Average Sunday lunch. Not great, not poor just average. Being nearly Christmas the menu included Turkey which we had. There was a lot of food, in fact too much for the plates which made eating it difficult. Absolutely drowning in gravy as well. Vegetables were OK apart from the almost raw sprouts. I am not keen on mushy sprouts and prefer them to be firm but these were definitely not in the pan long enough. Service was very slow even though it was not too busy. They should invest in larger plates.

Sat at an outside table in the sun. I ordered Fish Tacos. Took a while to arrive as they were busy but worth the wait. The scones are my usual go to as they are amazing but they didn't have any left! Have eaten here many times but never experienced their Gin bar.

We stayed for 3 nights and ate every night ,the food was very tasty and we enjoyed it. Unfortunately we were slighly disappointed with our room, details were missed ,a lightbulb needed replacing and when I opened our curtain in the morning the window sealant around the panes had dripped and not been removed which looked extremely unpleasant. There was a loose tile in the shower. There were no hand towels only on that day When I mentioned the bulb and window to the staff on Tuesday afternoon they said that they would sort it out which they hadn't done when we returned on Wednesday. We felt that the room wasn't up to superior standard as expected . On the plus side the room and bathroom were toasty warm, the water perfectly warm and the towels very soft. The breakfast cooks were very good as were the breakfasts and Tia who served us our meal Monday and Wednesday evening was excellent.

Got vouchers as a gift and then was saddened to hear they were closing, love,y ride across to find it very welcoming inside, the menu was varied We had the lamb and shepherds pie, small portions but beautifully served hot and very tasty. The desserts were tasty and presented with a tasty dressing The Venue is excellent, the food was beautiful and the staff were an absolute credit to the owner, sad it is closing

SHOCKING / DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE!!! Table booked for Hobsons Choice which is a brilliant idea implemented by brilliant chef. Front of house treatment of customers extremely disgusting on an evening of -5 degrees outside . On arrival my party was lead through a wonderfully cosy snug part of the bar customers sat in tee shirts and jumpers..... through a door to 'the freezer!!' it was unbelievable the contrast and we questioned the polite young waitress if radiators could be turned up and were informed literally the glass in the log burner had only just broken that day and didnt allow time to get heaters!! This info came from the inexperienced new manageress and was an outright lie as we are told by locals the fire glass broke at Christmas time. So thankyou new manageress for ruining my friends birthday gathering by making us sit with our winter coats on and try and eat a delicious meal with chattering teeth literally!! No communication or compensation was offered by the manageress who needs to realise in this game the buck stops with You!! And clear caring communication and the offer of blankets and warm drinks could have melted our hearts but alas you failed miserably!!!!

After a visit to the Polar Express we decided The Reuben’s looked like a good option for dinner. Oh how wrong we were, the food was dreadful, our children opted for the home made Pizza with chips and beans, they took one bite of the pizza and that was it. It didn’t look great and after trying it myself I couldn’t bring myself to force the children to eat anymore. My wife had the beef pie and that was poor with poor quality meat and the pastry was rock hard, the accompanying veg was also dry and some of the carrots were black. I had the Lamb Curry, the meat in it was tough and more like mutton and the curry itself was not very tasty at all. I decided to finish with a latte that tasted like hot water with frothy milk! Onto the service, not once were we asked how our meal was and given the waitress took every plate back to the kitchen with at least 50% of the food remaining on the plates, my first question would have been was everything okay with your meal. But nope the waitress did not enquire if everything was okay, my wife even said to the waitress that the kids food was inedible which the waitress did not acknowledge! The service was slow and the staff not very attentive focusing more on the locals in the bar. Whilst waiting to order we enquired as to what the soup was the waitress wasn’t sure and went off to find out never to return with the answer! I am not one to complain and have never left a review of anything previously but given our experience was so poor I felt compelled to write this review.
