The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving Chinese food

Ordered meal was delivered but container opened in delivery transit spilling over order. Driver took back and expected a new meal however same meal sent out with replacement sauce which had spilled. Meal cold so called restaurant who said would replace. This duly came however when opening not all meal was sent. Another call to restaurant to advise and was told they would send the driver back to collect meal and issue full refund. Waited approx 40 mins to ask what time the driver was going to collect meal being told they had decided not to collect and would issue the refund without. I advised would throw on dustbin which duly did. Receive email today saying only the soup would be refunded as l ate another meal from the menu which is incorrect so called tonight being advised a call back from manager. Waited over 30 mins and called again being advised by the cashier lady the manager was too busy and would call back around 8 when it goes quiet. However she called again saying had spoken manager and he said as they delivered part meal they would not refund. Have requested he call me back so will see Would recommend not to use such a bad restaurant where customer service means nothing and looking at the reviews the meals seemingly getting bad reviews

Used to be the best Chinese food in tavi but it's really gone downhill. The black bean sauce tasted like it was made from gravy granuals or something. Don't think it's 'authentic' anymore

Good selection of vegan options (anything pretty much on the veggie menu can be done vegan), pretty decent food but not as good as some other Chinese locations in the area. Waited a little while to pickup.

This place seems to have reopened under the name Jumbo Chinese Restaurant. First time ordering here and sadly my last. Delivery took an hour but at order it said 20-30 mins. Food arrived cold and had to be heated before eating. The chicken fried rice was nothing like a normal Chinese chicken fried rice. There was no flavour at all and the chicken was greasy and tough. Weirdly, the rice was also bright yellow, more like an Indian pilau rice. The spring rolls were OK and edible but sadly not good enough to make me want to order again. Sadly my search for a decent Chinese takeaway goes on.

Fuimos clientes muy regulares durante 30 años. Le hemos dado al restaurante algunas oportunidades desde el cambio de propietario que han sido decepcionantes, pero esta noche fue la última vez. Pedimos comida para llevar, que incluía ‘Chicken Mushroom’. Lo comprobamos dos veces por teléfono preguntando «¿no hay tuercas en nada de lo que hemos pedido?». Nos dijeron ‘no locos’. El plato de setas de pollo era para la persona con alergia a las nueces. Han probado este plato muchas veces durante muchos años. No teníamos razón para ser cautelosos. Rápidamente nos dimos cuenta de que el plato contenía anacardos. Demasiado tarde. La persona con alergia a los frutos secos había comido un anacardo. Luego pasamos varias horas ansiosos esperando que estuvieran bien. Llamamos al restaurante para decirles lo que había pasado. Se disculparon y dijeron que el error debe haberse cometido en la cocina. Definitivamente nos habían dado pollo con nueces de anacardo que está debajo de pollo y hongos en el menú. Esto no fue un anacardo pícaro en el plato equivocado. ¡Este fue el plato equivocado lleno de nueces! Si el error se cometió cuando se pasó el pedido a la cocina o el error se cometió en la cocina. Es simplemente inaceptable y el propietario debe tomar medidas para garantizar que esto nunca vuelva a suceder. Nunca volveremos en el restaurante y nunca pediremos comida para llevar - fuera. Es un triste final para una relación de larga data, pero The Loon Fung ya no es The Loon Fung de antaño.

I first reviewed this fantastic little Chinese restaurant 8 years ago, and I’m so glad I recently went back — it’s just as good as I remembered. It’s a small, family-run place on the outskirts of Reading and still very much a hidden gem. Everything we ordered was great, but the Hong Kong-style beef brisket noodles and the Sichuan spicy chicken were real standouts — both absolutely delicious. The flavours are authentic, the portions generous, and the prices reasonable. Friendly service too. Highly recommended

We visited in January and REALLY loved it! It was random check-in for a dine-in to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was worth it! The staffs were so accommodating and courteous. The ambience was very lovely! We enjoyed our visit!

Open late and great quality food and service. Recommend

Thought we would give this a go staff at first with polite but felt like you were gonna be rushed , ordered sweet and sour chicken and chicken chow meine , after 10 minutes it came out the sweet and sour was so small and for the price of 14 quid i expected a bit more and it was so bland , my partner did not eat as when the chowmeine came out the chicken looked enimic and it was laced in grease no sauce , we quickly left , over priced and rubbish . When my partner complained the attitude of the staff changed and they became aggressive in their tone of voice and tried to insult my partner by saying do u eat take aways .

La sopa de maíz dulce de pollo estaba bien, el arroz sabe como si hubiera sido cocinado días antes el pato tenía grandes trozos de grasa con grandes trozos de piña fría arrojando sobre todos los pocos trozos de pato, el pato carecía de sabor y la textura era terrible. Los fideos estaban bien. Segunda peor comida china que he probado. Nunca más compraré comida de este restaurante.

Food was very tasty, generous portions and a reasonable price. Staff were very polite and accommodating. The atmosphere was ideal for us as we were friends wanting to talk so appreciated it not being too noisy.

Food was delicious, arrived piping hot. You can tell its quality ingredients and the portion sizes were great too. There’s nothing worse than a disappointing Chinese and Wok star only exceeded expections! Very happy and will be ordering again.
