3 onions - not a single one more, or a single one less. Whoever is working, the quality and consistency is exactly the same. Finally, dessert - locals affectionately refer to the selection as ‘the bag of love’ - the landlord rummages in a pot luck bag of chocolatey delights before producing a tasty treat to enjoy.10/10

Friendly owner that is very helpful, makes you feel very welcome. Wines on offer from what I could see was red and white and echo falls and hardys as the brand. Small selection of beers and ales on tap and in the fridge. Not a big collection of spirits but the popular brands so you can easily get a drink. No food served so its a place to chill out with a drink. Two prosecco at £11.00 - 200ml bottles Nice prosecco as well so not a bad price Pub is dog friendly so man's best friend is welcome.

The George & Dragon is a traditional pub in Lancaster, a stone's throw from the Maritime Museum (and next to the similar, but more stylishly decorated Wagon and Horses, also a Robinson's venue). The pub offers six real ales on tap (five were available when I dropped in), but the selection is woefully conventional, so I passed. The décor is fairly appealing in a waterhole kind of way (dark wood), and there is frequent live music. On the whole though - even given the city's fairly limited number of interesting pubs, the George & Dragon doesn't stand out in any way. If you want real ales in Lancaster, better head to either Merchants 1688, The Three Mariners, The Water Witch or The White Cross - all superior, more appealing pubs.
