Great take away at great prices and they cater for coeliac diets. Everything freshly cooked to order. Our go to when we want Chinese.

Really bland special fried rice and crispy Szechwan chicken was soggy and bland and really salty , not great . To be honest we’ve been before and it wasn’t bad but we spent £84 for 2 people and at those prices it has to be great every time . Disappointed and unlikely to return which is a shame .

AVOID! Ordered crispy chilli with honey chilli sauce x 2 as it was new on the menu. Going by ordering from a different Chinese which is really good was looking forward to try this from the five star as this has been my favourite Chinese restaurant for years. Already have had my thoughts since restaurant been taken over by new owners food and staff overall not the same. Ordered this as a takeaway got home and was immediately disappointed crispy chicken dry in a separate containers opened it up did not look appetising at all coating on chicken just didn’t look right. Secondly the sauce was literally like water never seen anything like it. Tried it but couldn’t eat it absolutely disgusting. The Five Star used to be best Chinese in Kilmarnock but since new owners took over it’s turned five start restaurant into cheap looking and awful food. Definitely not be back and would recommend everyone to avoid.

Very friendly and welcoming. A la carte is extensive, though the set menu has a good choice for each course. Portion sizes are very generous and healthy appetites are required. Children were catered for and again the portions were not far off adult size. It was great to find authentic cuisine outside of a city.

Was so excited chicken rice soup was on the menu, however with bread I didn't need ended up costing £5. Decided to go for the sandwich soup combo instead worked out a little less than £7.50 but at least got protein in my sandwich. The place is clean and you queue to get a table then you queue at a counter to place an order. I joined the table queue at 2.10 . at 3.40 from my table after having ordered I said I only had 15 min to eat the meal. 8 minutes later it came which meant I had seven minutes - so a long wait. In addition sadly the soup was tasteless , no taste of chicken whatsoever and my prawn marie rose sandwich needed twice the amount of filling to avoid throwing half the bread away

Quite simply the best chinese take away in Kilmarnock if not scotland. Absolutely fantastic food, all fresh and packed with flavour

The chips were absolutely amazing I couldn’t ask for anything better they salt distribution on them bad boys was immaculate the sausage was better perfectly the drink selection was very varied and I feel like it had a lot to offer the sauces and various dips were pretty standard yet so unique at the same time the curry sauce had a certain tangyniss that you can’t find anywhere else all and all one of the best chippy experiences I’ve had would go back and would highly recommend

Honest review.... Breast of Chicken curry, tiny wee bits of diced chicken, with salty soggy mushroom in awful "curry" sauce, never tasted anything like it . Chips n cheese was cold, wet chips with barely no cheese. Definitely not worth the money I paid... Will never be back

After years of custom, we’re never using oriental palace again I phoned for delivery and woman didn’t give approx delivery time which she should have done. Turns out she’s also the delivery driver. Phoned again one hour later to be told by her they hadn't even started cooking it yet and driving conditions were bad. We’re a 2 min drive away and it wasn’t blowing a tornado, just very windy. Other restaurants were delivering to our street OK. Did I want to cancel? They obviously don’t have to worry about making money. I said no as I figured I’d waited that long, I might as well wait a bit more. After 40 minutes I was courteous enough to call to let them know I wanted to cancel (I’d phoned Happy Panda who cooked and delivered within 20 mins and WERE £7 CHEAPER!), The same woman answered and she was shockingly rude and condescending. Her unprofessional, couldn’t care less attitude (weather excuse repeatedly given) was totally unacceptable and will cost this restaurant business. New owners should take note as there are plenty of other places available. We’ll be using the Happy Panda in future as great service and very friendly.
