Sorry but not good, infact my partner I got up and walked out , can't comment on the food .. but won't be going back Reason, long waiting time due to 1 person being on front desk Staff that were doing the carving had no uniform ie hat , smocks and looked untidy After being seated I the had to return to the front desk to get a couple of tickets and pay for the food .. not a problem but after standing there for over 15 minutes I had had enough... also the place needs a serious make over , it looks like a 80s Pontins restaurant .. sorry

Really wonderful staff, James the host was very attentive, and every other servers were working so hard to keep on top of empty plates and keeping the place clean. The food was amazing with the FOH chef explaining everything to me and giving me recommendations. The food was also excellent, one of the best carvery’s I’ve had. The garden peas were very hard and chips werent much better Not one of us ate it ,we complained the head person came to see us and apologised ,he said " we haven't been able to get haddock for weeks and he wouldn't eat anything but haddock himself " he commented "I will talk to the chef when the Caffè closes and slap his legs " he offered us a cup of tea or a scoop of ice cream each , we declined his offer, came out as hungry as we went in , very disappointed,

Used to love this place, but wasn’t impressed today. Bought kids sandwich boxes, some had Frube yoghurts, some Ann Foreshaw yoghurts causing arguments. None of the sandwich boxes came with crisps as stated, on asking they only had Wotsits (no other options and mine don’t like cheesy crisp- odd option to choose if only buying in one flavour). White bread thin felt like asda smart price bread. Soup was OK. Turkey and Cranberry Sandwich was dry and cheap bread again. Will try it again- hopefully an off day!?

Countrystyle Meats is situated on Lancaster Leisure Park to the south of the city next to Lancaster Brewery. The shop is a farm style shop with a local butcher and green grocer specialising in local or fair trade foods and goods as well as showcasing other local businesses such as bakers and ice cream makers. The prices are higher than the local supermarket but the quality of food is significantly higher resulting in a generally better and more budget friendly experience. Take for instance the homemade burgers. Although the price of a pack of two (or four if a budget brand) of burger from the supermarket there is little to no shrinkage while cooking resuilting in an end product two to three times the size of its budget counterpart with 100% meat and no injected water or rusk. So the final product is the same to greater value. That aside there are often butcher's specials and shop bargains that bring prices down and the staff are helpful and supportive. We buy almost all of our meats and local supplies here.

Grim. We were looking forward to visiting as we haven't been in in years. The food used to be brilliant with a great menu. Now it's very limited. No waitress service -you have to order your food at the very busy front desk. Full disclosure...I really dislike carvery. We wanted a Sunday roast so we had no choice. Overcooked food, slopped on a plate, having to queue like you're in a works canteen. I get that they are probably appealing to their target market, and it certainly seemed to work as it was heaving. But it's not for us, especially as it isn't that cheap. The service used to be great with some really good specials available. The staff also used to be really friendly If you like large quantities of sloppy food, then this is the place for you. For me, it's a hard pass from now on.

Visited this cafe on the way back from visiting friends on Sunday and we have been here before but don’t remember it being this big!! It was packed which is always a good sign, the lady at the desk asked if anyone had a booking and got them in first then came to us that had not (good system going on) she was very bubbly and smiling like she wanted to be there! When we got to the front of the queue, another lady was paying and made it very clear to this girl that she wasn’t paying for her soda as it should have been free , the lady Calmly stated that they don’t use post Mix and it’s out of a bottle ( I would have told her to get stuffed, you had it, you pay for it simple) the lady just took it off the bill and stated that it’s okay! After she left I did say how well she handled it, why do people come out if they have to say things like that , she is only doing her job, why can’t people understand it must be hard to keep so smiling and bubbly after something like that! Anyway we had cavery, it’s to die for!! I wish they would teach me how to make them yorkies! Went to pay and some grumpy lady behind a counter making tea that stated you do pay here which wasn’t helpful but i followed everyone else and payed, excellent value for money £8.95 for 1 cavery with 4 meats! The lady then took our payment and gave us a card so we can book next time. Which I said it must be your Sunday job this( as she was taking my money) she replied with , it’s my full time job haha, so I do apologise for this as she looks so young. I think her name was Tate or Kate, or something similar, I look forward to my next visit.

Bethany c clearly doesn’t enjoy her job as I’ve seen happier people suffering from depression. Food was ok after a 30 minute wait. £50 for a light lunch with hungry grumpy kids. Tea was bought 10 minutes after other drinks and my daughter had to wait 30 minutes for her drink and then they came back twice because the didn’t have the crisps she wanted. Daughter’s juice came with her kids meal once we had had ours. Have to say the other staff that we interacted with were great. We have no idea if the food is good, bad or indifferent because we didn’t succeed in ordering any. When we arrived, there were three wait staff, clearly busy as the cafe was full. We waited at the entrance for several minutes, ignored by the staff. Eventually we went up to one person and asked if we could sit down at an empty table. No, we couldn’t as that one was reserved. We were told we could sit at another table, if we could sort ourselves out with the babies. No help with high chairs but the cafe has some, which we found. Then we sat. And waited. A couple arrived after us, then a large family - all greeted and taken to seats. After ten minutes the waitress appeared, took the order from the couple, then manoeuvred past our table to take the family’s order. She ignored our table - when we asked her if we might be able to order she grinned, made no attempt to say sorry, said she’d be with us in a minute and laughed when one of the family group made a derogatory comment. So we left.We won’t come back, but the food on other tables looked good and the cafe was full, so if you are able to get served it is probably worth a try.

On holiday for a few days in Morecambe in early December. On Sunday morning we walked to Heysham along the front.  We stopped off here for a drink. Mixture of tourists and locals. Very popular, a constant stream of people. Good value. We just had a hot drink. We were full after our hotel breakfast but on seeing the homemade baking I bought a piece of Bakewell tart and some mince pies to takeaway. Everything looked great. Many people left with a little bag of food. There were some good cooked breakfasts being eaten. Next time we're in Heysham we'll come for a lunch as plenty of choice and quite reasonable. I would highly recommend to any visitor.

I attended our annual Christmas celebration here. The food, staff and service were excellent. The table looked very festive with candles, crackers and decorations. We were made to feel very welcome. I would recommend The White Cross as a perfect venue for a Christmas celebration.

I love this place especially your crispy cake slices. But your hot chocolate today was not good. Didn't complain as haven't got the time but far too much cream and marshmallows in hit chocolate so there felt like no hot chocolate to drink and what was there was not hot. Go easy on cream !

I have been a number of times and really the food is the best of any cafe in Lancaster and Morecambe bar perhaps the Whaletail. The cakes and soup are always especially outstanding. A definite winner of a place
