We had our wedding evening party here and we couldn't have been happier. Bronte was available for all requests and made sure the evening went smoothly, Paddy behind the bar was a credit too. The price for what we received was by far the cheapest option we looked at, but you really couldn't tell. They catered for all diatery needs and there was a DJ included in the price, we opted to hire our own band which was no problem. *Photos to follow We can't thank Bronte, Ash, Paddy, Dan and the rest of the team enough. Been a few times, it's always been good, but this time service was slow. Twenty minutes before we got a drink, flatbreads were hard, only managed five drinks in the two hour slot. You need more staff for events such as this, or reduce the number of bookings. Sorry to say we were very disappointed compared to our previous visits.

We have had amazing bottomless brunch before but today was disappointing. Prosecco was given out to everyone although we never received ours til 14.05 and the men who don’t drink it never got their first drink til 14.21 but at 355 we were told we aren’t allowed anymore drinks as the two hours our up. So we ended up with an hour and a half just over so disappointing.

Been to several bottomless brunches before and have been great but today we only had 4 drinks each in two hours. We were given half a glass of prosecco on arrival but didn't get our first selected drinks until twenty minutes in. Not enough staff, not enough drinks.!!! Very disappointing

Visited for a baby shower with tea/lunch included On arrival place looked lovely with tables decorated and lovely background for photos however; - Music not working, kept going off so a guest was offered to use their phone set to speakers. Kept going off but not as bad but not a great atmosphere - Horrible loud whooshing noise on and off constantly coming from bar area - Tea served quite late into the booking and was served on huge long platters set for 2 I think but our table had 5 people and the next 2 - our table had 2 vegetarian but their choice was not that appealing or much on it and their platter on the table meant that we couldn’t fit another one on the table. There weee things like n the non veggie that they could have had and as starving we were passing them cheese sandwiches and cakes along the table to top them up! Had to keep passing stuff around but platters too heavy to lift and no servers available so a bit awkward. Not many sandwiches and very plain. Cream and Jam having to be passed around as put on a couple of tables not all - Deserts lovely but sandwich fingers quite dull and not enough. - tea and coffee served after food not with it! Again having to pass milk and sugar around as put on a couple of tables but not all Staff did a couple of baby quizzes/games at the end but pretty short/uneventful Shame as place lovely and normal menu looks fab but need to re think the tea serving and table arrangements for larger groups as the platters don’t work and serve the drinks before or with the lunch

Just had our daughters baby shower at carriages Oswestry, an amazing afternoon was had by all. Catered for all our tastes including vegetarian and gluten free. A big thank you to Laura and co. For making it a memorable day. We will be back

Visited one recent Sunday for brunch. We arrived well within the advertised opening hours, but found the place well and truly closed. While I understand that sometimes opening hours might vary, there was no notice mentioning altered hours on the website, and no note on the door explaining the situation, or saying when it would open again. This was frustrating, as we'd chosen the place specially for a relative with mobility issues, and there were not many other suitable options in Oswestry on a Sunday. I hope to update this review at some time in the future if I do visit, but on this occasion I felt the business made a mistake not to keep potential customers informed.

Dropped in as complete strangers and found the Senior Special. Absolutely brilliant!! To OAPs £10 for lunch isn’t a daily extravagance but once in a while, if I lived around here, I know where I would go!!

Maybe lovely in the evening but for a coffee in the day Terrible. Sooooo slow My friend had to ask for sugar twice, it finally came when the tea was cold. I asked, do they have any cakes, I will go and look she said, but never came back. It a beautiful room, but come on, the service is abysmal Train your staff

This is were I usually say about a lovely welcome, but we were ignored, so we found a table and waited. Eventually a lady came over and said yes, we asked for menus. The menu was good, a bit of something for everyone. We decided on soup and a sandwich. The choice was mushroom, tomato or chicken, we both went for chicken. My Mum asked for a prawn sandwich, which they didn't do, but I figured that they did prawn cocktail, so she went to check, no problem. I ordered the chicken and stuffing. We had an oat milk latte and a glass of water. Sadly the latte came out with a wooden stir, considering the price, I thought it was a cheek. After 15 minutes, she came back saying no prawns. So Mum had cheese & spring onion. The latte was OK, I've had better. Our soups arrived with bread & butter. It was really hot and tasty. Our sandwiches arrived brought out by the friendly happy chef.. the sandwiches were well made, thick bloomer bread, salad and doritos. We decided on a sundae.I also ordered a cup of tea. The sundae came out and it was huge, but Mum managed it. The tea came out in a mug, with the obligatory wooden stirrer. The chef came and cleared our dishes, we had a lovely chat to her. She pointed out we had to input my car reg. I paid the bill which was £38, a bit steep for what we had. We enjoyed our visit, but the service let it down as did the stirrers

We had a surprise baby shower booked and ohh my gosh! It was amazing! Couldn’t fault them one bit, the room looked amazing! Food was perfect and there was plenty of it! The whole team were amazing and helped with it all! The balloon arch was brilliant and the help of the Carriages team were there to help with anything they could! So welcoming and we all had so much fun! Games were brilliant and everyone enjoyed them! Couldn’t fault them one bit! Will be returning!!

We went for the bottomless brunch here last Saturday, the food was ok nothing special, chips were nice, chicken skewers were tiny, run out of pancakes, waffles looked OK, it all looked like it came from Iceland to be fair, but there was plenty of it. I guess we made up for it in drinks! I really wanted to give one of the young ladies a shout out though, she was running around after everyone making sure they had enough of everything.....superstar! (she had a South wales accent, sorry didn't catch your name) The other three ladies didn't look so busy!

Had the brunch here about 18 months ago and couldn't fault it. Was so excited to go back, but I am disappointed to say that the food standard was extremely poor. It was clear that it was all frozen supermarket party food (and I'm not sure if that's an insult to the supermarkets) the falafel were like mini rocks and were inedible. The Indian platter for 2 comprised of 2 tini bhaji, 2 tiny samosa and a pile of mini poppadoms that had been tipped out of a bag onto the plate...hardly a platter. The loaded garlic bread was cheap sliced garlic bread with a single cube of bacon and 2 tiny bits of grated cheese...hardly loaded! I guess the only positive is you get your money's worth from the alcohol (but only one glass at a time, no doubles). Won't be back which is a shame because it used to be great!

Only went for coffee but was very impressed by the place. The indoor decor is lovely. It looks like a large tent, with the beautiful awnings on the roof. It features a Harley Davidson motorbike as the centerpiece.

We went for afternoon tea on 14th Dec and WOW we were not disappointed, there was so much food, the price was brilliant, the vegetarian choice was very good as one of our friends is a vegetarian and she said the choices were amazing. The interior decor is lovely and we had plenty of space to relax. The staff were very attentive but not in your face which meant we had a lovely afternoon. Three of our friends had not been before and will certainly be recommending Carriages to all their friends. Looking forward to going back.

I was invited to tea with my friend for her birthday and it was absolutely gorgeous loads to eat and very tasty ,service was excellent and the poor girl was by herself but she was lovely.Definitely recommend it.

The Afternoon tea was well worth every penny! I've been to hotels that charge over twice as much and not had even half the amount food. Quality was good to. I felt sorry for the young girl who had been left to do Everything by herself even though we were a party of at least 25 of us. But She did a fantastic job on the 14th October.

Booked a large party ( 140+) for my sons birthday. They were very helpful, taking us through all the options. We supplied our own live band which they accommodated. Large buffet and very friendly staff. A very enjoyable evening . I would recommend them without hesitation. Thank you.

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea today for a very special occasion. The host for our games was brilliant, so engaging and made sure it was upbeat. We had our wedding reception here and we were over the moon! Bronte and the team went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and were always there to help if I need an update or to change anything etc. the night ran perfectly and everyone had a great time and commented on how lovely it all was! Food was great, entertainment was great, the decorations, everything was all perfect! Will be back for future events for sure!

The carriages were amazing and such a massive help when it came to planning the christening The staff and owner was so lovely and a grate laugh Food wise there was nothing to fault We all felt as though money was well spent and got a good price for everything I would recommend for any events !

Carriages hosted a formal black tie Society dinner and it couldn't have been any better. From start to finish, the staff were incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The venue looked incredible and the service everyone received was second to none. The food was excellent and we would be very happy to return for consecutive years for more of the same. Well done Carriages, you did us proud!

I'd I could give 0 stars believe me i would, overcharged by £24! Emailed over a week ago as their number on Google is incorrect, took a few days to get back to me and they apologised and asked for copy if bank statement and account details which was sent across immediately, 5 days later I'm still chasing, no one would put me through to a manager or director and told me their bank transfer wasn't working but if I wanted to drive across (16 miles) I could collect the cash. I said I didn't think that was appropriate as this was not me mistake and Bronte said she though it was, then hung up!!! Absolutely awful customer service ! Food very average too.

Had a lunch date with my sister. Lovely ambiance and good choice on menu. Had a very tasty chicken and bacon salad with waffle and ice cream to finish. Well presented and good quality.

I visited Carriages with a family member who wanted to book an event. What a disappointment, it has gone downhill after our previous visit for a party around 6yrs ago. We arrived at lunchtime, the place was quiet with just ourselves and another small group so no excuse for the state of the place. The tables were dirty, confetti bits on ours too, toilets and sinks were unclean, dirty sofas and chipped cups too. The man who served us didn't really appear to do much apart from stand around. This used to be a beautiful place however it's now looking worn in parts. Surely if you know you have someone coming in to arrange an event with the events manager you would make sure the tables are wiped down from the previous day. A couple of days later another family member visited, just incase our experience was a one off only to experience the same, dirty tables, unclean and worn toilets. This time they requested food however lots of items on the menu were unavailable despite the place being near empty and a Saturday afternoon. When the food did come it wasn't as stated, of poor quality and the worst food they had eaten. I'm pleased that we won't be wasting money on holding an event at this venue . We definitely won't be returning!

Attending the bottomless brunch on saturday, amazing atmosphere the staff were very adhering to all our requests, drinks kept flowing and presented beautifully and the food was fantastic with great portion sizes and flavours. Would recommend.

First...and last visit to this place. Only 3 tables occupied for lunch but nevertheless a 40 minute wait for a ceasar salad and a chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was billed as "with guacamole, sour cream and onions". It was chicken in mayo. The roll was fresh, though. The 'caesar salad' was a travesty. Some leaves, tomato and a sprinkle of parmesan dust. No (real) parmesan, no anchovies, no dressing.

The food wasn’t that bad, but the toilets were terrible needs TLC . The star of the day was Liam a real asset to this venue . Polite, A Real Bubbly Chap that couldn’t do enough for us. We would go back to Carriages just for his personality and company. 🌟🌟💫💫🤩🤩

My husband and I had to visit the local hospital but were disappointed with the choice of food at the hospital canteen as it was between Christmas and New Year. We spotted this place, what a bad decision. We waited 50 minutes for our mini breakfasts. My tea was warm not hot. My husband asked for a pint of beer but they didn't have any so he had to settle for lager. The waitress was very young and untrained in how to deal with customers in a professional manner. There were other staff hovering around and playing on their mobile phones. The food, once it arrived was acceptable but nothing to write home about {sausage tasteless and very cheap quality} the beans were cold. I definitely wouldn't go there again, unless I was paid a large amount. There was no atmosphere or style to the space or to its staff. Management didn't exist and if there are any, they definitely don't care if they go bankrupt or not.

We went here for breakfast having found the place we were originally going to have it too crowded. It was deserted so when we walked in we were surprised to be asked "Have you booked?". Anyway the breakfasts we had were reasonable and delicious, but a little more "atmosphere " would have been welcomed. When we left no one else had arrived...

Popped in with two of my family, a very clean 👌 and welcoming restaurant, we enjoyed lunch after a choosing from a very interesting menu. Excellent service, delicious food and good value , see you soon Carriages.

Recently had a 30th Birthday party here. Wow we loved this place. Super comfy great service and the food was fantastic, everyone commented on it. The Atmosphere was fantastic and the guest felt at ease with the space you felt you had. The staffed dressed the room superbly and they even taylored for my alcohol free Wife and guests, the Nosecco wall was a perfect touch. Thank you, definitely deserve 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We recently held a private family function at Carriages for our daughter. The venue was spot on for what we wanted (nothing too flash, but not drab either). Food (finger buffet and cakes) was delicious, and plenty of it. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. My only criticism was there was no menu available when making the booking so we were unable to establish a clear idea of what the finger buffet entailed, but we kind of got the gist of it from the staff. We are glad we held the function at this venue.

Went here to celebrate golden wedding, one girl doing everything so long wait at the bar and 45minutes wait for food which came out bit by bit and it was afternoon tea so no cooking ,after asking where it was as kids were hungry she gave them a bag of crisps .We would not recommend this place or go there again.

Really like this place, so relaxing. Staff are excellent. Food is not only very good but value for money.

Went to a private party recently - never been before but was impressed. The staff were really friendly & attentive and the buffet was lovely too. Will go again now I've discovered it!

It may have been due to the pingdemic but the service was incredibly slow. Waited nearly an hour for two simple lunches. They were very apologetic and we had a bit of a refund. The quiche and salad was very underwhelming. The all day breakfast was adequate.

Ordered online for delivery during the covid-19 pandemic. Fast delivery. Was surprised by the afternoon tea, was cheap for the amount you get. It was nice. Wasn’t the best afternoon tea but for the price was worth it. I’ve never been to the restaurant in person so I imagine it’s better in there.

Staff really friendly. Seating nicely spaced out (social distancing) and very clean.

My wife and I called in on Tuesday morning and asked if the restaurant was open as it was totally empty. We were assured that it was open and offered seats. We sat down and waited; a few staff ambled about before disappearing through the door into the kitchen. We were the only customers in the restaurant and sat, completely ignored. Eventually we got up and asked the waitress if we could order two coffees. The coffees arrived and we immediately gave both the teaspoons back to the waitress as they were both filthy with dried up evidence of previous use. The spoons were so filthy that it was difficult to see how that could not have been noticed when serving. The waitress took both spoons away and returned with just one….. We took one sip of the coffee and got up, it was cold and disgusting, not even lukewarm. We went to the till and the waitress asked how the coffee was. We told her and she told us that the coffee machine was not working properly before charging us £5.70 for the privilege of her serving us undrinkable coffee with filthy cutlery. Memorable British catering at it’s finest.

Had a 60th birthday a small family due and it was lovely, staff brilliant could not do enough brilliant venue was so glad we had it there, can't say enough good things many many thanks....

Thank you to Alex and her team for a fantastic afternoon tea to help us celebrate my moms 70th birthday. The venue was beautiful, staff attentive and the food lovely. We went in just before our booking and decorated the table with balloons, banners and table confetti. There was an abundance of food, all nicely presented and very tasty. Would highly recommend this venue and we will definitely be using it again as soon as we can.

Went to a Michael buble tribute, but the resturant owner got drunk and was swering all the time, spoilt the night.

Good wholesome food & drink, you can be assured of a very polite & pleasant reception at all times. Score 11/ 10.

Had Sunday dinner here today and it was lovely. Perfectly cooked plenty of it and good value. Nice spacious surroundings and exceptionally friendly and helpful member of staff. What more could you ask for?

This is a lovely place to grab some delicious food, the interior design is beautiful and very elegant. Staff where so friendly, only down side was how long we waited for food. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy and we waited over 45 minutes for our main courses. Staff where very apologetic and lovely. Highly recommend.

Not worth the .money at 12.95, good job it was the 50% off, very disappointing really, the scones were awful deffinatley not home made, the sandwiches were nothing special, egg mayonnaise and tuna ones couldn't taste anything , everything else ok , the waitress was really nice but only by herself, she could of done with some help, shame could of been a nice place to dine but I wont be returning

We wanted somewhere to hold a wake and we couldn't have been more impressed with the service we received from making the initial booking to the actual event itself. Alex was amazing - so compassionate and reassuring to us in what has been an incredibly difficult time.The food was excellent and there was plenty of it - lots of lovely comments from the guests attending the wake.Thank you for helping us give mum the send off she deserved.

Popped in for a bite to eat recently. In these “new normal” times this place seems to tick all the right boxes.Service was friendly and the hygiene was exceptional. We had two breakfasts with toast which was very tasty,plus an added bonus of coffee refills with it.There was plenty of room between tables and we felt really at ease with the set up.The price was reasonable as well. This place is well worth a stop.

Spacious venue, our first visit since we moved to Oswestry, and came out of lock down. Lovely decor, called in for coffee and cake, friendly staff made you feel very welcome, and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend. Will be going back again. Next time for lunch.

Could have had more staff as they were a bit pushed to deal with 60 guests. Bar serves a good range of drinks.

It was a sit down hog roast, pork bap was tough and fatty a few pink pigs in blankets,The desert selection was nice looking when it came out on a board but no plates to eat off so was hard to try and pour cream over the meringue which was a mess ,Staff were pleasant....

Literally the worst service ever. We pre ordered as we only had one hour for lunch. When we arrived, there was only one other gentleman there waiting for his meal. We were told our order was nearly ready, then the waiter came up and said the chef had ‘miss heard’ one of our orders. We had to re order a ceaser salad with chicken and bacon. We then waited 30 minutes for the original order, and a further 10 minutes after for the salad which had to be sent back as the chef had forgotten the chicken. 10 minutes later it arrived back, but by then we were so fed up. Tried to charge us £8 for it? Every time we go there is always an issue. There is never a manager on the premises. Nobody knows what they’re doing. All of this happened & we were the only table in there. We won’t bother again.

Had a superb lunch here few days ago the place never disappoints us and the service was excellent. style decor, the menu is excellent and food perfectly cooked and presented. We found the staff very attentive, accommodating and efficient. overall its very reasonably priced, great atmosphere and i would definitely be going for a return visit.

Wanted a coffee/snack. 3 of us early afternoon and only 2 other tables occupied. Waited an age until the one lad on duty had got drinks to the other 2 tables (top tip - use a tray, it saves time). Ordered 3 coffees, 1 tea cake and a scone. came back to tell us no tea cakes so upped order to 2 scones. When he delivered two coffees told us no scones either... had to ask for third coffee which, in hindsight was a mistake. I can accept running out of things, places get a rush sometimes however that was not the end of it. The coffee was the worst we have ever had, anywhere. It was like dirty water with no coffee flavour at all. It was as if the grounds had been flushed through many times. We paid and left the coffee, typically British I guess. Should really have told them to stuff their bill but, believe me, it wiil be the last time we will got there.

Sunday evening 6pm booked in advance for 9 people which became 10. Verity of dishes ordered plus drinks. Sunday roast for 2 adults and 2 children arrived. Yorkshire pudding rock hard unable to cut with knife provided. I asked the waiter for a small plate, onto which I put the yorkshire and asked him to take it to the chef and asked him to eat it.Roast potatoes almost black. The meal had been prepared for Lunch and was served in the evening warmed up in my opinion. Fish and chips looked fine and the burger had no complaints from the kids. The waiter said he would ring the manager when I said I was'nt happy to pay the full bill of £114.00 He said he would reduce it to £100.00 which I paid. Not impressed by their quality control. Nothing to be proud of here.

Very welcoming and friendly staff who made everything stress free and perfect from the point of booking, my grandmother was overwhelmed with the beautiful décor and amazing presentation of the food.

Visited carriages on friday night, live music and amazing atmosphere, advised dishes off the menu due to large events over the weekend and not being able to hold the fresh stock, although amazing deals on the sharing boards and steaks to make up for it.

Worst experience ever. Had made a reservation weeks in advance. When we arrived at 7pm on a Saturday evening, the whole restaurant was totally empty, it was just our table of four there. We were brought the menus by the only waiter that seemed to be working. Ordered A bottle of Sauvignon blank, he brought over a bottle of Cab Sav already opened!! He then rectified it by bringing a correct wine. When I asked for a cooler or ice bucket for the wine, he replied with why whats wrong with it!! After I explained id like to keep our wine cool he gave me a wine cooler filled with ice, so we couldn't put the bottle in.

Fabulous afternoon tea which was very reasonable for what was included. fantastic service by Alex and gorgeous decor! Would highly recommend for any occasion.

Venue for a recent meeting I attended, food looked dodgy (greasy / unhealthy) so I didn't eat anything. Coffee was OK though. The toilet kept making a loud honking sound every time somebody came out 🤔

We went for afternoon tea today, it was absolutely beautiful, the food was fresh and presented well. There was enough food sandwiches, pate and toast, onion bread, scotch eggs, scones cream and jam and lovely little cakes, there was endless cups of tea, the staff were so friendly and extremely attentive nothing was too much trouble, the setting was lovely clean and the table was set with everything on it thank you xx can’t wait to come back xx well done

Visited a few weeks ago with my husband and had a delicious meal. However, visited again recently with friends and on this occasion the food and service were very poor. Chips were very crunchy and tasted like old oil. Hallloumi burger was a small piece of smashed up cheese and not greatly presented. Such a shame as I'd had the exact same meal previously and was impressed. Service was slow and meals forgotten. When a missing dessert was mentioned the reaction by the one waitress was rather rude. Unfortunately will not be going back or recommending.

1st visit but won't be the last. Fortunately we missed the rush as it was 5.00pm when we arrived so it was quiet but our meals were all served piping hot and delicious really generous portions extra sauces extra gravy all served quickly. Staff are very pleasant and friendly would certainly reccomend it. We will certainly be going back.

We visited Carriages some few years ago, but were not disappointed on our return visit. The restaurant is quite large but along one of the walls there are semicircular cubicles where five or six people may sit comfortably. There were also areas with settees. The restaurant itself was formerly a carriage repair area until reconstruction. The service was good and the food enjoyable. Alongside there is an indoor play area for children. Also adequate parking which can be difficult in Oswestry.

We decided to try Carriages for Sunday lunch on Father’s Day my daughter her dad and our 7month grandson I messaged to see if had high chair and was at our table when arrived. We all decided on beef lunch which was amazing all veg really great the pudding choice was great and to make it even better Dads went free !

We've been here a few times with my husbnad and children. We've always had a first class service and food is amazing. Sunday roast is brilliant, breakfast is the best in town. Would recommened the restaurant for any occasion.

Had a lovely meal here today . It’s a nice place to eat and drink . Staff really friendly . Food was lovely . The menu is varied so there is something for everyone . And the coffee is good too

I’ve had breakfast and lunch and a coffee break at Carriages and I have to say no matter what you order whether it a meal or just a drink the service I and my friends have received has been second to none. The food is so delicious. The full English breakfast is just wow

Came here with my husband and kids. They sat us down straight away even though we didnt book. They had a great children menu which they loved and colouring for the young ones to keep them occupied. The food came out at good time and was lovely and very filling. The staff were so friendly and they could go to the fun house next door to play so adults could have some time to themselves. Will be back very soon.
