We went to Vespers for a family birthday. The location is hard to beat and made for a great occasion, with drinks in the lounge first then taking our table in the beautifully-appointed dining room looking out to the grounds. The scene was set, then, for a sumptuous meal, one of us taking the vegetarian option (gnocchi) and the others the roast beef. Whilst the beef was reportedly melt in the mouth, the roast potatoes were deemed to be leathery and tough to get through (perhaps sitting under heat as we were a later sitting), with a rather tasteless gravy to boot. The gnocchi was oily and very over-salted; it didn’t get finished. I had a beautiful, subtle red with the meal. Desserts were somewhat ‘nouvelle’ in both portion and interpretation and would have gone down better with the table if they had followed a more classical approach. The Culloden Hotel and Vespers within it are top class locations for a special occasion. Service was polished and unobtrusive as you would expect. The food does need attention and we would not consider a return as things stand. With some attention to bring the menu up to par we’d look at it again for something special.

Used to work here and faced intense racism. They offered to buy out my contract seemingly to keep the issue quiet. I was contemplating taking legal action but this would mean going against an institution I respect (Camphill) that looks after people with learning disabilities. Since my experience of racism was limited to the Holywood branch. I ended up accepting the "garden leave" they offered because I didn't like the idea of attacking an institution that looks after the vulnerable. To add insult to injury at the end of this "garden leave" they didn't actually pay the entire sum that they owe to this day.

Stopped here after coming across from Downpatrick via the ferry. We were so pleased that we did, we both had a fry up. One of the best we have ever had in a cafe. Service was quick, no grease on the plate and thoroughly enjoyable. Lovely pot of tea as well. Michelle, who was in charge couldn’t have been more helpful, even though she had a very busy cafe. Top marks girls for a lovely meal for two very hungry clients.

We went to watch the rugby in the bar and no one was in the bar. The tvs weren't working only the one in the pool room were there was about 5 people playing pool. Hopefully it's just teething problems

Went to Jenny Watts tonight for dinner with visiting family. Lovely Irish pub, friendly welcome and good to see a coal fire lit on a chilly evening. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty, great fella served us, welcoming and brilliant to see a friendly Irish person after our bad visit to The Dark Horse in Belfast. Great night out and we would happily return for food or drinks.

So , we had come here before in February as a family of 6 adults - the staff were friendly, but my view was that the food was ok at best, the drinks were pricey and the layout meant people were always squeezing past - personally I could take or leave going back but wanted to try again to support local business. Roll forward to April - table was booked on the Friday for Sunday at 5 - got there only to find no booking and no space - even though evidence of the call was shown . Turned out better in the end as we went to Blue Chicago and had a cracking meal at about £50 less than the last one we had in Teddy’s - shame as would have liked to support a small local business, but unlikely to give this another chance.
