We went here for a bite to eat and a glass of wine on a Saturday lunchtime. It is dog friendly for well behaved dogs which is something we had searched on maps beforehand as we had a dog with us. They did also provide a fresh bowl of water for our dog too. The place had both brightly lit areas as well as more dimly lit tables too. You order drinks from the bar at the front. You order food from by the kitchen area at the side. We ordered 3 of the 'small plates', the brief bites, the pate of the week, the cod goujons, and a portion of chips to share between 2 of us. After ordering we were told they didn't have and brie bites available so we chose to have 2 lots of the cod. I did feel that it would have been helpful to have known what was available that day as some people may have changed their choice from what they have paid for. I had to wait for my daughter to come back from the other bar from ordering drinks to sort the change of choice. The food came fairy quickly was absolutely delicious and very well presented. The wine was really good too, and nicely chilled. We really enjoyed it all, and the atmosphere in the venue too. The pub was quiet when we went in but it became very busy fairy soon after. The pub is situated in a pedestrianised side street in the centre of Shrewsbury. I would definitely visit again.

We were shopping in Shrewsbury called in here on a whim, the pub was inviting looking and the food looked really good so we decided to have a meal. The food was served quickly and was really tasty however …….. the staff were not welcoming, their attitudes were unreal and quite frankly rude, drinks banged down on the bar, food slapped on the table, not a smile to be had and a squabble behind the bar over someone else’s order, it was quite obvious the girl serving did not want to be at work. Not an inviting atmosphere at all, tension and petulance galore.

If there is a rating less than a 1 star, it would be my rating tonight. Food and open mic were great but I was really disgusted tonight more than the days I've been in this pub. The Baristas, especially the THREE GIRLS, were not accommodating as ever. They are kinda racist in such a way. I've never felt so humiliated when ordering. They ignore us every time. I said hi to one of the Baristas to make an order but she just left. They also gave us the look on their faces as if we can't afford to buy their drinks. Open mic is as good as always but please mind your staffs. They choose who they serve well. Bull Inn take note of the date today, 24/08/24 so that you'll know who's on between 2300H-2330H. Anyway, we just left the pub. It was really not a good night.

Do not mix the food and pub up with the accommodation reviews. The first are good but the rooms are dire. The dirtiest smelliest property we have had the miss fortune to staying. When we ordered the food from a guy more my own age, that was a vast improvement, think he was the chef? We visited this pub for a 2 night stay as we had a wedding near by. We were given room 1 which had the four poster bed. The mattress was very old and very lumpy. Due to having a bad back, I had to sleep on the quilt to get some comfort. The room had NO natural air flow, making the room stuffy, hot and not nice smelling, the window looked out onto the corridor leading to the rooms! A tower fan was supplied which was no use whatsoever. The bathroom was very smelly, we left the extractor fan on all night to rid the smell but that didn't help. Our room was not cleaned at all during our stay, so no clean cups and saucers for when we returned. There was NO hairdryer. The furniture was very dusty and the carpets not hoovered. Friday and Saturday night had a band playing, until midnight which felt as though they were playing in our room. I honestly wished we never booked this place, but you never know what you're going to get, and other reviews did not help. Good points: the staff were lovely and the cooked breakfast was excellent.

Visited the Bull on 23rd August with my wife as I fancied a Guinness and she fancied a Bailey's Irish cream (50ml measure as stated in the weights and measures act) but as I ordered it the barman said that they served it in 25ml measures per single and said "is that okay?" Seeing as it's only a liquer style drink and 17% vol, I said it wasn't and we walked back out, with the barman saying "Sorry about that guys!". We'd planned to order some food as well and stay for a couple of hours but when you're informed that we'd be only getting half measures who the hell would take up that offer? Im adraid we won't be returning, there's plenty more bars in Shrewsbury who pour the correct measures and don't plan to rip their customers off. Be careful of the Bull Inn folks, you may end up being conned.

Stayed recently for an overnight business trip. Warmly welcomed on arrival and shown to my room. The hotel is in the town and has no parking provided so it was a walk from a car park to get there. The room was generally clean, however it was a bit dusty around the edges of the room and there was some mould on the bathroom ceiling. It bugs me when I find that in a hotel as it's a quick fix to remove with some spray and shows a lack of effort when it comes to cleaning. Didn't have food there as I was going out for food with friends, however on return they had an open mic night in the bar. The atmosphere was pretty good and we enjoyed a game of pool there. After going to bed, I struggled with the heat. My room didnt have an external window (it looked.into the corridor) so couldn't get any ventilation. Also, the pillar fan in the wardrobe was broken, so had little sleep in the heat. If they addressed the issues above, this would be a good hotel in a great location

Don’t bother if your hungry Service was poor overall, long delays at the bar, snappy staff, understaffed for time of day, no menus, no cutlery when food was delivered but the absolute joke of the visit was the Sunday lunch served and the inability to deal with the issue appropriately. Skip through the 20 minutes of disgustingly poor service, we had out 2 (identically ordered) roast pork dinners delivered to the table. Both plates were largely empty except for an excess of peas and a massive plate filling Yorkshire pudding. After a brief search I managed to locate the main part of the meal, the roast pork. It (there was one tiny piece sitting atop a roast potato) I looked across at the other (identical) dinner and that was atopped with 2 significantly larger slices. Approximately 4 x what I had been served. I commented to the server that that was an expensive slice of pork (around £18 for Sunday lunch) I had and he just gave me a dirty look before snapping well isn’t there more underneath. I responded with, I have no way of checking because (again) I have not cutlery! After a brief scour around the immediate area, he managed to locate a set. I moved the mediocre slice to find 2 very undercooked roast potatoes but definitely no meat. I asked that he return the meal to the kitchen and returned with a dinner with a proper (identical portion to the other) and some gravy as the meal was served vertically dry He snatched away the plate and returned around 5 minutes later with the same food on the plate and a small side dish with a tiny extra thinly sliced piece of dried out pork and no gravy I looked into the bowl and looked at the server and explained that it was a joke, his response was the portions were served on weight and the gravy served already (almost none) was the allocated portion. I asked to speak to the manager and he said there was one there but the manager was busy so he would “ hear my complaint” I said I would be raising a complaint, that the food served was a joke and his explanations were obviously a lie as portion size wouldn’t explain the difference between the 2 lunches The dinner consisted of 2 very small and undercooked roast potatoes One carrot One parsnip A few slithers of green beans A million peas A massive Yorkshire pudding (presumably to give the impression of a full plate) By the time I began eating my lunch, my partner had almost finished so that idea of going for a lunch together was pointless. After I’d eaten my few morsels of dry potatoes and the pathetic excuse of a portion of meat (I don’t like veg so I rely on the potatoes and meat) And had clearly finished my efforts, the manager appeared with a side dish of several full size slices of pork and a jug of gravy I explained it was too little too late as all it had done was emphasise that the original dinners delivered to us were served knowing that the portions were under but the chefs and servers just simply didn’t care. She said, she told the chef she didn’t care if they were waiting for it to be cooked, that she wanted some slices of pork now!! she said she just wants me to leave with a full belly. Fat chance! What was edible wouldn’t have filled a toddler Totally up to you if you go, but they don’t care about you or what you spend, they argue while your food going cold. They lie and the treat you like your an inconvenience for being there. Sunday lunch, an absolute joke. If you can afford almost £20 a meal for a teaplate full of dried out veg and the left overs of a pork roast, go nuts. If you value good serve and food, steer well clear, it’s a disgusting experience

Thursday 15 April 2021 , The White Hart has decided to remain closed until May when they can welcome customers back inside the pub. They are still continuing to do some home beer deliveries for customers who are self isolating.See the Facebook page for the latest beers and contact information. Excellent real ales with a well deserved listing in the Good Beer Guide 2020 and the past 17 years !. Adam keeps a wonderful selection of beers and has a number of guest beers that he gets in for the customers to enjoy.

Unfortunately the foul mouthed men at the bar spoiled our visit, which is a shame as we were staying nearby and were planning to adopt the pub as our local.

Came here with friends for lunch and the food was fantastic. I had cream of mushroom soup which was delicious, full of mushrooms, not too creamy and full of flavour. Then I had the rabbit which was also very nice and perfectly cooked. Not cheap, but definitely delicious quality food and a lovely traditional atmosphere.
