We have been here many times and have always had great food and good service, however, today was different. We had a 1.30pm booking which we arrived on time for. The pub was mobbed which was great to see. This was my mums 4th anniversary of her passing and we had invited our daughter and family. Drinks order was taken and delivered and our food order was also taken and all was well. However, after waiting for 1 hour and 15 minutes and seeing people who hadn’t even arrived before us, tucking into their food, we asked where ours was, especially as we had our 3 year old granddaughter with us, who kept saying she was hungry. The waitress came up and said that the food order hadn’t printed and apologised, saying our drinks would be free and the food would be with us in 5 minutes. 15 minutes later it arrived and was lovely. I have to say, this experience did put me into a mood especially as 2 of us had fish and chips and our granddaughter had the chicken goujons and we asked for tomato ketchup, which was delivered in a ridiculously small quantity, which I really didn’t understand as it was for 3 people. Ok, I made my feelings clear by then, not rude but clear, however, the waitress was not impressed. When we eventually got our food, we were asked a number of times how our food was, yet not one of them noticed that we hadn’t received our food after well over an hour. I think the biggest issue was, they felt giving us our drinks free was all they needed to do. Whilst this was fair, not one person when we paid, came out and apologised about the very poor experience we had today. We didn’t go there to get free drinks but to have an enjoyable meal to mark my mums anniversary.

Great food. Staff spot on for service and politeness with a smile. We had a family get together of 8 and everyone enjoyed their food. I had pea and pesto risotto with goats cheese which is as exceptional and the ginger sponge (very tasty and ample portion). Visiting family who live in Loppington but will come again on our next visit Thanks for a great experience 👍

Having eaten at the Dickin Arms many times in the past and always found the food to be excellent the service efficient and the staff courteous and polite, My wife rang on Wednesday 19th May, to enquire about the current Covid procedures and to book a table for lunch for ourselves and two friends ( our first trip out for a meal for almost 12 months). She spoke to female who told her in a terse and rude manner to "ring back in half an hour". Needless to say she didn't "ring back in half an hour", and we now have no intention of ever visiting the Dickin Arms again. Unless this is the standard of customer service that this establishment deems acceptable, then I suggest they urgently review their staff training policy, because this is simply unacceptable

I've been meaning to put this review up for a while now, so here it is. My wife and I came at the start of August during the 'eat out to help out'. The food and atmosphere were exceptional. All the staff were following the correct COVID procedures and were very friendly and attentive throughout the evening. We had the T-Bone and Filet steak which were both cooked to perfection and bursting with natural flavour. The wine was lovely and complemented it very well. It is always nice to find somewhere new out of town and the Dicken Arms is well worth the trip. We're back again this weekend!

Have eaten at The Dickin Arms, Loppington a fair few times and I have never had a bad meal or service. This last visit was with a friend to take advantage of the EOTHO scheme. On arrival we were asked to use hand sanitiser and sign in for Track and Trace purposes. The restaurant was very busy, but tables suitably distanced re Covid. Staff wore face masks. I ordered a mix of 2 starters and 2 sides instead of a main and I definitely over ordered as portions were large. The pie of the day was ordered by my friend. All the food was absolutely delicious, in fact I'd go so far as to say the best I've had there! Well worth a visit! Will be back - already booked in fact!

Pub is nice and the staff were friendly enough. Paid £30 for a fillet steak with pepper sauce and asked for medium rare. Steak came out without a steak knife and I couldn't even cut through it so asked for a steak knife, still struggled to cut through it. The plate was swimming in fat and blood so clearly it hadn't been left to rest properly. The waitress came to collect plates at the end and asked how the meal was to which I replied 'really bad, I struggled to cut through steak', she apologised and said she will let the chef know but then proceeded to give me my full bill. When you pay £30 for a steak you expect a chef who has the ability to cook it properly!!

My husband and I visited for the first time for Sunday lunch and were really impressed with everything. It's a really cosy place with different rooms so something for everyone's taste. There is a log burner and sofas for drinks and a bar snack or a couple of different dining rooms for a more formal meal. It's got a lovely country feel and the staff were really welcoming and friendly. We both chose the roast and had the medium size of all 3 meats, it was fabulous. Great that there is a choice of small medium or large depending how hungry you are. It's a little bit of a trek from where we live but definitely worth it and we will be back for an evening meal and lunch at some point.

Visited for first time and was well pleased with service and food watching rugby in upstairs room. However after match moved downstairs for a further drink. I ordered a large pinot wine for my partner and was told was £9.80! I queried this and the tall girl with glasses and pink highlights in her hair serving me said it was correct. After paying in disbelief I then approached the lad behind the bar who had served us upstairs. Have to say his customer service is excellent. I asked him the ptice and he looked it up and said £6.70. I told him been overcharged and he immediately refunded the difference. So..some training issues required here in my opinion. How many others did she overcharge that night? Just saying...always check.

We had been recommended The Dickin Arms by friends so 8 of us travelled out for the evening and we were delighted to find that it was worth the drive on a dark and wet January night. Out of the whole evening the only slight negative happened within the first minute of arriving, making our way through the bar to our table there were some couples having a drink stood at the bar and when the oldest member of our party asked a polite and repeated excuse me to pass she was ignored and eventually had to shimmy through a gap, when I repeated the process I was ignored and given a 'look' but this was a reflection on those individuals and not at all on the venue. We were shown to our table by a young very polite waitress and drinks were offered along with the menus. It took us some time to choose from the menu and the specials board but our request for extra time was granted with no issue at all. Much indecisive too-ing and fro-ing later decisions had been made and we weren't disappointed! One member of the party had food allergies which were accommodated well. The award for best starter was given to the bucket of whitbait which was delicious, hot and crispy. The staff were just the right amount of attentive and drinks offered regularly. Main course was a triumph, the T-Bone Steak was absolutely huge and was perfect according to my husband, my sisters selection of tapas style dishes were just the right size, well presented and very tasty. There were a couple of us who whilst having no complaint at all about their food had confessed to some serious food envy so we'd planned another visit before we'd even finished this one! The winning dish of the evening went to my aunt's pork medallion stroganoff, it looked great, the portion was excellent and was declared yummy! It's a rare occasion when most of our party decides on having 3 courses, especially after generous main course portions but no one could resist. The second waitress of the evening was very patient when our decision making veered off into a debate over icecream flavours and had a joke with us all when she came back to apologise that the pistachio was sold out.The whole evening was an absolute delight, finished off by being pleasantly surprised by the bill when it arrived at the end of the night. Good service and excellent food all round means we will return.

Went for lunch earlier today, 25th January 2020, with 10 others. Came in to a very warm welcome from the staff, pointed out our table promptly.Staters were lovely, I had the pork belly, plenty of it and delicous, followed by the sirloin, again cooked exactly how I ordered, medium and melted in my mouth.Everything for everyone was served within a couple of minutes, great service from a place probably more used to 2 and 4 people groups, very impressed.Salted caramel ice cream for dessert along with a licquer coffee, was again lovely.Pricewise not the cheapest but certainly not expensive, great value for money.Summing up, lovely surroundings, friendly staff, great food, good value, will definitely be going again and very soon, a good 5 thumbs up for The Dickens Arms.

Forget the rest. Rare roast beef and tender pork!! Dropped in on the off chance of a table. Had 2 roast dinners that were beautiful, the staff were superb too. Visit number 3 will follow.

seating is comfortable.Tapas starters for 4 to share, ordered 4 total, but only 3 pieces fish and 3 pieces garlic bread ,prawn and chorizo a delight, and no side plates,so ate salad that came with it off napkins, although lovely.

Visited pub on a Thursday evening ,enjoyed excellent meal bursting with flavour, so many lovely things on menu hard to choose. We will be definitely returning with family. Best part of the visit was amazing staff , nothing too much trouble bringing our food/drinks outside to sit in the sun. It is refreshing that everyone we came into contact were friendly, responsive and actually wanted us to be there... not always the case at some restaurants. Obviously well trained young people, thank you for making our visit enjoyable.

Very nicely refurbished - open plan kitchen is a nice detail, as it encourages the thought that nothing dodgy is going on behind the scenes! Plenty of choice on the menu and specials in addition. Our meals were delicious - decent sized portions and well presented. There is also a very well stocked bar with a good range of ales and wines.

We had heard that the Dicken had had a make over and that the food was good. We were not disappointed. The new décor is a vast improvement it is light and comfortable. There a bar area where there is comfortable seating dogs muddy boots etc all welcome. The dinning area is well presented and the roast beef Sunday lunch followed by a wonderful cheese board was superb. Friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended

Super, fresh and warm pub, even for those that forget to book! I was served a scummy meal of sizzling beef followed by a tagine of Moroccan Lamb with fruit and nutty cous cous. Such yummy food, with generous serving. If you love food served in a warm and friendly place with gorgeous staff this is the best place by far.

We visited as a family of 4 whilst on holiday. We had a lovely meal. 2 specials board pasta with ragu sauce with garlic bread, 1 beef and ale pie and 1 sausages/mash/onion gravy. All of the meals were lovely. The desserts of white choc and choc brownie and cookie and ice -cream were very good.

Visited for a special occasion nice atmosphere, however upon receiving the menu as a vegetarian the menu was very poor. The only thing suitable was salad which was £14.95, rather over the top. Menu fine if you're a carnivore but still quite expensive. Service was fine and staff pleasant My wife had a fish dish that was basically swimming in too much sauce. Unless the improve the menu and think about the prices they charge, we will not return

The service was friendly and the food absolutely first-rate. Can recommend the Ploughman’s which is loaded with cheese, really top notch ham, and lovely crusty bread. Would have loved to stay for cake but we were all too full.

we always try to come here when we can get in and don’t fancy cooking one ourselves. the meat selection is always good and very generous, their roast potatoes are the best - lovely and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. it is a carvery so can help yourself. they unfortunately don’t have any mash but we just add extra roasties! their gravy is lovely and homemade with the meat juices in. the staff are lovely and attentive. our favourite place to go for sunday lunch!

We booked for dinner as we knew the White Lion had reopened for food with a new chef. We were not disappointed the food was delicious, we had the rib eye steak, the sea bass special and the penne vodka. All were beautifully cooked and served. The service was great and the staff were friendly. We will definitely be eating here again.

We are regular visitors to the Red Lion in Myddle. We return every time because the food and service is second to none. We always receive a warm welcome and we know how hard Pete and Jackie and staff work to make sure that their guests are not disappointed. If you fancy a meal out around Shrewsbury (lunch or dinner) then look no further than the Red Lion. You won’t regret it.
