We had a lovely evening at The George! The owners were friendly, accommodating and incredibly helpful. We were made to feel welcome and the pub felt really community focused. What a great spot - we will be back when next in the area. Highly recommend.

Contacted restaurant via telephone to ask if table available in 30 minutes, booking confirmed, arrived and male staff member wearing blue shirt, stated ah I don’t think we have that table available now!! Then they did, it felt a little uncomfortable, he was a little off and not the very friendly , not the nicest of welcome when we’d travelled 18 miles. Sat down, tables around free the whole duration we were there. a little chaotic with staff, very off putting. Starter, lovely, really tasty. Mains, took 38 minutes after starters had been taken away, beef really cold, 3 small roast potatoes, husband pork nice, again food on the cold side and average. Cauliflower cheese £6, an acquired taste, strong cheeses and seeds, tasty but would have probably not had that as a side if a better description to the ingredients on the menu. Felt very over priced for Sunday lunch, just average, nothing special. Beef, red cabbage, 2 carrots, Yorkshire pudding and 3 small roast potatoes. Drinks, all a little random, asked if I’d like a small Diet Coke or large, I said large! The next thing, I was charged for 2 glass bottles of Coke on the bill. £80 for an average Sunday lunch with not the best service really, we wouldn’t return sadly.

Christmas lunch was the worst ever food quality served for a premium price. The turkey was dry and rubbery, potatoes were black in the middle with little gravy. The Christmas pudding served was absolute disgusting, it couldn’t be eaten, made with some kind of cheese sauce. We complained, but no answer given or explanation to my email, absolutely disgraceful! DONT BOOK TGE CHRISTMAS LUNCH 2025
