I have heard some rather good reviews about the F&H so was eager to try one of their famous Roast Dinners. I booked online for me & my partner to have a date day. Beautiful establishment, gorgeous pud garden & also great for children. We were seated on a table that was directly opposite the pub garden, with lots of light from the sky light. When we were seated we were offered water for the table, we opted for tap water which was quickly brought out. I ordered a pint of Coke & my partner ordered a cider. We quickly ordered our mains as we didn’t fancy anything from the starters menu. I went for Roast Lamb & my partner ordered Roast Beef. We made sure we didn’t have anything to eat that day to make room for the Roast. Before our manis were brought out we were given homemade mint sauce & horseradish sauce for the table. Then our mains were brought out, plated effortlessly with a Yorkshire Pudding, selected meat, carrot & swede puree & cabbage greens, with gravy/jus. In a separate bowls, we were given our Roast Potatoes & Cauliflower Cheese. We also requested a small jug of gravy at an additional cost. The Roast Lamb was the BEST Roast Lamb I have ever tasted, accompanied by the homemade mint sauce which had a hint of sweetness. The trimmings were just as good. Be prepared for extra crispy Roast Potatoes with a soft inside. A little crispy than I like but that would be my only grumble. My partner ordered Roast also enjoyed his Roast Beef. I opted for a pudding & chose the Blackberry Steamed Pudding with Custard. I didn’t have to wait too long for this to be served to me. The pudding was gorgeous but the custard was a little too thin for me. We will definitely return for another gorgeous Roast Dinner!!

We went for lunch on my partner's birthday and from the welcome we received when we walked in, to the friendly goodbye when we left, everything was fantastic. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, and excellent value for money. My new favourite pub.

We were just out for a drive and thought we would stop here for a sandwich or something. Turns out they have a full lunch menu which looked good. I went with Hake in a pepper and tomato sauce, my wife had a steak with blue cheese on a flatbread. I’m a big fish lover but wasn’t expecting too much from a little place in Royston ! How wrong I was, the Hake was cooked to perfection and the sauce absolutely delicious with some new potatoes this was a really nice and unexpected lunch. My wife’s steak was also brilliant apparently. This was a very hot day and we sat at an outside table with shade with a lovely view over the Heath. A hidden little gem that is well worth a visit.
