Buffet Car At The Railway in Shropshire

Been with friends this morning for Breakfast, it was really good we all enjoyed the food we had.

I'm sorry to say I've been disappointed the last couple of visits to the cafe. I'm aware from the other reviews that the garden centre have taken over the cafe, and not for the better. We waited 25 mins for drinks. What's with the ordering and then staff bringing them to the table,? I know this may make the queues look smaller, but staff don't know their right arm from their left. The orders come wrong and then you have to wait again. There seems to be plenty of staff working behind the counter so I can't work out what the issue is. Too many cooks? I'm really sorry for the previous owner as she built such a wonderful cafe, for it not to be getting the reviews it once did. Hollybush sort your sxxt out before people go elsewhere.

Always a great experience and friendly staff BUT after coming down the stairs me my daughter and two granddaughters could all smell urine from the toilets it was very bad!!!

Not has good has it used to be I had the Gammon far to thin and over cooked, garden pea 🫛 no taste and cold and chips dry inside and cold.

I am really disappointed in the cafe at the moment. I loved coming for breakfast but the menu is now very small and not a lot of choice. The last time we visited only a few people in and our order was wrong two twice. Sorry to say going elsewhere. The staff are lovely it's a shame.

I had an afternoon tea previosly upstairs at the hollybush and it was fabulous this time I was told I had to have it down stairs and I can honestly say I will not be having another. The 2 were completey different to each other. the sandwiches were soggy and tasteless.just ham or I think it was chicken??? Cakes were like out of a packet,not nice at all. How can two cafes in the same place be so different,upstairs afternoon tea is beautifully. I will not wasting my money again

We went today for afternoon tea none of the food is prepped there its imported in packets off sandwiches which are then cut into triangles. The bread was soggy and tasted stale . I had to wait a extra 15 minutes for my meal as allergies. While other ate when mine came out it was flap jack packet not even cut but ripped in half n 2 tiny millionare shortbread chunks .wasn't worth the money won't be going back .we thought the food was freshly made nothing was . Very disappointing.

Great place for a nice cuppa and cake and a browse around a brilliant garden centre. Fabulous items including gifts, plants, clothing, pottery painting, children's play den, fresh produce. Plenty of parking. And lovely helpful staff

Food was okay but there isn’t enough choice here. The large breakfast consists of black pudding but no hash browns. I requested hash browns instead of black pudding. Sorry no can do! What if I’m allergic to something and can’t have it? Any other place would compromise on this. Didn’t want a hot drink which was included. Ask to swap for a pop. Sorry can’t do this! Your prices are a joke and you don’t even put customers first! Last time I eat here! Spend the money elsewhere people with better people skills.

My vegetarian quiche was tasteless thick and stodgy probably the worst meal ive ever had in my life. I dont know if it was the meal but after eating it i felt ill which lasted for two days. Never going there again. Long wait to order the food too

Lasagne was beautiful. Quite a large portion too with coleslaw, salad and garlic bread. Very tasty. Didn't have to wait long either and it was busy.

Decent food with low wait times. Pleasantly surprised by the large portion size, especially for the price. Gets noisy quickly as it fills up.

Used to be the best cafe in the area unfortunately since it's changed is disappointing which explains why it was quieter than usual.

Lovely little restaurant but it's always too busy and always takes quite long to serve the food.

Been to the hollybush cafe for years food was always good but this morning was a great disappointment. My parents had the breakfast which was cold. I had egg bendict which I always wanted to try, when I cut into the eggs they was hard eggs instead runny. Should have really complained at the time but my mom did on the way out. Which the waitress did say next time you come in and the food is not right to complain. There won't be a next time. God knows what happened to the place

Waited over an hour for our breakfast and it was cold and disgusting. Awful service.

Horrific. Over an hour wait. Long queue at the till where you order food. We went for breakfast but the food arrived at mid-lunch. The food was not good at all, it used to be really good, but not anymore I guess. More food being sent back to the kitchen than coming out. I’ve never seen so many refunds in my life. Extremely busy.

Coffee was good but i should hope so at the price, the food was terrible honestly terrible, 1 hour wait for rock solid peas,mash that was hard and chicken that was tough and chewy. Full refund recieved! Thanks for wasting hours out my sunday

Our “extra hot” LARGE cappuccinos were only 2/3 full underneath froth and just warm. 2 pots of tea, 1 was red hot and steaming, the other was only warm. It was only 2 degrees outside and they had the air con on blowing cold air! I mentioned this to the lady who I think is in charge? All I got was “I’m roasting“. I pointed out to her, that her customers were not, it was cold. Some were moving away from the air con vents. This is our 2nd visit since “ the new ownership“ , it was blowing cold on our first visit. We will not be going again. Not one of the staff seemed pleasant……. Not a smile between them. Also, service was slow.

I used to come here 20 years ago when my kids were babies(when the cafe was downstairs). What a disappointment. We came for breakfast on Sunday. Huge queue, egg missing from both sandwiches so I told a staff member, they came back with a cold egg just on the one side. No Christmas decorations. No imagination. It reminds me of a school canteen. It was obvious that the staff were unhappy too. It's sad to see...

Told I couldn't order a baguette. Had a bacon sandwich, cold, salty and fatty. Really dissapointed and won't be returning !

OMG this place was amazing, what has happened it feels like overnight it's been destroyed, 45 min queue to order, service and food quality awful. How has it got so bad? I used to come once or twice a month. No more! Waste of money for what it is now.

Really busy, but food is nice so worth it, and nice to see a company just taking cash, they do right, you cannot be run by your phone apps and credit cards, they all incur costs

Terrible breakfast this morning we always go for our breakfast but today was the worst breakfast we have had , cold, bacon salty, fried bread dripping in oil , toast hard , we won't be going again , under new management and already the has much coffee has you want with the breakfast has been taken away and get your own cutlery ect not provided on the tables , very disappointed.

Having now had 3 meals here of which all were awful we will not be returning or recommending people to visit, we are big believers of giving people and businesses another chance to improve but three times now and its progressively got worse. Needless to say we will not be going back. ☹

The waitress got our order wrong. Then, they forgot to bring our hot drink. The food was awful. The chicken burger was soggy and uncooked. Jacket potato was also uncooked. Managerial service was good, offered a partial refund for the poor service and food. Would never eat here again. Awful food.

The Food here is lovely, the thing that brings it down is the amount of people usually packed in and the staff dashing about rushed off their feet. It can take (according to the menus) 45 minutes for food to be served due to busy times.

The coffee shop is good with a small menu but nice. The down side is the air conditioning is down low so it causes a draft. Apart from that food is good, service is good.

Met a friend as it’s half way for us to meet and have breakfast and drinks. Didn’t look round the centre but spent a long time in the restaurant. Will visit again as the bit I did see makes me want to go back.

Very nice but filling definitely could share the tuna cheese melt or the bacon sandwich. Bacon sandwich is very thick bacon the brown bread is lovely . Very quick and friendly service did come early at 10:00

The coffer shop was clean and tidy, well decorated. Staff were pleasant and we were served quickly. The drinks were hot and tasted ok. We didn't eat on this occasion. When we left the restaurant was getting busy and it was noisy, which you would expect. On the whole a good visit.

A nice place to go for lunch while at the garden center. The food is... OK, good gluten free selection on cakes on offer. Its not cheap here though and not a massive amount on the main menu to choose from.

It's a great place, I have a 16month old, so enjoy bee wild soft play for a bargain at £3.50for 60mins. Then make our way up to the cafe where they have options for little ones too, although I do think that maybe there could be a healthier selection, ie rice and veggies, fish but that's just my opinion, however you can mix and match what they do have available. Quick service and lots of food options for adults on the menu, the food is nice too.

Food is amazing. Great value for money. Staff are all lovely, nothing is too much trouble.

Have been a couple of times before and it was fine. However, this time there was sticky menus, food and cutlery on the floor and table and a medium sized dead fly on my salad! Won’t be going again.

OMG the breakfast is epic, top notch food in a nice location, everything I would expect on a fry up, missus chose poached egg and not a problem for the team here, it was hot and fresh and we will be back in the next few weeks for more of the same.

Afternoon tea was delicious more than enough for four people. Staff was very help and polite.

Tried the ploughmans lunch. It was plentiful but unfortunately I did not enjoy either the pork pie or scotch egg. My friends panini was lovely Counter staff were helpful. Lots of choice on the menu

So after many years visiting hollybush restaurant (weekly) me and my parents decide to try there afternoon tea (3 people). Wow!!! why didn't we try it sooner. The price is amazing £15.75. The afternoon tea came with 6 different filled sandwiches (ham, cheese, tuna, egg mayo, chicken mayo and chicken tikka) a variety of cakes which we had 2 each and scone, Jam and cream. Plus as much tea and coffee as we liked. We had a table reserved by the window and great table service. Lacey and Donna was so helpful, polite and just made the experience even more special, couldn't of asked for better service. We will certainly become back for afternoon tea soon and will be recommending it to all our friends.

Nice cuppa, beautiful cake to go with it and to top it off, friendly staff. Does hot food aswell, I didn't try this time but food looks good. Worth a visit

Visited on a very busy Mother's Day morning, luckily booked a table in advance. Lovely cakes, great coffees and the kids loved their chips. Service was great considering they were at full capacity, staff were welcoming and friendly. We all had a really enjoyable experience. Way better than the Den downstairs 💖

Extremely busy, staff under pressure to meet demands. Ordered 2 kids meals, but had to wait ages for service.

Excellent staff at the HOLLYBUSH restaurant, extremely friendly and very helpful. Food is the nicest I’ve eaten , I would recommend it to every one , the prices of the food are very reasonable, I would recommend that you give it a try you will enjoy it . The quality of the food is so poor. Cakes are dry and not fresh. Also had scampi and chips, tasteless and overpriced!

The best Afternoon Tea ever. Lovely fresh sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam. And the cakes are huge, full slices of cake, like off the main counter. Delicious, and great value for money. Couldn't eat it all, so boxed up the leftovers to bring home. Also on previous visits enjoyed a full cooked breakfast and can recommend the homemade pie, the quiche, and the best cheese on toast ever. The whole menu really, lots of choice and never had a bad meal, gotta treat yourself to a cake too, even though you might have to take it to go, cus you will be too stuffed to eat it.

We went to buy some sole for our plants at home. We decided to have a late lunch before shopping. It's a busy place, car park, garden centre and the cafe for lunch. I ordered a tuna melt and my partner had a steak baguette. I would recommend getting a table before ordering, they have numbers on for your food to be served. I didn't think much of the tuna melt. The tuna was on the bottom and a layer of cheese slices melted on top. It wasn't made with love, just kind of thrown together. I tasted the steak baguette it was okay. The next time I go I'll probably have a jacket potato or just fries. They do a children's menu that is reasonable. They also do desserts the apple pie came without custard. I took it home to have with custard. My partner had a slice of jaffa cake. It was huge! The plants in the garden centre are pricey we brought a few bedding plants that were on offer i.e 3 for £8. The pots are even more pricey. It's a large place you can buy all manner of things there for the house and garden.

Food was delicious, always relatively quick service despite how busy is gets.

The staff were polite and helpful. We visited the coffee shop opposite the paint a pot. The coffee was like mud, even the latte, so ok if you like very, very strong coffee. The panini was very lacking but only because it wasn't toasted, it was heated up but very soft and doughy. The place was very clean. I like this garden centre and we attend on occasion, it's an independent which you get better offers. The fish shop is well stocked for koi and there's a pet shop which is very well stocked. The panini's needs to be excuted better.

Everyone working here is so friendly and lovely. We really appreciated the woman who gave us directions to the sweetshop! The food here is delicious and good quality for the price too, I would highly recommend it. My friend had chips which were served hot and I had cheese on toast which was amazing there was just so much cheese! The picture is only half of what I had! As a cheese lover I was very happy! I would definitely come back, the atmosphere is so lovely and we really enjoyed sitting down and eating and there's plenty of space too.

Maybe I caught it on the wrong day. People were pleasant, but the food was a bit ropey unfortunately. The cakes were great though. Cold drinks were warm, coffee was meh. It's a garden centre type place. It is what it is ☺️

I had booked afternoon tea for 3 people for today, 11th July. We arrived on time and found our reserved table. A lovely young member of staff came and welcomed us immediately, and took our drinks order. She soon arrived back with our piping hot drinks, followed quickly by our afternoon tea. We were amazed by the amount of food we were brought, all beautifully presented, and delivered with a lovely smile from the staff member. A lovely selection of sandwiches on white and brown bread, beautifully fresh and tasty. Then a fantastic selection of cakes, and of course, scones with clotted cream and jam. We were also offered unlimited drinks. We just couldn't manage to eat everything, there really was so much, so we were brought containers to use to take left overs home. We had a wonderful time, and the lovely staff member made us feel like we were royalty, she was so lovely and helpful. I have been to lots of places for afternoon tea, and paid double the amount that Hollybush charge, but I really have to say that this was the loveliest afternoon tea I have had, and at a very reasonable price. We left the restaurant very happy and very full. Thank you so much to all Hollybush restaurant staff, and especially the young staff member who served us so brilliantly. (I wish I has asked her name, so sorry).

Ate in the restaurant- stale bread and the waitress slammed the food down. Had to ask for cutlery. Didn't dare ask for napkins. Saw her slam ketchup down for another customer. Don't think we will go again.

Friendly service. Good access for the disabled via lift. However, Sunday lunch wasn't the best I've ever had, lots of it though. Cups and cutlery weren't very clean at all.

Would recommend a visit plenty to do for the children as well as the adults
