We have visited the Blue Boar on several previous occasions when visiting Ludlow and have enjoyed the ambience but this was the first time for a meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The menu was varied and catered for all our tastes. The food we had was tasty, plentiful and hot. We had an enjoyable time and look forward to a return visit.

Attend for some Sunday lunch, there was a queue due to the fact nobody was clearing the dirties off the empty tables. After a lengthy time waiting for a table we were shown to a table which was cleaned after we were seated. We then had to queue again to order food, then waiting a further 35 minutes to be served up dry beef burgers and jacket potatoe with no edible skin or butter ? The waitress asked me if everything was ok I said No and she walked off to serve someone else. A big 0/10 for food / organisation & value for money

Visited with friends for Sunday lunch. They'd been before for lunch (although not on a Sunday)and had enjoyed it so we took a chance. Nicely busy but no issues getting a table, although I wouldn't go much after 1-1.30pm for Sunday lunch as you may miss out. Great tasting coffee and the blackberry stout was amazing. Sunday lunch is superb - 2 of us had turkey and 2 had gammon. Everything was cooked just right - the roast potatoes were great and good selection of veggies. 3 of us ordered extra cauliflower cheese but we would have been fine with just 2 for the table - I'd definitely recommend it, made exactly how it should be and really tasty. All the food was piping hot, great portions and excellent value for money. The pub is dog friendly too.

My family and I booked christmas dinner at the George, and whilst expensive, it didn't disappoint. The portion sizes were huge. The only criticism was that whilst we like our veg still looking and tasting like veg, the sprouts were seriously undercooked, so much so that we just couldn't eat them. It's like they were literally dropped in boiling water, then served. They were so hard, my daughter couldn't eat them. We asked for another portion that were softer, but sadly, these were just as hard. The special requirements were followed to the letter and the service was outstanding.

Very disappointing dining experience. The service was slow. We waited an hour before our starter was served. The cheese soufflé tasted pleasant enough but could have had the tiniest of garnish at least. It looked plain and bland on the white plate. The meat and potatoes (pale beige) were lukewarm, the vegetables undercooked and the gravy had congealed skin on the top. The waiting staff seemed to be desperate to go home and never once approached us to ask how the meal was. We decided to forego dessert and left hungry. For an historic establishment so beautiful from the outside and an inevitable magnet for tourists, it was an embarassing example of traditional British food. The 2 stars were for the Yorkshire pudding and horseradish sauce. Never again.

Visited regularly for a fortnight. Much depended on the Barista on duty. On occasions the coffee was excellent but on occasions it was average and on one occasion unacceptable. Toilets were often of dubious cleanliness.Too often seats were taken by older clientele who seemed determined to make a cup last for ages so they could chat to their regular friends for an unreasonable duration.
