Peninsular Cantonese Restaurant in Lichfield

As with any Chinese the quality and food does seem to vary from time to time however I would say more times than not we do enjoy the food purchased. Fu House in Two Gates would still be a better suggestion in my opinion.

Booked a 2 day visit to drayton manor, stayed at the premier inn about a mile away. Reception recommended here. Have to say, the food was absolutely outstanding! All cooked fresh and the lady who served was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

As a regular customer, I have consistently enjoyed your services, but unfortunately, my latest experience has left me dissatisfied. Not only was my order incorrect, but all the items received were slightly warm, indicating that they were not freshly cooked. This was unexpected and disappointing, especially considering my previous positive experiences. To add to my frustration, I tipped the driver £5, expecting a service that aligned with the quality I had come to appreciate. However, the decline in both order accuracy and food temperature has left me with no choice but to reconsider using your services in the future. I believe in providing constructive feedback, and I hope you can address these issues to maintain the high standards I have come to expect from your establishment.

Amazing salt and pepper chips. For some reason they cut the noodles up tho, I have no idea why. I also ask them not to and they still cut their noodles up into little pieces. It really spoils the noodles.

This place used to be so nice. After a busy day I choose to order a Chinese. It arrived after an hour, luke warm and tasted like everything had been reheated. The chips were awful, chicken balls over done and very few in the pack. It was one of the most expensive take outs I’ve bought and didn’t get free prawn crackers which you do at many places. The most disappointing part is that I spoke to the staff three times and they were rude. The phone was put down on me abruptly twice! Overall an awful experience.

My family and I would choose this Chinese and have done for the last 3 years to order from. Yesterday was my birthday and we ordered from Peninsular for 11 individuals. I was absolutely shocked at the poor condition of the food especially the meats including chicken fried rice, bbq spare ribs and chicken chow mein. The meat tastes as if it was warmed up, so chewy and did not taste right, maybe out of date? The food was not the main problem. I called up to let the restaurant know and the response I received was horrendous. The lady I spoke toc, who names herself as the manage was very rude and so unprofessional. She called my 19 year old nephew a 'little boy' when I described who picked the order up. She continuously laughed down the phone at me when I asked if she could refund only for the food that we did not eat. The lady responded "No, not really" and laughed at me. She was very cheeky and I was left in shock. A customer should not be spoken to in the degrading tone she used. They have now lost a good customer. I would avoid if you would like to enjoy your chinese food or be spoken to in a kind manner.

Food delivered, chips was hard and food was very greasey. Need to cook salt & pepper chicken with thin batter as was dripping in grease.

Came last night to collect my order special curry (no prawns) as elergic got home was prawns in they told me to come tonight to get another have just called a man answered the way he spoke to me was horrendous told me it wasnt his problem. And now could not collect my meal i will never eat from there again the customer service was shocking he put the phone down on me so i rang back still wouldn't sort my order

A Decent Cantonese, food quality is great, a quick delivery service. Staff are friendly and don't rush one. They do use card payment, over the phone, or at delivery, Higly recommended!!

Phoned at 17.38 with an order, told 45mins, 2hrs later called again to see where the order was, was told we tried to call you several times (this was rubbish, my phone has been with me all evening) then was told do you still want the meal? I asked how long will it be, only to be told we have to cook it, I asked for no soya in the dish, its not rocket science to not add soya sauce, of course im not waiting another hour or two for a meal I ordered 2hr ago.. Will not use again and looking at the reviews many others wont either....Extremely bad service.

Great food, but received a £100 fine for parking at the back while placing my order. Been there before and never had a problem but this time the meal cost me £118. I will not return. Edit: After visiting the parking today, and chatting with the most delightful lady at Peninsular, I was advised that this is no longer a Peninsular car park. The only suggestion I can make is that Peninsular put up their own signs informing customers that the parking is for the other restaurant. I have chosen to edit this review because of how well the lady helped me. I live by the mantra, “Never judge a company by what went wrong, judge them by how they handle and resolve it!” Food has always been good!

Had the King Prawn Satay and it was really greasy. Normally, with take-always we save half for the following day, so we did that but the layer of grease on top when left in the fridge overnight was unbelievable. Went straight in the bin.

Gave up on this place ages ago (review given as i was prompted by Google and now going to the superior Pepe's Chicken which is in the same location). Peninsular got our order wrong twice. Food had gotten overly salty too. Also check their hygiene rating as (at last check) it was abysmal.

Ordered a take away cost£37 had list of order with numbers when we got home completely wrong order , when I rang to let them know girl said it must be our mistake even though a written note given with barbecued spare ribs fried rice written down given to girl who never went through the order just handed it over even though girl insisted that was the practice . Never written a review before but when they get it wrong and say it’s your fault . Will never visit again . Poor !

Best Chinese takeaway around highly recommend friendly staff king prawn curry delicious 10 out of 10

Had a really great takeaway at a good price from the set meals menu. When we arrived 2 or 3 other people were waiting in the queue but orders were taken quickly and the food came out in less than 20 minutes. Both the quality and quantity were excellent and everything was still piping hot by the time we had walked the short distance back to the boat. Whenever I visit Fazeley by canal again I will definitely return to Peninsular Cantonese takeaway because this was one of the best Chinese meals I have had.

Excellent food and fabulous service. One of the best set meals - even allowed us to swap one dish for another, we have had for a very long time. Set menu for 2 and so much food it will see us for tomorrow lunch excellent value - highly recommended.

Possibly the worst Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had. Spring roll arrived as one large one even though we asked for mini spring rolls. It was full of nothing but bean sprouts, cold, no flavour. Absolutely vile. Salt and pepper chips were stone cold & dried out like they’ve been left for a week. Chicken in satay sauce - it’s meant to be a thick sauce, it was like water, again no flavour. Absolute disgrace. Will not be going back again.

The restaurant part of this business has now closed, and they are now only operating a takeaway business. Service and delivery didn't take to long which is great. We ordered the set menu for 2 which is great. Prices has all slightly gone up, but that's pretty much everything in life at the moment. Food tasted great and the meal for 2 is certainly very filling.

Have had lots of good takeaways delivered in the past. Tonight we just ordered starters Dim sum combination and Yuk Sung all very dry as if it had been cooked earlier and then warmed up. Very disappointing will think twice before using again.

Such a rude owner/manager.. we have ordered from Peninsula a few times and the food has been of decent taste and quality. Last time we ordered it was vulgar, we threw it away it tasted that bad.. I called the restaurant to let them know and after 15 min of arguing they finally agreed to give us a free meal to apologise.. a few weeks later we called to get our free meal that was promised and the owner said she would never honour this and she didn’t care if we never used her again.. utterly appalling customer service after providing us with awful food. Stay away!!!!

Service levels have dropped considerably since closing down the restaurant and food is no longer fresh. Also, last time I ordered they only partially delivered. Will definitely not order again from this place.

Chicken chowmain very dry no source very dry. This has happened on more than one occasion. Not happy and to salty.

Ordered chow Mein with thick noodles. Even confirmed on the phone. Sent thin noodles. Called to discuss and was told they don’t have any other type of noodle. I had the thick noodles last week. Explained this and was told I must’ve had it from another Chinese restaurant..laughable. Was not very nice and the person on the phone just talked over me and said they have never served what I had delivered from them last week. Won’t use again.

Sadly this has gone down hill over the last year. The car park is full of rubbish and looks like a landfill site. We had raw slimy chicken, we were so sick. Avoid!

Stopped on our canal boat at Fazeley and four of us ordered a Chinese meal from Peninsular. It was ready for collection at the time requested and we all agreed it was fantastic. The Jill Yuen dishes, which we hadn't tried before, were great. A slight let down were the ribs which were dry and overcooked but the rest was so good we will definitely eat here again. Staff were very cheerful and we look forward to a sit down meal when restaurants are allowed to reopen.

We have used Peninsular for takeaways a couple of times before and it is still as good as ever. I just wish we hade a takeaway near where we lived who served food this tasty, the portion sizes are also good. We ordered by phone on a Saturday evening and were told it would be about 20 minutes and when Diana arrived it was ready with our name on it. So often you turn up on time and wait another 10 minutes for it. We have never tried their Restaurant taking the food back to our boat to eat.

How disgusting being black listed from a Chinese, for there food missing and uncooked food. Made a complaint return and full refund. And now have been black listed permanently. Never heard of anything like this before. What a complete joke of a company!!

A really good meal. It only took half an hour to be delivered and was a fairly large order. Piping hot, delicious and fully deserving of 5 stars. Highly recommended.

Just had a Takeaway on recommendation of my partners friend. Set meal for 2. Very friendly driver, however... Prawns in a really gloopy sloppy sauce Beef black bean sauce .not exactly what i normally have from my regular chinese. Rice.tasted of bleach. Salt n pepper chips medicore not much pepper like at my normal chinese The only saving grace was a hot creamy dip? .and the spring rolls. The rest greasy and weird tasting. Was very reasonable but i felt sick with all the grease. Il stick to Eatwell kettlebrook

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE we order from here atleast once every 2 weeks and today our order come with NO sauce in a rice chips and sauce tray. I phoned back and asked if they could drop us some sauce for their error and he said ‘no you need to pay’. We then went back and forth, I asked for him to come and pick up the untouched food in return for a refund. He said no and put the phone down!!!! Lost a loyal customer!!!

We usually spend around £40 a month at this Chinese on takeaway, loyal customers! We have complained about the quality of food in the past but it has never put us off ordering again... HOWEVER Today we ordered a rice chips and sauce in a tray. The lack of sauce was MINIMAL and totally defeated the object of having it all mixed in a tray. I usually order the same thing and it’s drowning in sauce on previous occasions! I called and explained and after going back and forth and arguing with me, I asked if they could please drop a sauce to us. He said no you will need to pay! I asked if they could pick up the untouched food and give us a refund, to which he said NO and put the phone down!! Awful customer service. A little goes a long way and could have been resolved by dropping off some sauce considering we’re loyal customers and live 2 minutes away. Not the first time we’ve had to complain but definitely the last as they’ve lost us as customers!!

Ordered a takeaway to be delivered and was told about an hour. 70 minutes later we phoned again to be told food on the way. The food arrived after 95 minutes and was not hot or even warm. I didn't want to accept the food, but everyone was hungry. The food was reheated in the oven, and didn't taste too good. The Singapore noodles weren't as good as I expected, neither were the ribs. Salt and pepper chicken was good, though. Wasn't impressed with the 35.50 bill

Food arrived over an hour late, and cold, refused to resend order, had to drive and collect, absolute shambles.

We have had several takeaways from here and also eaten in the restaurant on several occasions and have found the food and service to be of a high standard. However, a few weeks ago the takeaway food was not as good. Last night we thought we’d give them the benefit of the doubt and try them again, after all we all have days that are not so good. We ordered a set meal, as we have previously done, exchanging the king prawn for a chicken chow mien. The service was excellent, it was ready when we arrived to collect. However the food was not of the excellent standard we had previously enjoyed. The yuk sung was very salty and I think they may have slipped with the garlic! The chow mien was really not nice and almost inedible, although the cat enjoyed the chicken. Sadly I don’t think we will be using them for a while 🙁

Wrong food two weeks on the bounce and under cooked rice

Thoroughly enjoyed our Saturday night takeaway, recommend the Kung Po King Prawn dish (144)! Great portions 👌🏼 We only waited 15 mins from calling as opted to collect. There was excellent service when we went and staff very welcoming, car park was packed and telephone didn’t stop raining.

Hi All, We have had many takeaway deliveries from here, and to be fair they have been OK,based on this we ordered again tonight, I've paid £20-40 for King Prawn in batter, egg fried rice and a bag of Prawn Crackers,fine, there was just 6 prawns on the order,so let's say the portion was poor and this will be my last order,buyer beware, dreadful value for money

We had a takeaway from Peninsular this evening just going for the set meal for 2 and it was first class. Without doubt the best oriental takeaway we have ever had, anywhere . The speed of service was also very good. Highly recommended and I will definitely mention it in my blog tomorrow

This is a welcoming restaurant the staff went out of their way to chat to us. They are not doing the ‘Eat out to help out’ but it was still busy. The food was excellent would highly recommend this restaurant.

Can't fault this place. Excellent service. Great value. Delicious fresh food and delivered exactly at time requested to our caravan at Drayton Manor campsite. Would strongly recommend and will certainly use again if we return.

Dinned here tonight.. Fantastic food and very quick service. Food was excellent quality and staff were very helpful, pleasant and polite. The Shanghai chicken was delicious and my wife had the sweet and sour chicken which was equally as good.. We're visiting Drayton Manor tomorrow, if I'm back down this way again I'll definitely come again.

Shocking !!!. Ordered from the take away menu. My meal arrives full of cashew nuts (no mention of this on the menu) After phoning to complain, was told. Yes this meal does have nuts in, but we forgot to put it on the menu.

Never dissapointed with the food or service in this place, so welcoming and the food is top notch. The Duck Pancakes and the Yuk Sung are my favourites. But on a whole everything ove tried has been good.

The staff are incredibly rude and shout the same thing at you over and over But the food is actually nice, but the service is absolutely terrible - so go for a delivery/takeaway and you don’t have to deal with them for long 😂

Have ordered from here on numerous occasions, but this time after a long break from takeaways, it was awful. The food arrived barely warm, the curry dish was awful it was clumpy And the chicken tasted like chicken scraps. And when ordering over the phone I have never experienced someone be so rude, there was no customer service at all. Will NOT be ordering from here again this experience has totally put me off. Disappointment of a meal.

The food here is delicious and has never ever let us down in terms of quality and taste. However, we ordered Crab Claws as part of our delivery. I’m not sure £4.50 for one crab claw is justified? I expected at least two which is the norm at other restaurants...bit disappointing. We won’t order that particular item next time.

Came in at lunch time for a quick lunch and what a great choice for such a low price. Was £8.50 for a 2 course with a choice of 7or8 starters we had Yuck sung and it was delicious then for main you get the choice of 15ish dishes and again a great choice and full of flavour served with egg fried rice. And in dishes so you can share :-) Service was excellent and was nice of the manager to say hello aswell. It gives it a personal touch and makes you feel extra welcomed. We love this place

We have returned to this place as it is under new management and the quality of the food and service have returned to the previous heights and it is very much on our list again.

Having visited the Peninsular several times before, my family and I revisited the restaurant on Friday last week, to be greeted with first class staff and a complete redecoration.The food is, as always outstanding and service by Keith and all the team.... perfect. Would recommend that you visit soon.

Having been closed for a few days, the restaurant has reopened after having been redecorated, and looks amazing. Same great food also, so worth a visit.

Food and service first class, however the decor needs a little update. Parking in Fazeley at night is a nightmare so a little walk may be required.

Food was fine, service ok, but decor very tired, ripped wallpaper etc, makes you wonder what state the kitchen may be in. If you want a nice meal out I would give it a miss to be honest. Stick to takeaway.

1st and last ever visit here in the restaurant.Walked in, couldn’t understand the member of staff so asked him to repeat himself, so he shouted CAN I HELP YOU followed by I ONLY ASKED YOU A SIMPLE QUESTION. Interior is shabby, with tape over parts of the wallpaper to hide the damp. My fried chicken tasted & looked like it had been fried and re-fried from 2 days ago.With the insulting member of staff in mind, I’d had enough of the place after my then poor food, no wonder we were the ONLY people in there.

Average prices, super fast service and superb food!! Some takeaway restaurants can be a bit on the rushed and greasy side, but not these. Never had a bad order and I'm a fairly regular customer.

After a fun but cold and rainy day at Drayton Manor Park, we were looking for a hot dinner. Firstly, there’s free parking onsite which was handy for a family with young children. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made some recommendations on what to order and how much too - because tired parents need every bit of help! We ordered sweet and sour chicken, chow mein, squid, veggies, and Har Gau and all came out quickly, hot and really tasty! The chillie oil was delicious too. The decor is pretty tired and they didn’t have baby changing facilities which was a fun challenge but overall, as frequent visitors to London Chinatown, that was impressive! Thanks for a wonderful end to our holiday.
