Cosy but spacious pub in a lovely little town. There's a great atmosphere, wonderful staff and tasty beer! I saw my friend, a musician called Connor Pursell play here and it was a wonderful evening. Especially when I mentioned to the bar staff I would love to play there myself, they said they were booked all year, then at the end of the night asked me to play a song instead of checking me up online, which was unexpected and wonderful however I was slightly drunk and very unprepared... Hallelujah still went down very well but that's easy with such a great crowd! Thank you 💛

Great pub in a nice location with a beer garden as well. I particularly enjoy the cocktails and the bottled cider selection, but they have a wide range of lagers, ciders, ales etc on tap.

I have been visiting The Old Town Hall Vaults, (affectionately known locally as “The Backies”) since it taken over by local brewery Joules about ten years ago. This is a real pub with a good crowd of regulars, great selection of beers at sensible prices, regular feature nights inc. live music most Saturdays. Best of all wonderful staff, give it a try, you may become a regular !!!

Had a selection of their ‘backies bites’ and a ploughmans platter to share after a long day on the canal. Wonderful!! Highly recommend the chicken dippers too - the batter was divine. Really friendly service, good selection of drinks in a lovely old style pub. And to top it off, dog friendly too so we all had a great time and will add this to the place to visit on our next trip here.

True old fashioned pub - clean nice and tidy pub full of characters - would definitely visit again for what I am told are exceptional sausage rolls on a Friday. Only downside was a lady fast approaching sixty grinding in the corner on a man in his fifties. Not necessary in public so perhaps a quiet word from the manger in future but other than that a fantastic old style public house

Popped in on the off chance because our regular venu was closed. The place was deserted, with only two tables occupied, which is generally an ominous sign for me. However, the waiter was very genial and the meal was excellent. We did consider the sandwich menu a tad expensive so opted for the breakfast at two o’clock in the afternoon! We were not disappointed. My partner had the full ‘Carriages’ breakfast, and I was pleasantly surprised to see I was able to make a selection from individually priced items, thereby creating a personalised breakfast. We were also offered a choice of how we would like our eggs prepared. I have had many breakfasts in my time but this was, without doubt, the very best. The presentation was faultless and it was cooked to perfection. The coffees we ordered were also excellent. On reflection we decided that perhaps the sandwiches might have turned out to be worth their price tag so will definitely be going back to find out! One final consideration was the toilets. So often I leave a venu, never to return, because of the poor condition of the toilets. However their toilets were pristine with complimentary hygiene products available. I am only surprised by how quiet it was. I appreciate that it is primarily an events venu but, if you haven’t done so already, then I recommend popping in for lunch.
