The best restaurants serving British food in The Meres Shropshire West Midlands

Just left after having plenty of lovely meals here in past, this will be the last visit. Bar area full however only one other table in the restaurant having food, service was extremely slow..we ended up leaving after waiting nearly 40mins for our mains to be cleared to order desert, waited 40 mins for the food to start with. We wouldn't mind when busy however, focus is on the bar only. Strong smelling substances clearly being used (greeted with this on the main entrance) here so very unpleasant for a family visit.

Absolute gem of a pub - staying locally and had read reviews so booked in advance. Great menu choice, fabulous atmosphere and very friendly and efficient service. The pub was full but we were served quickly. Starters are huge and my husband said it was best steak he had eaten in a long time. We were so full, we couldn’t eat a pudding sadly. It was so good we booked again. Thoroughly recommend if in area.

We visited here for my partners birthday meal as his parents are local to the village. The staff were friendly and food was very good. We have been here before and always enjoyed it. The restaurant has a large menu with lots of options for nibbles, starters, mains, grill menu and chef specials. Stayed her for 4 nights wish having a break with friends. The owners are friendly,and really welcoming. The breakfasts are spot on and cooked to order and of a really high quality. We ate in the restaurant all 4 nights -again the food was excellent loads of choice so there was no issues being in the same place 4 nights running. Our room was plenty large enough, loads of storage and a good sized bathroom which would benefit from a blind on the window 😁 This is a great place to stay if you want to visit Shrewsbury and everything it has to offer

The hunters chicken was amazing, the best I've had. Fish and chips was good as well along with the pie. Clean plates!!!!

Food was good and the manager Gareth you and ur team summer, Mia, Cameron, brooke. Was really good and looked after us even made sure my husband food was done separate has he allegiance to things so thank you and ur team was so polite and caring so I would recommend this place to anyone it a lovely place
