Cultra Inn in North Down

Enjoyed a meet up with 4 other friends. While it was quiet on the day we went, it was nice to be able to book and know that the table would be ready on arrival. We went for the brunch menu and found a good choice of dishes to suit all tastes. The coffees are good size and the food was tasty. It was very relaxing and the waiter was good humoured and efficient. A perfect morning out.

Our visit was somewhat spoiled by very slow service which was simply down to too few staff on duty on a fine Friday evening . It was not for the lack of service or effort from those that were on duty . The experience would have been significantly improved with 2/3 more staff on duty

Have been quite a few times to Cultra Inn. The food today was outstanding and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Had a wonderful afternoon.

The waiter who served us cleaned a dog's pee near our table and put the kitchen paper soaked in dog's pee on the table next to ours, then with the same hands, HE WAS NOT WEARING GLOVES, cleaned our table with a wet cloth and put out order on his tablet. We were shocked!!! I ordered chicken parfait and it was tasteless and watery When paying for lunch we were asked to pay somebody's else bill. What stars will you give???

Great experience at Cultra Inn, as always

Food was lovely. Service not great. Although they were friendly we asked for the bill twice (2 different people) and eventually had to go up to the desk to get it paid as we were in a rush and nearly missed our train because of it. I would still go back but would make sure we had nowhere else to be after.

Four of us visited on a busy Saturday in May. It’s not our first visit, being local, but it was our first visit in a while. It was great to sit outside thanks to the weather. They also had a Bollinger garden. I found the staff to be attentive and pleasant, particularly a woman who I think was a manager. She was extremely pleasant to deal with, professional and very helpful. Food and drink prices are as one would expect at a 4/5 star hotel. The only negative being you can’t eat outside - you have to either go inside the Inn or up to the hotel. We only wanted snack food, so had the chips and prawn cocktail. These were excellent. Inside the Inn, there are a couple of things: 1. It’s dog friendly: I like dogs but I wouldn’t say I love them (I’m ghastly allergic). Unfortunately, a lot of dog owners don’t realise that not everybody loves dogs. The dogs are only allowed in the bar area, but we noticed there was a “dog smell” in the air. There weren’t any dogs present, so I’m sure things would be worse if there were any. The smell of dog also isn’t appetising!!!! 2. It is a bit chaotic. Staff are running about and the bar is a bit of a free for all. I think this could easily be ironed out with training. 3. It’s such a shame people can’t eat outside. I know this is probably pest control/H&S related, but I wish they’d reconsider this policy, particularly in the busy summer months. Yes I would recommend here and we’ll undoubtedly return soon. If the above points were ironed out, this place would be FANTASTIC!!

I never leave reviews however feel it is necessary on this occasion. I was given a voucher for the Culloden as a gift and I had a substantial balance left and so the hotel receptionist informed me that I can use it in the Cultra Inn. When I did, I was rudely dismissed by a bar lady, when I explained further she bluntly stated ‘l don’t know why they told you you could use it’ and offered no assistance. I had to return to the hotel to ask for assistance and the hotel receptionist was more that helpful and contacted the Cultra Inn that my voucher code can be used at the bar. When I returned to the Cultra Inn, every time we ordered at the bar, I had to re explain to each bartender who had to ask their manager each time to confirm. This really dampened the experience and would put me off getting friends and family vouchers for the hotel. Even after the voucher was used, when it came time to check out of the hotel, the Cultra Inn had added the outstanding balance to my room. Thankfully the hotel staff on reception were extremely helpful and rectified this. The food was mediocre and the stressed atmosphere between staff was palpable

Beautiful atmosphere and the young staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Food and drinks were first class as was the service. Haven't been in years but will definitely be back very soon!!!

Today we had lunch and the service and food were as good as usual. When we came to pay the bill it was £70.40 when we thought it should be £64. We challenged the young man who was taking the money and he said a new service charge had been introduced and it went to the staff tips. We asked had the restaurant policy changed and he said it had so we paid up. The restaurant was quite busy and it was only on leaving that we noticed it was a discretionary charge which we were not given the option of accepting or not. We further noticed the jar for tips was still in use! We dine there quite often and do not appreciate being misled in this way.

We had a lovely time; everything was provided and it was very relaxing.

We really enjoyed our Easter Monday lunch. The service was a little slow, but we weren’t in a big rush to go anywhere.

Had a lovely family meal. Plenty of choice for the little ones. Service excellent as always. Staff were very attentive. Nice friendly and relaxed atmosphere makes it great for everyone.

quite busy for a wednesday evening so would recomend booking. taken straight to table and given menu. we chose the chowder for starters and the marrow burger for our main it was really delicious. the staff very attentive. would definitely return.

Fourteen of us met for a lunch, we are long standing friends, but my wife and myself live abroad now, so on a good recommendation we booked for Wednesday afternoon. The friends were mainly older ones, coming from Belfast, Carrickfergus and Bangor. The staff treated us all with respect. The food was truly good. We were so happy to enjoy this get together, the weather was great and the setting was very attractive. Thank you everyone for caring for our booking. You were First Class in every way. Food was quality was poor. Chicken very tough. Fish not cooked well. Service poor with one plate served 10mins after the others. As it was the same dish as another dinner there really no excuse.

Disappointing meal. Wasn’t busy yet had to ask repeatedly for staff to come to table to serve us. Food was bland and tasteless. Toilets were filthy and had to ask staff to stock toilet paper which they threw on top of toilet. Staff were too busy chatting to actually look at serving tables.

Dine here often and food is always excellent

We had dinner on Saturday night which was of our overnight stay package. Staff were friendly when serving us. Very quiet after 8:30! We also had a drink earlier in the day, however, the barman Michael Anderson is the worst we have ever come across - he was rude, unable to take more than 1 order at a time even though one customer ordered 1 drink. He splashed ice cubes in our direction and thankfully one other customer asked him if he was having a bad day.

Dine and indulge package. Lovely food but service was shocking. When we arrived we were told they would need to find us a table! (We had booked a table for weeks at that particular time) Took ages to get someone to take out order. Main course was ready to be served TWICE before we had finish our starter and then before the table had been cleared of dirty plates. Drinks took ages to arrive and as they were being served were spilt on the floor. 2 hours for 2 courses was very long didn't stay for dessert... All in all service was dreadful for being a quiet afternoon.

Took Mum out for a chilled Sunday lunch and that’s what we had. Food was amazing!!! And the staff were all helpful and friendly.

An absolute favourite of ours. My mother and I have lunch here most Saturdays. We highly recommend the chowder and Soups which are always delicious. Staff are just lovely and the surroundings are pretty

Had the most relaxing time in the hotel, my mammy loved her birthday slate in the room it was a lovely surprise for her, the food in Cultra Inn was outstanding however the service can be retouched, breakfast was excellent and the spa was just perfect. However my mum did find a dirty tissue in the torn pocket of her bathrobe before we went to the spa. However once I rang reception and informed them, they were extremely apologetic and sent up two fresh bathrobes for us. All of the staff were great and so helpful and friendly, especially the young man at breakfast his service was so lovely. I would say to the staff at Cultra Inn to remember to acknowledge guests arrivals while they wait to be seated, do table checks during meals as we never got one until the end when we paid, and remind of the language that they use around guests as there was a waitress who dropped an F-bomb at our table when we asked for cutlery when we received our mains (adored the goats cheese bruschetta!) and pointed out to a group of young men walking into the bar that they looked “scary” when we went to pay our bill. However she made a lovely recommendation on a cocktail for myself (French martini) and checked back to see if I had enjoyed it. We will definitely be back.

Enjoyed a lovely relaxed lunch in the Cultra Inn on Friday. Service was, as usual, very efficient and friendly. Went over and above for us.

Had a lovely experience from start to finish. Real good old fashioned customer service. Our waiter was lovely but I didn't note his name and he made the whole dining experience perfect. Loved the relaxed atmosphere. Best caesar salad ever 😋

I used to go to the Cultra Inn for business lunches but no longer. It is almost impossible to make contact with them directly by phone in order to make a reservation. The phone calls are routed through the main hotel who don’t bother waiting to see if you are connected and the call just rings out. The service can also vary dramatically depending upon which member of staff is serving you. Some are quite excellent but more recent staff servers seem to have missed out on staff training, or have not embraced the corporate ethos. In summary, they make it too difficult to make direct phone contact and the quality of service can be poor.

Food was delicious. Service was great and staff were very friendly. The only thing I would say is maybe have an option for a roast/carvery after 1430hrs on a Sunday as in my past experience it was great

£22 for an adult burger that's the same size as the kids burger, slightly overpriced! Short staffed and the waitress was chasing her tail. Didn't stay for dessert because everything took sooooo long. Very disappointed and expected more from the cultra inn. Nice espa hand soap though.

Very disappointed with the food and staff. Medium steak was extremely chewy and side salad was poor. Returned after spa treatment to have a drink. We were there around 8 pm and waited at the bar for service. Manager and two staff working but duly ignored us. Eventually we walked out without being served. Would not recommend!!!

Food was amazing. Service was terrible. We waited fifteen minutes for our order to be taken. When we were finished our main course we were asked if we wanted a dessert menu to which we replied yes. We then waited a further fifteen minutes and still they never appeared. We then went to pay the bill and told them we waited and we weren't happy. The gentleman taking the payment didn't know how to deal with our complaint and offered us to go and sit in the bar and he would bring the dessert menus. By this point it was too late and the notion for dessert was off us. He told us that he would have a word with our server but don't know if this happened. We weren't offered anything as a way of apologising.

We had a very pleasant dinner for two in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The food was very good. I had fish and chips with the fish particularly tasty, and my wife had the linguine. The service was just right - available when needed but the servers didn't keep bothering us to ask if everything was ok.

The food was very good, especially the main courses. The seating area was spacious and comfortable. The service was very good. The only disappointment was that, when I made the booking, I told them that it was my friend's 60th birthday but there was absolutely nothing done about this. Nothing. Yes, I will probably go back for lunch again but not if it is a special celebration.

We had a lovely family meal on Sunday evening. The service was fantastic so friendly and welcoming and the food was great especially the fish and chips and the sticky toffee pudding.

Excellent service although there seemed to be a shortage of staff but everyone pulled together. The guy who served us was incredibly pleasant even though he was under pressure !

We had a fantastic experience at the cultra inn. The service was absolutely fantastic. There was an issue with our table and we were changed to another of our choice and the treatment provided by all the staff was unbeatable. Made us feel super welcome. And we all really enjoyed our food. Special mention to Jenny, who couldn't have offered a better service.

Staff were unfailingly polite, and knowledgeable on the menu. I felt that they were struggling a bit as they appeared over stretched, but were trying to provide a good service. The food was tasty and the portions were of reasonable size

Myself and my sister had an amazing time. The meal was exquisite. I had the Catch of the day which was Salmon and my sister the steak both were cooked beautifully. Our waitress was Jenny who I cant comment highly enough of. She was exceptionally attentive, just the right level, not too much, however she predicted and acted upon eveything we needed. As we were staying in the hotel she even went completely above and beyond by giving us a lift in her car up to our accommodation as it was raining. She really is a credit to your establishment.

Hardly anyone in the restaurant. Staff were lovely but slow service. Food passable but nothing special. None of us were impressed. Restaurant is a lovely building but needs updated. Tired looking. Needs up the game for food as well. Would not rush back

The food was nice, however it took 50 minutes for the starters to come out. I’d understand if it was extremely busy but it was only at half capacity. They also brought the wrong beer out twice but that can happen to everyone, they brought out another peppercorn sauce without me asking then charged me £4 for it without disclosing that information.

Food was amazing! Everyone throughly enjoyed their meal. The head waitress was also amazing but we had to wait ages to be served. Unfortunately we were freezing as seated far away from the fires. Next time we will make sure we are seated closer

Food was good but service very slow, didn’t event clear plates. Also the drinks are extortionately expensive - £7+ a pint and £11 spirit and mixer. It’s Northern Ireland not London.

Did not eat. Only wanted a pint. No one serving at the bar. Apparently not uncommon. Got served after 10 min wait. I apologise for inconveniencing this establishment for the sheer audacity of wanting to be served and expecting that someone might be behind the bar.

Great food, great atmosphere only thing lacking was great service. Unfortunately, the Maitre-de was the busiest person there as a result if you managed catch his eye you got service, if not you were ignored.

When we arrived the staff couldn't find out reservation that we made about a month prior. Service was fast to start but after we finished our dinner, we had to wait 20+ minutes for our plates to be removed. When dessert and my cappuccino arrived, the cappuccino was freezing and I had to request a new one. I understand the staff was busy but it seemed like we were waiting a very long time to be seen to whilst other people were served before us. I think we were placed in between sections which could have caused the delay but still a bit annoying. Staff were nice and helpful but the wait times and the fact my reservation could not be found were a bit disappointing, especially as I was concerned we would not get a table initially.

Great Christmas / New Year lunch, brilliant service and wonderful desserts, 100% on the standard meal fare and the starters were tasty too 🤓

The food was great! Ambience was cosy and warm, and they are dog friendly at the bar area. Service was friendly but took rather too long. We waited about half an hour for drinks orders, and a further 50mins for our dinner to arrive. The buffalo wings were great, as was the butternut squash soup and chicken curry.

Great attentive staff as always, were happy to replace a relatives drink for a different one when she didn't like the taste of the cocktail. Food always tastes fresh and of good produce. Atmosphere is great, tables are spaced far enough for others not to be able to eavesdrop on your conversation, prices are very reasonable for the surroundings. Really enjoy dining here.

We went as a large group and the atmosphere, service and food was all excellent. I've never been before and would definitely go back, the meal was absolutely beautiful. We had children with us and the staff were patient and so helpful with them too. I'd highly recommend.

Went for the Santa Sunday lunch, 8 of us. The starters and main course where absolutely amazing (I had the beef) best beef I've had! But all the deserts seemed thrown together. My sons adult desert just had a wafer cone (broken) and sprinkled ontop. The children couldn't eat their cookies and they where rock hard. We come here every year at Christmas so next year would be great if deserts where paid as much attention as the rest of the meals. Amazing meal but for the price the deserts did not hit anyone's expectations

The food was lovely, the service kind and courteous, the venue spacious warm and inviting.

Cultra is a beautiful building. We decided to try as we have heard the food was good. When we first walked in the place was warm and cosy. It took a few minutes before a member of staff came to us then said they would be a minute we where left standing for 2 minutes before the person came back to us to take us to our seat’s. We couldn’t complain about the food every mouthful was amazing but what did let it down was the staff. We felt that the staff were not really on the ball with the service.

A beautiful meal for our wedding anniversary. The service was friendly and impeccable! The food was top notch and the cocktails were perfection. Great value for money too! Highly recommend

A table of five visiting for a Christmas lunch. The staff, the food and the facilities were out of this world. A fantastic start to the festive season for us. Very highly recommended and thank you everyone involved

The food delivery took almost an hour, forgot about our cocktails, so we had to remind.

The food was so delicious, no issues with food. Initally the wait to order was longer than expected; then there seem to be confusion with our order as the gentlemen taking the order was in training and he got our starters a little wrong but then a senior member of the team confirmed it and helped a diner with a specific orerr she needed. Then the length of time between us finishing our courses and the tabled being cleared was longer than we expected and each time I had to ask for our table to be cleared. Please know that this is only ment to be helpful and not a completely negative as the members of the team where wonderful when we spoke with them and apologies I didn't get their names but the lady with the beautiful tattoos was so lovely and polite and wonderful. The other senior team member that had dark haired was such a bubbly personality and was so kind.

It was a Thursday night and the restaurant was very quiet, so lacked atmosphere - The food was superb and although the staff were very friendly we felt the service could have been sharper and more attentive - I think the low numbers of dinners probably contributed to the slower pace of the team - We stayed in the hotel but live locally.

Food was delicious & lovely setting. Service was mixed a little slow at times. Possibly due to new servers and young, still learning. Had to ask for jug of water for table multiple times before it arrived.

Lovely, tasty meal with a surprise visit from Santa which delighted the grandchildren (& the adults!). Service from staff - who were all pleasant & friendly - was good if a little confused at times. Pleasant surroundings & atmosphere.

So the beef dish was amazing, I ordered sticky toffee pudding it looked good. It wasn't, the sauce on the plate was as thick as treacle. The pudding wasn't soft or moist, the texture just wasn't good. The service wasn't great, we had to ask for drinks, we had to ask can we order. The table next to us where an elderly couple , they completely forgot about them. That he had to go down and complain. Shame because its a nice venue and the main was amazing..

Lovely warming chicken curry on a cold Saturday evening hit the spot! As did the sticky toffee pudding 😁very busy staff but still made sure we had a warm welcome and quick chat. Excellent service and felt like valued customers. Warm atmosphere and easy parking.

Started off so well. Very friendly service. Beautiful food. We would’ve ordered desserts and coffee but nobody came near us after our main course. We sat and waited for quite a while then decided to get up and pay the bill. Pity really.

Lovely setting as ever homely and very pleasant. Had the burger and the ice cream slider for dessert. The burger sauce just wasn't right for a burger but was pleasantly suprised by the ice cream slider

Cultra Inn has a welcoming log fire and exceptionally friendly staff who make you feel right at home. Their scones are truly a treat, and I’d go as far as to say they serve the best fish and chips in all of Holywood. Plus, they’re dog-friendly, so you can enjoy a relaxing visit with your furry friends by your side. A perfect place to unwind and indulge!

Great atmosphere, the salmon was very good - my wife ordered chicken and it was bad. Very chewy and sadly overcooked. Borderline not edible. Would not order the chicken again. Should have sent it back.

The presentation of the food was disappointing and the taste was just okay. It wasn't bad enough to complain.
