Winteringham Fields in North Lincolnshire

What a fabulous lunch experience we have had today. We are experienced Michelin diners and this was in our top 5 (out of 46) As soon as you arrive you are greeted in the car park and ushered through for a pre-drink and some beautiful appetisers. You're then led in to meet James and his young, but clearly incredibly skillful brigade, before being shown to your table. We really loved this little touch. The kitchen is there in the dining room, think “chefs table” without the premium experience £ uplift! Everything served was just stunning. I eat absolutely anything, my wife is a vegetarian and the superlatives kept coming from us both. The service was attentive but un-intrusive, always there as soon as you needed anything, but there wasn’t an obsession to fill your glass with water. We chatted to James, ate amazing food and enjoyed the soundtrack. Just brilliant! There are only a handful of restaurants we’d revisit, this is one of them, next time we will stay the night. Did I mention it’s brilliant?

An unforgettable dining experience from start to finish! From the moment we arrived, we were treated like VIPs. As we pulled into the car park, a staff member was there to greet us, which really set the tone for the level of service we were about to experience. The real highlight for me was getting to meet the head chef in the kitchen. He took the time to personally explain the entire concept behind the menu, which added so much depth to the meal. It wasn’t just about eating delicious food – it was about understanding the thought and care behind each dish. The flavours throughout the meal were nothing short of intense. Each bite was a real explosion of taste, with unexpected combinations that worked perfectly together. You could tell every ingredient was chosen for a reason, and the attention to detail was next level. The staff were absolutely outstanding. Despite being a young team, they carried themselves with the confidence and skill of people who’ve been doing this for 50 years. The level of professionalism was truly impressive. Even the apprentice they had with them stood out, already showing great promise and fitting in seamlessly with the rest of the team. If you're after a truly unique dining experience with a personal touch and unforgettable flavours, I can't recommend Winteringham Fields enough. We’ll definitely be back!

What an incredible time at Winteringham Fields for my wife’s 40th birthday. We’ve been 4 times and each time it seems to get better. It has truly turned in to an immersive experience and being brought in through the kitchen really adds to that experience, as does being served by some of the chefs! 15 different plates of incredibly delicious local food, amazing wine and out-of-this world cocktails, thanks so much to the entire team for making the evening so special.

We have visited this fine restaurant several times before. This time, there was a new head chef, James and it was to be our first experience of the new dining and kitchen format where you sit close to the pass and can see the chefs at work. The chefs serve the dishes and the whole evening begins with a welcome at the pass with an amuse bouche from James. I have to say I was sceptical that this new approach would be an improvement but it definitely was. The whole thing seems more dynamic and modern and the chef is beginning to make his distinctive mark on the food which was superb and very creative. The staff led by Xavier at front of house are all superb and the young chefs who served us were really lovely, enthusiastic and committed to their food. We stayed in one of their excellent rooms on site. This is not a cheap experience (Michelin restaurants are generally not) but the food, the people and the overall standard makes it value for money. We shall return!

Our first visit and one of the most incredible experiences ever. Colin's faith in James and this incredible young team is testament to his cooking. The experience of watching the chef's at work at the open kitchen to having the chef's explain the food and how it was prepared. Truly a great experience and worthy of the awards to-date. Thanks for a very special experience.

We took advantage of one of the frequent offers that included a midweek overnight stay with the 8 course tasting menu, breakfast was an extra £20 but was honestly one of the best value breakfasts I’ve ever had! The room was quirky but excellent with everything we needed for a comfortable stay, the staff without exception were efficient and welcoming and seemed to be fully invested in making sure our every wish was catered for. And so we must of course mention the food, we have visited here before when Colin himself was at the helm then again when Gareth took the reins and I can confidently state that James as head chef certainly lives up to the very high standards we have come to expect from the Fields, each offering from the starters served in the lounge through the ‘tart and broth’ served at the pass by James himself to the last desert were a joy and so clearly crafted by passionate chefs and served with pride and professionalism. We loved it yet again and can’t wait to return again in the summer. Well done to all.

We love this place. Everything is immaculate. The food is stunning and the staff can not do enough for you. It's been 18 months since our first visit. In that time the Head Chef has changed, as has the restaurant. I'm pleased to say that it was still a wonderful, relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Our party of four were really looking forward to the new imersive experience? Sadly there wasn’t any ….nothing different to other times we had been apart from the walk through the kitchen on route to our table ……we didn’t see any food prepared or cooked at anytime ?…..not so imersive but paid extra!!…..mentioned this at reception to be told that it was unfortunate we were sat to far away from the kitchen to see in??

Fabulous room/suite with everything one could want. comfy bed and huge bathroom. In room coffee etc very nice and fresh milk and bottled water in the fridge. Staff were welcoming and check in so easy. The dinner was exceptional, every course delicious. They made a different canape for me to allow for allergies and there was nothing that I had to query on the menu. We had the breakfast with really good homemade jam, marmalade and curd. Was sad to leave.

£340 - 8 course taster for 2, could fit all the 'samples' on one plate. The lamb rib was just a line of fat, the miniscule piece of Pidgeon was simply unchewable and not a pleasant experience, the small piece of fish was ok as was the bread, but overall, i am still reeling at the price. My grown up children paid for this as a birthday present, and, to be brutally honest, i would not have paid any more than £40 for the experience. The setting was exceptional, but having tasted dishes from all corners of the world, this was a real let down, but again, £340 plus service charge.........!!!!!!!!!!

I suspect no-one visits Winteringham as a tourist attraction but there is a good reason to go which is Winteringham Fields Restaurant. (I must say the beer and welcome at the Bay Horse next door was also pretty good). It may have taken us over a decade to finally make it there for an overnight stay in a dog friendly room but it was worth it. 8 course tasting menu plus the very imaginative wine pairings were worth the money. Basically anyone who can make a potato dish (Potato and Eel) into a taste sensation has my vote. One dish each not to our taste, but you expect that in a tasting menu. Someone seems to have taken a great deal of time to source unusual wines from around the world and finding tastes and styles you wouldn't normally expect made the wine pairings a highlight. Accommodation felt a bit dated in style, but it was fine and we weren't there for anything other than the food.

I spent one night at winteringham fields to celebrate my partner’s birthday! We were upgraded to a deluxe room at no extra cost! We had the tasting menu for dinner! The food was great and portions were very generous! Service was also good and staff were very helpful! The room was very spacious and good facilities! However, there was an warning about taking anything away so you would be charged for it.., didn’t think that it was a very nice way to put it across… Breakfast emphasised products mainly for meat lovers! However, we had a nice breakfast but had to negotiate with the staff the night before! Suggest that more products should be available for non meat eaters! We loved our stay and hope to come back

Very friendly relaxed atmosphere with excellent food, great wine list and sumptuous rooms. It’s a taster menu and every course was excellent, one of us was pescatarian and they were very happy with the fish alternatives.

Stayed overnight as a couple. The food was absolutely superb. We had a 8-9 course tasting menu (do we count bread as a course?) the food was varied and superb. Delicious snacks beforehand were a lovely touch. The staff were warm, welcoming yet professional. We enjoyed meeting the chefs before our meal, a lovely touch. The wine flight was great, matched impeccably to the food. Comfortable bedroom with crisp starched linen. Breakfast was delicious too. If you get a chance, go!

This is an exceptional restaurant with a well deserved reputation. The experience is as expected from a fine dining tasting menu. Little twists like meeting the chef pre the meal make it even better. Wasn’t a dud course, all beautiful. Wine pairing was mainly white and not especially different from each one. Room felt a little tired but absolutely fine. Definitely worth the money

From our arrival drink to morning breakfast, this was beautiful. Loved the canapes and trip to the kitchen, and the following meal was amazing and fully justified the Michelin star. So looking forward to another visit in a different season. Thanks

We have nothing but good to say about our overnight stay, 8 course taster dinner and breakfast. From the warm welcome, spacious suite that we stayed in, to the attentive staff who helped make the dinner one of the best food experiences we have had. We had a lovely view of the kitchen from our table so, enjoyed watching the care and attention given to each dish. We were given beautiful descriptions about each dish and stories of each of the wines we tasted. The lovage broth that we drank with the chef in the kitchen at the start of our dinner symbolised for us Winteringham's love of growing and using their own herbs and vegetables. We will absolutely be returning again
