Great food, always a lot of flavour and big portions too. The ambience inside the restaurant is lovely. We have been to twice now and would come back, the service is absolutely fantastic too!

2nd time coming in the last few months and enjoyed tasty food, they catered for a 7 year old with specific requests, great service, attentive and looked after us well.

Food is amazing here, a really great selection of chefs specials as well as the usual offerings. Highly recommend going for the chefs specials! Really enjoyed our mains, sides and starters and were kindly also offered a complimentary mint ice cream dessert which was also fabulous. The service is impeccable and very friendly. A really nice property as well so a nice environment to eat in. Cannot recommend the Spice Cabinet enough and will definitely be going back despite living half an hour away!

Being punjabi and use to eating Indian food this food was terrible. Food tastes of garlic and overloaded with Chilli no subtle spice flavours, very oily, couldn't really enjoy food due to being so chilly. Seekh kebab didn't taste of lamb not sure what it was. OK if you like vindaloo and just like sweating. Think I will stick to my local lounge India. I think the 4 reviews may not be genuine

Well worth the drive, would recommend you try this place as new owner fantastic and accommodating. Food is sublime and so tasty I’ve not had saag paneer so delicious like this, most other places do it just the Same old same old, but spice cabinet puts their unique twist on it. Can’t wait to go back.

Best dining experience ever! New Management is absolutely amazing, they take care of you as you were their own. Probably the best Indian food I have ever tried. Recommend the chicken curry, succulent, flavoursome and mouthwatering. You’d be a fool to miss out on such culinary experience. I travel the UK to test out many restaurants, but this one in particular has a unique ambiance about it which makes it special.

We decided to eat in today with the kids. What an amazing experience! The staff were so welcoming and the food was so tasty. One of the kids decided to order off menu to our surprise was accommodated... if you have a chicken nugget eating 6 year old rest assured spice cabinet can cater for you! Such a great experience! Thank you to the staff! They even allowed our 6 year old to role play as a waiter and take orders!

The New management are so chill and welcoming. I thank the stars I drove past it (that’s how I found it). Went in and immediately felt welcomed. Place is clean smells nice and overall dining atmosphere is truly unique in the most special way. The building has an old school feel but is truly a gem. I hear there are external issues with the previous management but the new management are a breath of fresh air. Food, better than Sona restaurant. Great pricing. Easily accessible parking spaces. Staff are very nice and friendly. The tandoori chicken, don’t know how they make it but it is majestically tasty.

In the middle of nowhere, this converted barn / cottage is well worth the drive. Good food and service well priced.

Have used Spice Cabinet for deliveries in the past and the food has been pretty good. This time we ordered using our existing account and were phoned by the restaurant to say that they were busy and our food would be delayed 20 minutes. Later still, and getting hungry, we get a call from the delivery driver to ask why we aren't answering our door. It transpired that he was 10 miles away at a different address that had been substituted for ours in their app for some reason. Obviously it took some time for him to drive our food back to our house, by which time it was an hour overdue. To add insult to injury the driver then wanted to charge us more for sending him to the wrong address and wouldn't accept it was a fault with their system. Clearly I wasn't going to pay extra for lukewarm food and we parted acrimoniously. There were some dishes that were absent, replaced by others that we hadn't ordered. All in all a shambles that I'm not in a hurry to repeat.

When we come over to visit our son, we like a curry night in with a film, so haven't sat in to eat here (yet!) but the restaurant always looks beautiful. We've had 2 absolutely amazing take-aways from here. Really good food and the menu is wide ranging with new dishes to try, away from the usuals. In fairness, it's not the cheapest, but you absolutely do get what you pay for. The staff have been welcoming and helpful...and I know a take-away from here is going to become a visit tradition! Well done Spice Cabinet.... really first class food.

We have just had a absolutely fantastic meal at Spice Cabinet. The food was delish, hot and abundant. Staff were very welcoming, smiley and attentive. Cute cottage style restaurant in a peaceful location. The decor being modern, extremely clean with ambient background music and lighting. We are looking forward to returning there very soon. We’ve ordered from The Spice Cabinet more times then I wish to admit since moving to Buntingford. It has always been delicious, well priced and the service is really great. They don’t even charge a delivery fee to deliver. We mainly order a take out but the restaurant is lovely and in a nice location, with limited parking + on road unrestricted parking. They cater to diary free in which you can hardly taste the difference. Best Indians food around is The Spice Cabinet 100%.

Loved it! Beautiful location, welcoming staff, lovely decor and a superb meal. Menu was interesting and for me the best surprise was that the menu featured salads! Never seen that before in an Indian restaurant! I had a traditional Bangladeshi salad with tangy dressing and salmon tikka on the side. It was just great. My husband was equally impressed with his meal and we shall be returning very soon.

Amazing food! We had the chicken tikka masala and chicken balti. Best indian we've had, beats anything from Saffron Walden, Royston and Bishops Stortford. To also add its a lovely quaint location. The staff are really pleasant too. Will definitely order again.

Great food in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. One of the best Indian meals I've had in a long time. Lovely location in the countryside, great choice on the menu all very reasonably priced. And the owner is extremely friendly and clearly set on ensuring you have the best time. Definitely be returning again soon... highly recommend.

We went with friends to our favourite curry house and was even more impressed. They now have an executive menu and all the different flavours and presentation was amazing.

Staying at the swan inn in hare street, decided to order this and it was great. Wish we had a indian like this back home.

A very pleasant evening at this latest transformation of the Cabinet. The food was excellent and the service pretty good. The room was very noisy, with a hard floor and quite loud music, which made it hard for some of the group to share in the conversation. But we paid a fairly reasonable £30 per head including drinks. No starters or desserts, but we did have coffee. So not too expensive.

Amazingly delicious food, service is 5 star and the atmosphere within spice cabinet is lovely. The flavours are just amazing. Meats are fresh & tender, full of flavours. The size of dishes are also very generous. They also have a bar with a whole range of drinks from spirits, beers and soft drinks. I 100% recommend this to anyone who likes the asian cuisine! All meats are halal. Card/Cash payments are also accepted at Spice cabinet. Prices are justifiable.

The Spice Cabinet in Reed Hertfordshire is one of the best Indian restaurants in the area both me and friends and family often visit we always get a warm welcome the owner and staff are amazing and the food choice is extra special lots of choice and if its not on the menu they will still cook it for you if they can .it has a modern vibe very clean and a great all round feel good ambiance If your looking for somewhere special for a birthday or good night out this is the place for you please keep up the good work il be seeing you very soon

I travel from Epping to use this restaurant as the food is so good. Have known the proprietor for a number of years now and both him and his staff are very polite, helpful and knowledgeable about the food they serve. They always try and make things slightly different from other asian restaurants and the little things they do complement the dishes exceptionally well. If there's something that you particularly want and it's not on the menu, they will always make it for you. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and takeaway as it is almost an hours journey from where I live. Keep up the good work!

Guys. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. I drive out to the Spice Cabinet most weeks. Past at least four other great Indian restaurants. Because it really really is a cut above. The food is better sourced. Cooked with more care and attention and the service is polite, attentive and friendly. My favourite is a tandoori mixed grill which the guys spice up for me. Not just heat but a lovely blend of flavours too. I can walk to too great Indians. But I drive for 30 mins to the spice cabinet. Because once you’ve had the cream the milk doesn’t taste as good.

Second time of late ordered a take away, late again, no salad with tikka starter, Bombay potato just plain boiled potatoes, no flavour in main dishes, bread not cooked , not gonna order from than again awful

Always had wonderful food from Spice Cabinet but tonight it was not up to the usual standard. Really greasy,soggy bahjis, watery masala and they didn't send my peshwari, so no bread for my curry. Really dissatisfied and disappointed. We waited nearly 2hrs and don't normally mind because the food is good. Will think twice next time! Quality has slipped.😔

Ordered food from here at the start of October 2021 and I couldn't fault it, it was amazing (for a British takeaway). However we ordered the same dishes here toward the end of the same month and it was overly greasy, tasted very different (like it had been spiced with pickle? Very odd for a garlic chili lamb) and I got food poisoning shortly after. Very disappointed as this almost became our regular go to place.

Ordered takeaway a couple of times now after being recommended by friends. Wow! Really great, tasty food and really great service. They happily handled our allergies and delivered the food bang on when they said (1 hour). This is definitely our new go-to for a really nice Indian - sorry Royston Tandoori!

So nice to have somewhere local to go and have a lovely meal curry with a fantastic difference Very pleasant. Staff friendly willing to explain various dishes on menu. Nice outside space to have pre meal drink. On the list of regular visits. Also take out are available.

Have ordered from here a few times. Has always been quite a lot later than expected. Most recently, it was over an hour late. They gave us a drink on the house, but I think an hour waiting on something that had a lead time of 25 minutes was pretty poor. This has happened to others I know too. So if you want to eat here, go in for a meal so they don't waste your evening.

We enjoy a great take away last evening. Food arrived promptly by a very polite delivery driver. Food was delicious. Meat Samosas, King Prawn Butterfly, Lentil Fritters. Tandoori Mixed Grill, Chicken Tikka & Pilau Rice, Bombay Aloo. Looking forward to sampling more of their lovely food.

I live in Puckeridge and Spice Cabinet is by far the nicest Indian local to me. I’ve only had take away s so far due to pandemic lockdowns but the quality of food delivered is always at a high standard. Really looking forward to dining in soon!

Spice Cabinet is a tale of two stories. You either have a good experience or terrible. The food is good enough, but the management is appalling. If anything goes wrong for your order don't expect any kind of service from management, namely Abdul. We pre ordered for NYE delivery where the payment was taken prior to delivery. The payment was taken and Abdul was on the ball with taking the order, however, when the order was almost 3 hours late he took no interest in returning calls or dealing with the issue. Many households were entirely let down with little to no remorse shown. The order had missing items which we paid for but never received, and even the items we received were incorrect and cold. I have tried to resolve locally with Spice Cabinet but a week later they have failed to return promised calls and even after providing my bank details they have failed to provide a refund even on the services and items that were not provided. I note that they are open and taking orders yet still will not resolve problems where they have got it wrong. Just be aware it appears the food is good but the lack of customer care when issues go wrong is appalling. Note other similar reviews of this nature. I have commenced small claims against the restaurant for items they failed to deliver, yet took payment from me.

Food was cold chicken green and supposed to be extremely hot but my wife's dansak was hotter then mine not very impressed been eating curry's for 30+ years at least once a week.can honestly say it was the worst one I've eaten. Will be going back to my favourite curry house mughal kitchen in Royston.stick to what you know. Thought I'll try something different but was waste off money will not recommend to any one

Thought we’d give this place a try after hearing positive local reviews. Have to say it was the most oil I’ve ever seen in a takeaway. Had literally dripped over the car, the kitchen, etc. Food lacked flavour, not a good experience at all. I don’t believe in second chances with food places when you are paying, so won’t be back I’m afraid. Good luck!

Absolutely appauling! Avoid this place! We have ordered our food at 5.30pm and it hasn’t arrived until 8.15pm. It was supposed to be with us at 6.37pm, I then got a message saying that the food will be delayed by 30 minutes. We have waited until 7.10pm and it still wasn’t here, they said it would be leaving the restaurant within the next 5 minutes, we had waited for further 20 minutes and the food hasn’t even left! When it finally arrived, it was freezing cold! We have paid £65 and chicken tikka, sagaloo and chicken curry were missing! We have phoned them and get didn’t even want to rectify their mistakes and send the rest back. Waiting for our refund! It was our first and last time, NEVER AGAIN! Don’t go there!

Really disappointed with the service. Ordered our food by phone not the app at 17:20 for a 19:15 delivery slot, it is now 20:34 and we have chased twice once at 19:45 and again at 20:20 only to be told both times it will be with us in a few minutes. Won"t be ordering from here again- it is now 20:46 and still not arrived. I don't mind if there was an error with the order but be honest with us, stop telling me its on its way. After I called the first time I couldn't get through anymore it kept going to answerphone so used my partners phone and was answered immediately. I am now going to drive up there and request a refund - am fuming its ruined our evening my husband has worked a 12 hour day and we are starving - this us the 2nd time this has happened there won't be a 3rd. If you can't deliver then don't take the order.

Definitely a 5*. Best meal & service ive had in a long time. Beautiful food, not your run of the mill food. Very attentive staff but not to much. Best of all they do delivery and pick up service too.

I was recommended this Indian for a take away, so I gave it agonising they online ordering and I collected it. For starter we had the lamb chops and king prawn purée. The lamb chops had no meat on them at all, I had one mouthful off each, the prawn had no flavour, really bland And just full of onion. For main we had the chicken Tikka Masala, which tasted like something you get out of the ready meal counter at Tesco and was so watery. Just awful. We ordered two garlic nans and were given two chilli nans. We had a side of sag paneer, which again was so watery, with no flavour and just resembled something a baby brings up. Would not recommend at all. We are food lovers And I really don’t get how people love this Indian, I can recommend so many other Indians in the area that can give you food 100% better than this place and at a more reasonable price.

Lovely ambience, only criticism chicken shaslik and chicken tikka, needs to be served up sizzling on a hot plate.

The food is absolutely delicious, and there’s a great selection of vegetarian food. The only downside is that on two occasions our delivery has been late by at least half an hour to forty minutes, which is such a disappointment. One of these occasions was on a weekday night which we assume is less busy.

This illegal takeaway has been set up in a residential property with no licensing or food safety certification, in a property converted from a commercial property without permission. Please don’t purchase from this owner.

First time of using. Nice app, and easy to place order for a delivery. However, app didn’t allow me to select delivery time, and allocated one which was too early. I called Spice Cabinet in the morning of the day of delivery and agreed 6:45-7:00pm. At 7:20 was still waiting, so called again. They thought I had said 7:45, and said food would be with me in 25 minutes. At 8:00pm it arrived. Food was excellent, but sag aloo had no sag in it. Would I use them again? Yes, they deserve a second chance.

A beautifully decorated Indian restaurant with delicious food. The menu has all your favourite Indian dishes and some unusual things to try, which you won’t regret! The staff are welcoming and always happy to recommend something to your taste! I can’t wait to go back

Excellent food, even better service. I visited the spice cabinet for the first time recently and loved it. The food is fantastic and the menu caters to all with a wide range classic currys and specialist dishes. Everything my family and I had was delicious. The service was also incredible from start to finish. The food and service combine to create a great atmosphere. Overall brilliant experience.

Abdul and his team have done a fantastic job during difficult times creating a fabulously cosy restaurant and bar offering the most tasty curries around. Add in a friendly and welcoming host which makes for a wonderful night out.

We liked the smart online ordering and rapid delivery, much faster than promised on the website. The Paneer & Aubergine Shaslic impressed and generally the food seemed quite home style and authentic. We didn't like the overall quality for the price however with the curry lacking punch and subtlety and the Kesari Malay Tikka a disappointment. Good not great.

Hi, used this place twice now First time food was quite good, had better but have had a lot worse. Orderd again last night and felt very disappointed it was only a meal for one and they got the rice wrong but worst of all my beef kali bhuna had only one piece of beef the rest was 100% bone and some fat not good enough considering its expensive as well. I'll go somewhere else next time

Thought we would give this place a try. Never going back!! Dishes were very oily, tarka dall was tasteless but overpowering with garlic, chicken dansak was overloaded with chilli & the chicken tikka was like rubber. We have just wasted £50 as it's gone in the bin!!. Should have stuck to Lounge India where every dish is perfectly flavoured and not overpowered with garlic & chilli.

Excellent food, very fragrant and amazing flavours. However a few negatives, quite expensive compared to other curry houses and the mixed kebab grill was very measley and they missed the prawns. However I would recommend.

Fantastic food, certainly the best curry we've had in a long while. Interesting menu, lovely bar and restaurant and when I collected my takeaway the hosts were very welcoming. Highly recommend!

Our dining club visited this restaurant last year and was disappointed in both the service and the food. They did not seem to understand that bread is served before or with the starter. We had to ask for it! The main meal I had was a Steak described as roasted in the oven - it arrived with shavings of cold parmeson cheese on it! Now that was a first! It was overcooked and not very good. Shame as we were looking for a new base for our club - so thumbs down. Wine selection was poor and the staff seemed preoccupied with each other than the customers. Party of 3 all gave thumbs down!

I dined at the cabinet today on the back terrace voted last year in the times for being in the top twenty al fresco dining places and they were not wrong I had baked duck egg with smoked salmon and wild garlic my friend had Brie and smoked bacon salad we both had roasted seabass with olives and tomatoes finished with an apple and rhubarb crepe and jam suet with custard and the chef has great legs in his kilt yummy all round well recommended if you need someware to lunch go to the cabinet
