We entered a room set out with a lot of tables and a 'Specials' board but were informed ''They don't do food, the chef has moved to Spain'' We were apparently 10 minutes late - if we had arrived sooner we could have ordered a Take away which we could then eat in the pub!! We wouldn't wish to as the room was dismal and the wine was the worst I have drunk in years.

Fantastic carvery the best we have visited. We went recently to a restaurant claiming to be the best carvery in England and it was not a scratch on the leaking tap. Vegetables are beautiful and the roast potatoes are perfect. Always friendly. The carvers love it !!! Keep on jimming

I am not able to review my visit to The Leaking Tap, as I was unable to make a reservation. I sent an e-mail in July, enquiring about making a reservation for 20 people in September, (8 weeks prior to our visit) without a reply. I then telephoned 2 weeks later, (6 weeks prior) with the same enquiry, the phone got answered, I said “Hello, I’d like to enquire.....” and the phone was put down. I tried again, this time I got to speak to a staff member, I gave her the date and number of diners, and she told me she would call me back, good enough she did, in less than 2 minutes. “I’m sorry, we won’t be able to take your booking as I don’t think we will have enough staff on that night” was the reply, ok I said, “but could I call back closer to the date to see if you will have enough staff?” I asked. “No! We won’t be taking your booking” and the phone went dead. Very rude and abrupt phone manner of the staff member.

Busy week so decided to go local for Sunday Lunch. Back to the Leaking Tap. Best carvery around this area for miles. Cant recommend it too highly. Could not fault it. NO, I have not got shares in the Company. If I had, I would put the prices up.

Popped down for an early dinner. Not unexpectedly the place was quiet at 6pm, so getting a table wasn't a problem. Food menu fairly standard with a good selection of dishes including vegetarian. Reasonable selection of ales and ciders on tap. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Will call again.

Four choices of meat, pink or well done offered. Excellent choice of vegetables, the vegetable bakes are delicious. Tasty gravy. Very good value, including the Wine.(don't forget the wine). We all enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

Having not visited for several months we arrived to see that there had been a change of management and were worried that the lunch might not be as good. However we were pleased to see that the carvery was as good as ever - 3 choices of meat, very generous helpings, and a great choice of veg - the broccoli souffle was delicious. For £7.95 I don't think you can beat this place for Sunday lunch - we travelled from Telford which is a good 40 minute drive. I notice that people have given some poor reviews of meals at other times, but all I can say is that Sunday lunch is excellent, The place itself could do with a bit of a facelift but the staff were friendly and helpful - especially the lady on the carvery.

We are locals trying to support our local pub, booked for Friday night 18th December, got there to empty pub, bought our drinks and asked for the menu's, told there were some tapas, which was read to us from a small piece of paper, nothing to our taste, we wanted a meal. Menu's were presented, my husband had almost half of his menu crossed off, mine was not, asked the waitress which menu was right, she went to check, my husbands was correct, only half of the food was available, and no turkey in sight, hello this is the last Friday before Christmas, no wonder they were not busy!!! To make matters worse the waitress came back and told us as it was Christmas, the prices had gone up!!! BUT NO TURKEY, so where was their Christmas menu!!! That was the last straw, we drank our drinks and left, never to return again

This is our second visit in as many weeks. Both times the food has been superb. Owned by a very friendly couple, she is Brazilian and the cook, so the food has a Latin flavour to it. Very tasty. Can't fault it really. The tomato soup is legendary. Great value for money with a three course meal (on a week night) for under £10. We will definitely be going back again. I have read other reviews about the food being greasy? Well Mediterranean / Latin cooking does use slightly more olive oil! I found it all delicious. Also that they run out of food on a Sunday, well It is a small pub. There are many 5 star restaurants that will turn you away without a booking or when they are full. Every restaurant has its limit and I am sure it is disappointing if you are the one that is turned away but you can not give it one star for that reason. Better that they turn some people away than that they try to fit everyone in and compromise with the quality of the food. If I had been you I would have gone for the chicken and blue mash as I had this tonight with a Madeira sauce and it was delicious.

We recently visited the leaking tap for an evening meal, for my daughters birthday. The food was good. Along with the atmosphere of the pub, and the overall service. I had fillet steak, which was amazingly delicious, all of the party enjoyed the food. There was one thing that could be improved on, and that was the potatoes, there weren't enough and we would of offered home made chunky chips, that some good pubs do.Overall we were pleasantly surprised and we will definitely go back again, it was very enjoyable.Thank you to the leaking tap (cockshutt).

We visited the Leaking Tap in Cockshutt last Sunday evening with our two dogs. I had checked the pub's website before travelling, which clearly stated that it was a dog friendly pub "CYCLISTS, MOTOR CYCLISTS & WELL BEHAVED DOGS ARE WELCOME" (from their website). Despite the fact that there was only one person in the completely empty bar, we were turned away! Our dogs hadn't even had time to show that they were well behaved! We will not be returning

I'm sorry to read the previous review, as today we had a lovely experience. We didn't book, but arrived about 3.00 p.m.and they happily accommodated us at short notice.Reading the notice outside, they now serve Sunday lunch until 6.00 p.m. and recommend booking - very sensible as new owners must have time to get to know the ropes in a new venture. We had beef which was delicious and melted in your mouth. As well as cabbage, peas carrots and broccoli there were lovely blends of carrots swede, and roasted vegetables. My friend also had some crackling from the pork also on offer. After four slices of beef, we were also offered some pork as well if required. We declined but it was good to be asked! We shared a Tiramisu which was extra, and well worth it - a portion big enough for two and delicious! All in all for £7.95 fantastic quality and value for money.I hope previous visitors will give the new owners a chance, I loved it today, and will visit again soon!

We re-visited the Leaking Tap this week as we were again in the area and enjoyed our previous visits so much. However, this visit was so disappointing that I can no longer recommend the establishment. It has had a change of ownership/management and it shows. They advertise Sunday carvery until 8pm and so, after quite a long day/journey, we arrived at the pub at 6pm to be told by the owner "no food, we had 7 bookings but about 17 turned up so we've run out". She then proceeded to say " I suppose I could do you chicken and chips or something". Not the kind of meal I was anticipating and so we finished our drinks and left.

We visited this pub on three occasions during a recent holiday and thoroughly enjoyed each meal. The pub does not look much from the outside and, yes, the decor could do with a little tlc but the meals are very, very good. It is not an extensive menu but the meals were well cooked and the portions were huge, especially the mixed grill. Even the salad garnish is more like a meal in itself rather than something on the side of the plate. On the first visit they even cooked a meal for my husband that didn't appear on the menu. I tried the hunter's chicken, the chilli burger and the scampi and enjoyed each one. And one further recommendation....the raspberry and lime cheesecake with ginger base....yummy.

I went to the Leaking Tap on Sunday 29th March, two adults 1 child. My grandson's plate was a bit smaller than ours which you would expect but by the time he had his 4 meats and all the Veg he could eat he ended up with more than us adults. Excellent Value for Money for the price. Highly recommended.

I was severely disappointed by the Leaking Tap in Cockshutt. After seeing so many positive reviews I was expecting something to remember from this rural pub/restaurant. Unfortunately my memories are grey and bland, much like the food that I was served there. My starter was a black pudding and crouton stack, served with a creamy mustard sauce. It was appalling and made me feel sick. The creamy sauce was bland and looked vaguely reminiscent of what it made me feel like doing. Next a carvery, dry pieces of gammon and beef shrapnel adorned my plate. The woman carving described these dried pieces of beast herself as "bitty". The other reviews described a huge range of vegetables that accompany the carvery. Yes, this is true. All limp and overcooked. I can't complain about my dessert but it was ice cream. Yes, this place is a bargain. But it doesn't warrant a 5* review. The reviews on here are yet more evidence that British people's love of food is more to do with portion size than taste.

We were recommended this country pub for their Sunday carvery lunch for many reasons, but the 3 main ones were quality, value and flexibility. The board outside says Sunday lunch carvery served 12 till 8. That's a long lunch! The choice of food was great. 4 meats, and at least 12 veg. All hot and all well prepared. Those that should have bite had it and the ones that don't aren't. The cauliflower cheese stood out for me. Service was always with a smile, and looking at the Christmas fare on offer, I am sure they will be busy. While we were a couple as a walk-in and were accommodated very quickly, I would recommend to book to avoid disappointment. Best Sunday lunch this year (16/11/2014).

We arrived without booking and the pub was very busy with people who had reserved places. No problem, the lovely staff managed to fit us in. This is one of the best Sunday lunches I have had in several years. The beef was so tender and tasty. What a pleasure to see so many tasty vegetables to choose from, 7 I think. Also a good choice of home made sweets - and lots of different real ales, lagers and wines available. After a lovely meal in a great friendly environment the bill was a pleasant shock. Just incredible value for money. We were a few miles from home, but the journey will be worth it in future to visit this great pub again.

Just had the best carvery ever. I've been disappointed in most carveries because although the meats are usually ok, the vegetables often leave a lot to be desired. These are fresh and seem to be prepared by hand, none of that cheap frozen stuff that is often provided. It was so good, that we had a desert as well, also fab. Prices very reasonable too, honestly some pubs charge stupid prices for poor quality food. Unfortunately we were only passing through and came upon this pub by chance but can't recommend it enough if you live anywhere nearby or are in the area. Staff lovely - and they don't charge for tap water. Husband says don't forget to mention the beer!!

Lots of lovely places in Ludlow, this one is not in the top 10. It’s a bit more of a canteen than a quaint cafe. The foods OK but not generous. We couldn’t get in anywhere else as they all required pre booking. The staff were helpful.

Visited this lovely country pub following recommendations from neighbours. The menu is small but full of home made dishes. As a group of 4 we enjoyed chicken and Stilton pie and vegetables, gammon, sweetcorn, chips and pineapple, chilli con carne and a really meaty pork chop, chips and peas. Really good home cooked food so much better than the normal pub grub. It also means the menu changes regularly. Sensibly priced making eating out a pleasure. Desserts just had to be tried. The whisky bread and butter pudding was suitably named and the apple crumble with custard was a winner too. The Sunday roast advertised at £9.30 will have to be tried another weekend. Delicious home cooked food is always so much better than bought in dishes. We praised the chef and June for a lovely warm welcome and a great meal.
