Another fabulous meal at eight last night for Moroccan supper club. The food was absolutely delicious, the wine was paired perfectly, and the service is just second to none. Tom Marta and Daisy are just fantastic at looking after everyone and nothing is too much trouble they simply make the restaurant a wonderful place to be. And the food well is is just amazing! Can’t recommend enough thank you to everyone at eight for another great night

Family brunch, we all chose different meals and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had to order more of the truffle and Parmesan chips because they were so delicious. Top quality food, atmosphere and staff!

A large group of us went to a Spanish supper evening with paired wines. The food was absolutely delicious and plenty for all, each course came with a generous glass of wine thoughtfully paired by the Eight team and wine expert James. We had each course and wine introduced. The team at eight are always so welcoming and friendly we can’t wait to return for the next supper club. Thank you

Love this gem in Baldock. Me and my boyfriend went without a reservation to sit at the bar. There were two selfish people sat at a table of four with their jackets on the spare two seats. The waitress asked if they could seat us without a reservation would we like that. In no time we were at a table. We enjoyed some amazing cocktails and light bites. One cocktail was off menu. When I asked for it, it was made without question. My boyfriend asked if they made bruschetta but was told it’s not on the menu but I’m sure we can make something for you. They did exactly that and it was yummy. Third time I’ve been here and it’s the third time I’ve been impressed.

My partner and I ate at Eight. for the first time last night and absolutely loved it! It’s a beautiful, cosy and intimate venue, with the most delicious food complimented by the most polite happy and attentive staff. We were served by Rosie who had the most amazing energy about her (a real credit to the restaurant) and provided nothing short of a seamless service. We will definitely be returning soon and would highly recommend. Thanks for the brilliant evening.

Went to the Themed Wine Dinner night. We were served a delicious 4 course accompanied with fantastic wines and champagne to match each course. A really good quality and standard of food, drink and great atmosphere. Can’t wait for the Spanish themed night. Really enjoyed the first ‘soft launch’ night. Had the delicious steak 'as Chef recommends' rare to medium… really tasty and delici8us attention to detail in the sauce and extras. Quality atmosphere and cosy ambience. Lovely to have a restaurant in Baldock like this one.

First time having Sunday lunch at Eight and it will not be the last! Perfect in every way. Staff are absolutely brilliant. They are very knowledgeable about the food and wines. Food was delicious. Had no room for a pudding - sorry! We had the tempura cod cheeks (with a fantastic herb sauce) and potted prawns with Melba toast for starters (I tasted mace in the prawn dish???) and mains were the Sunday roasts of chicken and beef with all the trimmings. We also ordered cauli cheese and were very impressed with the topping of the fried cauli leaves. All in all, a wonderful afternoon. We wish you all every success and will see you soon. Thank you.

Ambience was perfect, food perfect, service excellent (Daisy a special mention, the Lady will contact her after New Year). Necessary to book. The Tiramisu Baileys, coffee cocktail rounded off the evening. Thoroughly recommended.

What a lovely place to have dinner in Baldock! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, all the servers and managers were all in a good mood which made us very excited to experience the food here. The tira misu martini was exceptional. The goat cheese starter was deli but too small for sharing. The gnocchi was tasty too, it’s sure to say everything you’ll have here will be delicious and of high quality! The one note we would have is that it was sometimes hard to get the attention of our server but they were gracious with us when they were with us. I’d love to return soon :)

This dinner was booked for my boyfriends 30th birthday and it absolutely took our breathes away. Best food we have had in a long time and is now one of our favourite places to go, so will definitely be back for dinner! Thank you so much for making his 30th birthday night so special, it was just perfect. The pairing of wine with the food was just such a lovely touch and every single dish we had was well thought through with lots of flavours! Iris was our waitress and was just lovely throughout! Friday lunch with a friend for a good catch up. Julia loved her beef casserole while my fish and chips were delicious- not a huge portion (which I prefer) with succulent fish, crispy batter and yummy skin-on fries. Friendly welcoming staff too. We’ll return

Staff are very friendly, helpful and polite. The food was delicious. Sadly our birthday celebration was spoilt by the very noisy children’s party which was taking place at the same time. Also, two of us paid twice for our one cup of coffee each. Our waitress did apologise for the noise but our dining experience was ruined.

Such great flavour on the full English breakfast, and the bottomless brunch was well served and frequently refilled. Very good value for money and a lovely experience.

Arrived at 12.30. Offered choice of brunch or lunch menu. Bavette steak and eggs was a hit.

We popped in here by chance. It is only 10 months open and I had never noticed it. 3 brunches later and I will be back. Steak & egg brunch £13 and beautiful. Place is high spec finished & staff friendly and well trained. Open evening too so on my list to revisit.

Food was great - had the cambembert and the gnocchi and both were really good! Loved the restaurant layout and decor, felt very welcoming and warm. Service was excellent - fast, attentive, and friendly. Only reasons it's not all 5 stars is was it was a touch too noisy which can be quite overwhelming but guess it's a good sign that it's busy! They also gave my mum ice cream on the house as it was here birthday. Would eat here again :)

I went to Eight last night for a meal and was not disappointed. It was a lovely experience the food and service was fantastic the restaurant itself is really nicely laid out .We go there most Sundays for cocktails but this is the first time we have had a meal there and we will definitely be going back well done too all the staff for a great night

Booked for our Anniversary. So so glad I did! Great atmosphere,fantastic staff, amazing food. Every dish was perfect. I had beef fillet. One of the best I've ever had. I really like the fact you do scrimp on staff! Did not have to wait for anything. All so well run. Big shout out to the new lad that was serving us. Very polite young man. We were told from the start that he was training. He was a little nervous, but we were very impressed with him. He will be an asset to a fabulous restaurant. Can't wait for the next visit x

Very polite staff who were happy to cater for all. Nice atmosphere. Small restaurant however well kept. The food was made with good quality local ingredients which I very much appreciate. However, some of which was not to my personal taste. The food could have been served a bit quicker also. I would visit again but at a different time eg. Lunch.

Soft Shell Crab was excellent, great service and food and loved the Pumpkin seeds and local beer.

We went to Eight for Sunday Lunch with our son for his birthday. The menu was well laid out with several choices for each course I had a Prawn Salad - which was delicious followed by a Main dish of herb Gnocchi in a beautiful green sauce - another lovely choice. Finally a Sticky Chocolate Pudding - again a lovely choice - a generous portion too. Our son said that his Guinea Fowl was beautifully cooked and not overcooked which is sometimes with this bird. All in all a great meal served by attentive efficient staff. Highly recommended

Absolutely great. Went not knowing what to expect and was absolutely blown away. Great food, lovely drinks, pleasant decor. We need more of these brilliant independents. Only realised once I got home that 10% service is included in the bill so ended up tipping twice. Very much worth it though. Well definitely be back.

Baldock is very lucky to have such a gem of a restaurant. Went to celebrate a family birthday and was absolutely blown away by the food, the service and the convivial atmosphere. Eight is punching well above its weight at this price, after a week of dining out this was by far and away the best meal I had, stacking up against some prestigious competition with names attached. Big shout out to the staff who were amazing from start to finish, we will be back for many more visits.

Lovely place. Didn't realise it was here but has apparently been open since last year. 3 course Sunday Lunch. I had the soft shell crab for starters, which was exquisite. Stunning 2 thick slices of pink roast beef with all the trimmings for main. The cauliflower cheese was extra, but probably the best we have had, Mixed cheeses on top. Chocolate brownie with gelato to fini. Gorgeous. All beautifully presented. Staff were very attentive, and the chef came over for a chat. He was very humble, insisting he didn't have to do a lot with the fresh local produce available to him. Whatever he did or didnt do, was perfect.

Absolutely flawless. Had the burrata and chicken pate to start. Both were fresh, flavourful and expertly seasoned. For main we had the duck and fillet steak and again, they were perfectly cooked and well rested before serving. Wine was perfectly recommended and the cocktails were immaculate. Can't recommend highly enough.

A treat for our anniversary. We had a very pleasant welcome by a charming waitress and taken to our table. The chef/patron came out to chat which was lovely. The food was delicious. We chose a sharing starter - camembert & toasted bread.... 😋 then we had loin of pork and roast breast of duck - both dishes were nicely presented and delicious. We ended with sticky toffee pudding & ice cream which was so good. Definitely recommend 8 which is for that special occasion 5 star service and food 😀

Have been coming here for drinks and nibbles for a while and would always recommend. Finally made it for a proper meal and we were all completely satisfied. Everything we ate was great! The staff are friendly and helpful. We sat and had a lovely unrushed meal with really good food much of which is locally sourced produce. I personally had the soft shell crab which I think I’ll be back for after pay day. It was deep fried and dressed with a tasty mayo and Chili. I also had a pork chop with amazing crackin and the beans with it made for a mouth watering combination. The meat was tender and juicy making for an amazing texture and taste combo. For pudding the panacotta was packed with complex flavour and beautifully balanced by the rhubarb which added a lovely bite and acidity to the dish. Such a lovely summer evening out and I can’t wait to go back.

The combination of a truly gifted, imaginative and innovative chef with a superb front of house maitre d' makes for a most enjoyable evening. The setting is attractive and the wine list is both interesting and good value. It's always a treat to come to Eight as a good time is assured!

The food was fantastic, had a great meal until the bill. Sadly they’d tried to add £70 worth of drinks we didn’t have!! At no point did they apologise, just said they’d change the bill. Really disappointed and would recommend you check your bill carefully...

We had. Lovely three course meal on Saturday evening. The food was delicious. Especially the halibut. Service was attentive and timely . Really liked that the manager came abs spoke to us at the end.

Eight is really worth a visit. The people of Baldock are extremely lucky to have such an excellent restaurant in the centre of town. The soup of the day is always beautifully textured and flavoured, and yesterday, we also thoroughly enjoyed the pate and crab. Thanks to all staff both front of house and in the kitchen for a delicious meal. We will certainly be back.

Had a really delicious Sunday lunch here. Had the soft shell crab and then roast beef. Very generous portions. Everything was cooked well and tasted great. Very welcoming and good service. It was quiet (coronation weekend) but would assume service just as good when busy. Definitely somewhere we will return.

Excellent food and cracking service. Perfect sea bass for me - crispy skin and succulent flesh. Sisters poussin was also tender, moist and tasty with perfect crispy skin with lovely tangy tabouleh, she says. I Didn’t much like the soft shelled crab but not sure why and it was well done.

The service was great from the minute I stepped foot inside, I was made very welcome and loved my spot by the bar, where I could watch the magic unfold. Led by head chef Kish, the whole team really enhance the experience and they all know their food very well. The quality of the food really stands out and I left a well fed and happy man! Managed to do a 3 course somehow and glad that I did. Great atmosphere and a lovely place for singles, couples and families alike to enjoy delicious locally sourced food that is cooked really well. I will definitely be visiting again and I recommend that locals in and around Baldock give it a go!!

We went for my partner's birthday meal. And there was some disappointment. Good things- food tasted good service was good. Not so good-I looked at the menu before we booked. And expected it will be hake not coley -it just hardly has flavour. In my opinion- not restaurant standard fish. Offer 2 courses for £28 or 3 courses for £36, it just did not make - as we would pay less if just would be a main and a dessert without the offer. For the example I ordered fish&chips (£17) and a dessert (£8).Usually there is some gain to go for the offer, not this time.

This is a fantastic place to eat. Great food, locally sourced and I was impressed with the waiting staff. It’s everything that an independent restaurant should be and it’s one of the best places I’ve eaten in the Hitchin area.

Great place, they have done a marvellous refurbishment from previous owners making a better layout. Staff attentive although some seemed young new to waitering. Food was fantastic, loved the suggestions of wine to drink with each selection. Priced reasonable to reflect the good food. Would love to go back again, my first choice over Chez Burton.

Last weekend our family of four had the pleasure of dining at Eight and our experience was lovely. We were warmly greeted on arrival and immediately shown to our table within the cozy and inviting restaurant. The menu had an excellent balance of dishes to choose from using locally sourced produce and caters to a broad range of dietary needs. We opted for; Chorizo Croquettes followed by Fillet Steak; Chicken Liver Pate followed by Torbay Sole; Moules Marinière followed by Torbay Sole and Crispy Soft-Shell Crab followed by Torbay Sole. Our daughters then chose the Lemon posset and Affogato (Kinder gelato and baileys) for dessert. Each dish was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and was delicious, with each bite bursting with flavour. The team was discretely attentive throughout the meal and ensured we were well looked after. Overall, we highly recommend this restaurant; the food, atmosphere, and service were excellent and we look forward to visiting again soon!

Warm welcome, relaxed atmosphere, cosy room, great service and food. We came on a “Persian night” and can’t wait to come back to sample other menus. I understand it opened recently, but it has everything to do very well and I really hope it will.

I've been a couple of times, for a quiet meal with my husband and also with friends for a birthday meal, both times the service was great - attentive but didn't feel pressured - and the food was delicious. The drinks menu is a great mix of old favourites and tempting new options, the marmalade gin was lovely. Will definitely be back and looking forward to trying the brunch.

We had an absolutely delightful roast here yesterday to celebrate my soon to be mother-in-law's birthday. It was super tasty and the service was great. I can't wait to return!

Kish’s food is definitely one of the besties I have ever tried in the UK. I had opportunity to try different dishes since he first started with Chef at Home “foods of the word” and it is remarkable his ability to adapt to the different culinary techniques and flavours. Now with eight, I have no doubts, we’ll have a place to look forwards to go for an experience rather than just a meal.

Amazing food, really lovely staff and the head chef / owner has created a unique style and space in the centre of Baldock.

I've been lucky enough to visit 4 times now. The crispy chicken dumplings and the cod cheeks are favourites of mine. Cocktails are mixed to perfection - the After Eight espresso martini is awesome! If you're going for brunch the pancakes are deliciously light and fluffy, the best I've ever tasted. All topped off with impeccable service from Kish and team!

I visited restaurant Eight in Baldock with a friend and it was truly a memorable experience. Initially we went to have a light bite, but the food was so good that we ended up with a 3-course meal and plenty of delicious cocktails. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Baldock. It's a must visit when you're in the area!

This is my favourite restaurant in Baldock, and I can’t get enough of it! I love the small plate choice, they are all exquisite and compliments to the Chef - Kish, you never disappoint. Although it only opened in December, I’ve already been for 3 meals, have booked a 4th, with my girlfriends, and, if I’m lucky, I might have the chance to go there in February too! Oh, and Ben’s cocktails are amazing. 5* all round!

A fantastic addition to Baldock! Everything is homemade, locally sourced and seasonal. With a fine dining twist, handmade cocktails from the brilliant Mixologist and excellent service. We've enjoyed Brunch and Sunday Roasts and cannot recommend enough! You're truly supporting a local family business when you eat or drink here. Definitely try it out - doubtful you'll be disappointed
