Sort of stumbled across this lovely pub, last Saturday, whilst looking for somewhere dog-friendly to eat. We were welcomed in, and the food was excellent.

Really good hotel and the rooms in a separate house so quiet and nice. The rooms was big the bed nice the good pillows. The most things you need was in the room the hairdryer there not good and we had wanted shampoo. But the breakfast and dinner was lovely the host and staff so helpful and friendly. We will be back. The outside area and bar so lovely.

We came in for lunch as this menu suited us better than the dinner menu. Fairly quiet for a mid-week lunchtime which didn’t do much for the atmosphere but bar service was excellent and the meals we ordered were all exactly as advertised and very tasty. Also reasonably priced for a pub menu these days. Intended to return for steak night but unfortunately missed out. Recommended.

We went to the Burlton today for lunch, we were looked after extremely well, by the lovely young waitress, nothing was too much trouble. The four of us all had different main courses but they all came out at the same time and perfectly presented. Ennio came out and personally greeted us which was very nice touch. It was such a shame that there was only the four of us dining, I know January is a difficult month, but please put the Burlton on your list for a visit soon, don't let us lose another pub.

Visited for an 80th birthday celebration. Lovely little pub with good service and good food and a selection so varied it was hard to choose - only complaint heard at the table was that it was a pity there wasn't more! Very modern decor although the chairs weren't ideal for the shorter members of the party. I was very much looking forward to the rice pudding but there was an hour's wait and I don't have quite that amount of leisure time, but I'm glad to know it's freshly made. If you don't mind facing off with a dead deer whilst you eat, I highly recommend. No Wi-Fi and no phone signal so the family are forced to interact!Looking forward to returning!

My husband and I were there this evening to celebrate my birthday. We were the only guest at the time but by the time we left it was getting quite busy. We were really impressed by the decor and lovely relaxing atmosphere. We ordered a drink and were shown to our table by the young lady and proceeded to select two starters and 2 mains. The starters arrived punctually and were really good; mine being chicken skewers and salad and my husband ordered prawn cocktail. Then the mains arrived. My husband had ordered the cheese and onion pie with fries and veg and I ordered the Brie and goat cheese tart with tomatoes and red onions. The cheese and onion pie was just awful. Advertised as 4 cheeses it was mainly mashed potatoes with hardly any onion and some cheese but the over riding flavour was potato. My tart was burned around the edges and on the bottom and I ate the centre only. I was saddened as the place itself is lovely inside and the young lady who served us was very friendly and efficient. We did mention to her of the problems concerning my husband's meal but didnt mention mine as I figured she had enough to deal with as the place was getting busier by then. We paid the bill and left.I hate doing reviews like this and usually either write a good report or if a place isnt great I say nothing. So by my writing this it speaks volumes as to how we felt. I really hope it was an off day hey, we all have them but it is a case of buyer beware. I wish them well and hope that it was just a one off. The place really is a joy for the eyes just not a feast for the palate.

We visited The Burlton Inn a couple of months ago and had a lovely meal. Thought we would go there again with family as part of a celebration for a Golden Wedding Anniversary, there were eight in our party. We arrived just before 7pm as per our booking and we were served drinks and shown to our table. It was 8pm before our order was even taken, people that came in after us were served first and had their food before anyone took our order. The food was ok but nothing special, two people had the Burlton Burger and reported that the meat was tough and took it home to give to the dog! Previously the man who I believe to be the manager served us and was very pleasant and thoughtful and couldn’t do enough to help but on this occasion he wasn’t there and the staff did nothing to make the occasion feel in any way special.

We were fortunate to get a table and the food was amazing. My friend is lactose intolerant and this was not an issue. Food was delicious and the rice pudding and warm jam was out of this world. As we had lunch late I didn't feel like cooking a sunday roast back home when it was time to leave so I asked if they did food to take away as my son (18) would miss out on his sunday roast. This was something that they didn't usually do but their no problem Im sure we can do something attitude was a welcome relief. Plus my son was happy and impressed with his roast.

Drove out to have lunch on the Tuesday and learned they are not doing lunches on Monday and Tuesday as of now. Disappointing, went elsewhere. Returned today and thought we'd be in with a good lunchtime crowd having fun but I think there was just one other table of customers having a meal. They've changed the menu which was bound to happen I suppose after a few years but the favorite steak sandwich was no longer! Prices have gone up and that is somewhat of a given also. They do table service now but it still takes a bit of time to get the food to your table, The jovial landlord was in but wasn't spreading his personality around the inn so with that it was a bit lacking. The peppered beef sandwich is ok but you think they could put a few chips on the side...on the other hand the Scampi in a Basket has enough chips for 3 people! We've been and we don't really feel the need to return--a shame really.

Recently ate at the Burlton Inn for the first time and was really impressed with the décor and ambience of the pub/restaurant, all very tasteful. A really pleasant environment with nice friendly staff and a relaxed feel. The food was simple but well cooked, presented and served, at a sensible price, all good. However we stayed over in one of the annex rooms and in comparison to the pub it was a little disappointing. Whilst it was adequate, clean and simple, having seen the pub we expected more. It was perfectly acceptable for the odd night but not a "destination". The beds were a bit hard, however the cleanliness was excellent, so no complaints there.

Very disappointing overall. Had to chase to place order, get tables cleared and for her to get her pad to order 3 desserts!. There was only one woman serving who didn't really seem up to the job. The Brie starter was nice if you like a huge pile of salad and very little brie - over expensive too! Had to ask twice for extra mash and the slow cooked lamb shanks were disappointing. I asked for a sticky toffee pudding with custard and was served a large piece of dry looking cake with fruit in it. Im not sure toffee had been anywhere near this cake. I did not order a fruit cake and it did not state fruit on the menu, so I raised this with woman serving who proceeded to announce loudly quite a few times that all sticky toffee puddings have dates in them - hmmmm! She took it away and then came back and said it would be taken off the bill. Did she think there was any alternative after what I had just put up with?!Won't go back until they change staff and are more clear with the menu (shame as I have been here before and enjoyed it)

The pub has been recently refurbished but manages to retain a welcoming "pubby" atmosphere; busy with locals as well as visitors. The staff are very friendly and, unlike many pubs, you can just drop in for a drink without having a menu thrust at you. Having said that, the food is so good we visited twice. The first time we both had the sirloin steak with all the trimmings - excellent flavour and cooked just as we wanted. The second visit we had the baked salmon fillet from the menu and the red snapper (served with rice and sweet & sour sauce - sounds strange, but it worked) from the Special's board. We finished of with the cheese board shared between us.All our meals were good, and quite good value. The wine went down a treat as well.

We visited here for lunch on Friday 21st April 2017. We were greeted very warmly by the landlord. The pub is very smart with bright modern décor which complimented the building. The Unicorn, for my partner, was on form. I chose gin and tonic and was introduced to something different. Gin from a distillery in Belgium and it did not disappoint. Very pleasing to the palate. We ordered home made fish fingers on ciabatta for lunch with a side salad and chips. Freshly made and delicious.Bev, the manageress, who was very professional and polite, showed us around the accommodation which was across the car park and away from the main road. All rooms were clean and fresh looking with very modern and bright rooms and comparatively large bathrooms. Dogs are welcome too.Very impressed and would recommend .

We were a party of eight, a family outing for a birthday celebration. The greeting from the woman behind the bar was very friendly and drinks were ordered and served. We sat down and looked at the menu which seemed reasonable. Twenty minutes later our order had still not been taken, I asked and was told there was a backlog in the kitchen. Perhaps the coach party had left just before we got there! Nearly an hour later we finally got some food! Starters were okay, so we looked forward to mains, but were very disappointed. I don't think that there was a single home-cooked piece of food there. I would have complained there and then, but having waited so long, by then I just wanted to go home. We had intended to have puddings but couldn't contemplate waiting any longer. There was a sole waitress who really wasn't up to the job and seemed completely incapable of remembering who had ordered what. It has been many years since our last visit to this pub, and I can assure it will be many more years before we visit again.

We have eaten at the Burlton a number of times over the last month, the food is well cooked and served, the choice is great my only negative is the lack of a good bitter beer, being a pub owned by a brewery limits the choice

From the outside you could be forgiven for passing by, but go inside and you will soon see why you should stop. The atmosphere is good, interior is well laid out and inviting, and the food is very good. The landlord and his team are very welcoming.

Attended this evening for a birthday meal in a party of 8. We were greeted and offered drinks at the bar initially and shown to our table. Then had to wait over 30 mins before orders were taken. Upon asking one waitress around 20 mins in we were told there was a "build up in the kitchen" (There was around a dozen other people in there maximum and most only drinking, so god knows how this occurred).Onto the food; well when it does arrive, and is served in a dreadful manner by the worst waiting staff I've ever seen, not rude just dull and frankly useless. It left a lot to be desired. Clearly not all fresh at all, and nothing that even the worst of cooks couldn't manage at home. I personally ordered the 8oz "prime" burger as it states on the menu. It arrived and looked okayish until closer inspection. The shrivelled charred piece of meat could have, even before being ruined, been at most 6oz and I'd say more like 4oz if I'm honest and it certainly shouldn't have been described as "prime"... not only this but there was a huge chunk of cheese in there as if someone was grating it and a chunk fell off and they just left it in there. Talking around the size of a golf ball. I had to laugh to be honest. The other members of the party were all relatively unimpressed with theirs too. Steaks over cooked, fish clearly not fresh. It's not expensive I suppose but still nothing like good value... Given the majority of good reviews I expected a lot more. I certainly won't be returning.

We arrived late early evening to a reasonably busy pub. We are not from this area and had passed this pub several times on our travels and thought we would give it a try. We were welcomed by a real gent (I assume the GM/landlord). We asked if we could have a table for 12, he didn't seem at all phased with the request, despite it being very busy.He came back after having a look and said he wouldn't be beaten and would never let anyone down! They made a real effort to juggle tables round and joked his second job was working for "Pickfords".The menu is good and reasonably priced. The food itself was lovely and of a very good standard. Some may say the portions were not overly big but we all agreed the qaulity was "as good as your Gran's".The small team including the GM were busy but happy at all times. There was another older gent serving alongside the GM and he was polite, courteous and professional. The one thing that really stood out from other pubs we visited in the area was his general persona and personality. He obviously loves his job and is proud of the smart decor and interior of his establishment. He even came back to compliment us on how our children behaved, stating "In all his years of working, he had never seen such well behaved children". We all left with full bellies, smiling faces and a pleasant feel to the end of our holiday and this is because of the Burlton Inn and the man in charge! If only we had a place that was like this near where we lived!Give the place a go guys, you won't be disapointed and a pat on the back to Robinsons for employing such a committed team and Manager.

We visited as a family of three for Sunday lunch. The overall impression is gastro pub , warm cozy nicely decorated. Good size menu, not too big but something for everyone. The men in the party had the roast which was a combination of pork , lamb or beef . The Yorkshire pudding was home made and beautifully light and fluffy, the veg was perfectly cooked. For desserts we had a rice pudding, a sticky toffee pudding and a cheese board. All well presented and home made. Good hearty pub food done with style.

Visited this lovely country pub following recommendations from neighbours. The menu is small but full of home made dishes. As a group of 4 we enjoyed chicken and Stilton pie and vegetables, gammon, sweetcorn, chips and pineapple, chilli con carne and a really meaty pork chop, chips and peas. Really good home cooked food so much better than the normal pub grub. It also means the menu changes regularly. Sensibly priced making eating out a pleasure. Desserts just had to be tried. The whisky bread and butter pudding was suitably named and the apple crumble with custard was a winner too. The Sunday roast advertised at £9.30 will have to be tried another weekend. Delicious home cooked food is always so much better than bought in dishes. We praised the chef and June for a lovely warm welcome and a great meal.

I must echo the views of others. A really lovely restaurant spoiled by sparrows landing on the the table where cakes are being cut and on uncleared tables. Very unhygienic - there must be a way to stop them coming into the tearooms. Never encountered it anywhere else. Health and safety would have a field day!
